- So I decided to give my local spot a try for the Sea Bass for the first time in 2024 .

Cherrs mate one thing my native lands share with the cornish is the saying proper but we say it with a del boy accent however considering my mistake I'm probably more of a Rodney 😂tight lines bro thanks for watching 🎣🎣
Schoolboy error with the leader 😄. But in all honesty we've all done similar - climbed down a cliff for an all nighter and discover the bait was left in the car lol. Great video once again. Onwards & upwards! Next time!!

One of the reasons I use mono no wind knots and no need for leaders = more casts and more fishing love the video mate shows you that it’s not all fun and games basing 😂
I've thought about using mono but I love the sensitivity that braid gives. Cheers for watching and fit your comment mate much appreciated

I did find that when I changed to the Penn reel I started getting wind knots regularly, compared to virtually none when I had my shimano. After a few weeks of tinkering with the setup, the line lay was improved by removing a spacer from the reel, and I added a small high-test swivel before the leader. Touch wood, but ever since I have had zero problems.

@@CornishFishingTales-dc4rw Check your reel manual first mate, but if you unscrew your drag and remove the spool you should be able to see a number of washers on there. Mine came with spare 'smaller' ones in the pack as line-lay can be slightly problematic straight out of the box, which in-turn can lead to those annoying knots

Had a nice fish from that spot a couple years back . Very similar conditions . Think you needed a surf seeker at distance . Sometimes it looks perfect and try every lure and nothing . So disheartening. But just getting out and chilling and trying is enough , see fish as a bonus and just enjoy what your doing . Tight lines
It's a great spot mate but like you say it's not always good some days you can't catch for love or money but that's why we all do this silly sport eh. Do you use a seeker at high or when the tide has gone out a bit I would imagine it's best then? 👍

@CornishFishingTales-dc4rw I just love surf seekers and the samson bomb in any surf . Big and small surf . Hardly fails if fish are there . Some days I try everything short of throwing a granade in lol

I think i ordered 30 so 15 per boot. I actually used 4 in the heel and about 8 in the sole and had therefore a few spares. Ordered on ebay.

To avoid knotting line you should use a smooth thin line, yours looks pretty thick. I've found thicker line knots more, you could try mono specifically for lures
Hi mate cheers for the tip you are right my line is thick as I had a lot of problems with the thin line too also had problems with the thinner line breaking so I opted for the thicker stuff it's not unmanageable it's just wind knots every now and then

I don't use mono for lure fishing as I find you lose sensitivity so I live with the problems of braid for the positive side that it's way more sensitive 👍
I used to lure fish around Stranglers Beach and found some days crazy easy and others as though the sea was empty. Lovely part of the world to be during spring.

I absolutely love cornwall mate I'm so glad I moved here and I understand why the cornish are so protective of it. It's absolute gold standard place and way of life.

Ha could be mate I chose the Penn cos it's saltwater resistant and up rated and I use the same rod and reel for kayak foshing as well one day I may get two setups and see how the shimano compare ✌️👍

Can see you're wearing a life vest. It's important to use them as a lone angler and def worth a mention when doing a vlog for those unfamiliar with the dangers of rough weather and rogue waves.. unlucky on the missed fish. Looked longer je a decent fish by the bend in the rod.

I am going to talk more about the life jacket in my vids deffo and I need to get some studs for my boots too.

Hahaha. Your excitement at fishing is infectious and was willing you to catch that fish. As for the studs. I bought some kold cutter studs and fitted them to an old pair of regatta boots. They work a treat..saves a fortune on Fancy boots

@@CornishFishingTales-dc4rw I found that by drilling a very fine pilot hole in the tread first and then adding a drop of super glue to the thread as you screw them in makes it easier and holds them secure in the boot sole

@@ScottishLureFishing2024 great tip mate cheers I know what you mean about the leader knot through the tips. It's a bit of a balance here u find between having it long enough to provide protection from the rocks when lifting fish out and not going through the tips I find if you have to have a long leader you need to reduce your cast power a bit to stop the knot getting caught and that if that makes sense

I in saying that though id never use the shimano on the kayak so i use the penn on kayak and shimano from shore 👍
