"Everyone has a little hack in them" that is awesome! It is true too. Sometimes you have to pull out the hack card for the customer. It is not a perfect world. Great job as always man.
Anyway been in this situation plenty of times were you just need it to go a couples more weeks this customer will always remember it and be loyal to you
Oh man that's seriously in need of replacement, people never believe me when I tell them how grotty a lot of commercial kitchens & catering equipment get.
Hi bro love your videos man. I’m 42 years old been in the pizza 🍕 biz for 27 years , always been a mechanic, worked as a electrician, then went on to build a bunch of houses .. so about year decided to go to school for hvac I love it ... getting out of the food biz ..
You should do a video on common refer service hacks! I'm interested to know what other tricks you've used to get by in desperate situations. I've never thought of cutting into a cap tube for repair! Pretty interesting, man. Great work, again 🤙
Capitol budget is blown until end of 1st qtr 2019.... have all sorts of turds to polish to get the grandstand open for Thanksgiving. The joys of seasonal F&B!
Three kitchens, thirteen walk ins, fourteen bar/concession stands, ten ice machines..the majority of equipment ten to twenty years old. One man band but this isn't my real job, just something I try to keep up with because it amuses me. Only had to call the pros in twice so far this year.
Good work. I take care of the food service equipment in a state prison here in Missouri. I always hacking shit back together. There is so much red tape just to get parts. It sometimes takes 6 months to get a part. Equipment only gets replaced once yearly and that is limited to budget restraint. I had a 20hp discuss compressor the bearings we're going out in. It was loosing oil pressure and tripping the safety. I bypassed the safety and that thing ran another 3 months before it locked up. I couldn't believe it!
I like your business practice some one else would of said put it in the alley i dont have time to fix the garbage box . But something like that always goes a long way and is great for your reputation and business.
I will be going live on TH-cam this evening 4/13/20 @ 5:PM (pacific time) to discuss my most recent uploads come on over and check it out if you can th-cam.com/video/vY1U3KpfuzQ/w-d-xo.html

Dont worry man we all have to do what we have to do sometimes. Good temp fix. I work hotel maintenance so I do a lot those just keep the masses happy. They dont wanna spend money so you have to come up with shit lol
Nice video thank you. Chris what brazing or solder do you use to install an aluminium cap tube to a copper filter drier? I appreciate any information,.Thank you Ron white
To replace a cap tube on that type unit, you need to cut out the back of the box like that but all the way to the top? Do you ever replace cap tube with TXV?
No I've never put a txv in these because they dont have a receiver. The manufacturer makes a kit that relocates the lineset inside the box so you dont have to cut out the back
We’v had many of those True reach ins with leaks in the buried line set when we asked about just r7nning a line set outside the cabinet we were told NO . Something to do with the school dept prohibited that. Weird???...True makes a fix for this with a painted piece of tin and notching the shelving...
hey chris much respect bro just need to confirm something here i notice that your Pressure i.e. Vsat temp Target were a little higher than those set on Walk in freezers is this because of the application of the refrigerator itself demands these targets / pressures?
My experience has been that cooking grease just destroys equipment. After a point it's junk. That one is there. Then comes the imported junk. There's not much fix to them either
which is usually crap.. what he did is ten times better and will make the freezer operate much better.. with a better temp.. but yeah good thing the client went for a new one
The factory t-stat is in the evap coil for the system to defrost is the main reason the w.i.c stat normally wouldn't be my choice, however if you stick it in the evap and set the differential higher it can work with adjustments. I agree with hvacr videos, the (OEM) constant on t-stat is the way to go. It turns off at 17-19 degrees and comes on at 38 degrees.
Did what you had to do to get the customer out of the pinch if the box was ordered. If the customer was honest about ordering the new box your repair made you look like a hero who saves the day.
Now the customer cancels the new one because it’s “working” 😂.
So True!
@@skimask3 as long as your not doing as a favor and meal, he will get tired paying eventually

Haha I like the “everything is eh...........destroyed”. Turd alert!!!!!!! Nice job.
Good temp fix!! If that was here they ask if it will hold I'd say yeah but you need a new fridge....
Oh, old trusty 52 ll Fluke. True is about 2 miles south of my place. Good fix on 1/8" sleeve on cap||tube..
😂😂😂😂😂 Everyone has a little hack in them. So true. That hack will net you a customer for life.
Right overall judgement and a more than justified "hack".
Good job happy customer.👍
Slam Bam Thank you Man! Getting er done. You got it going at all costs. Good job!
BER, beyond economic repair!

Crazy
Yes everyone has a little hack in them love it
Just curious how you found the leak in the cap tube? Could you hear it before cutting the back of the box open ? Great find and repair.
My leak detector was picking up a leak coming from the hole the lines came out of so I just pressurized the hell out of it and started cutting.
This Inficon D-Tek you use is climbing to the top 3 I'm considering to finally choose one.
Undecided between this and H-10.

I have never brazed aluminum to copper so i would not be the person to answer that
Ok thank you
Seen worse, but damn is there anything you didn't mention? 3g or less new 5yr on comp. hope they take better care of new one.

Yeah I have done one of their lineset retro kits before, it turns out alright!
What did you use the cut the sheet metal where you repaired the cap tube leak?Great video!
A cordless angle grinder with a cutoff wheel
only thing worth keeping is the temp control
I'd take the motor. Not that I need a motor, but, you know, why not have a pile of motors and fan blades sitting around?
Yes, replace lt.
hey chris much respect bro
just need to confirm something here

We are engineers, it ok to patch it up time to time 👍🏻 you did the customer a favour. You will be the guy their call for the next job. Everyone wins 😊
Time to replace this cooler or freezer
It's ok...
You should of brought some torches out to melt off all that grease with a water bottle spraying it to prevent it from catching on fire.
Why would your head pressure go up after cleaning the condenser. That’s a head scratcher
I did this more often than none 🥺
Why don’t they just have an access panel?
.
because they are cheap!
👍👍👍👍
With what you did it’s good for another year. Haha
You call it hack. I called it creation.
Hackalicious
daam bringing the dead back to life
Tell me about it!!!
true equipment is shit to work on.
on the temp controller it's not wrong... nothing wrong with what he did..
I prefer to go back with factory controls, that is why I said it is wrong.
which is usually crap.. what he did is ten times better and will make the freezer operate much better.. with a better temp.. but yeah good thing the client went for a new one

I just realized that was a freezer not a cooler my bad. But all the same if it was a cooler I definitely would use the OEM.

Buy new
Toss it
customer should buy a new one better than fix it.
Multiple offender!
Yeah it was the unit has actually since been replaced
