      It's seems to me that out west where it is dry and away from salt air they can last a lifetime. In Florida along the coast even if it is coated you are good for 10-15 years, outdoor condensers can last 4-5 years.

    Had a good chance to refer my tech to your videos for the "Big Picture" part. Most recent instance was on Biosafety cabinet in a lab where we laboriously ran through the lighting and control circuit for the Ultraviolet lamp in the cabinet. Several hours later we found that the lab user had gotten a plastic part out of position that prevented the glass sash from closing fully, locking out the UV circuit. Go in with open mind !

    @16:48 They sell rust fixative paint...but they warn you to keep it away from sparking / arcing devices as it cures. Trying to coat a receiver in a rack--spray or brushed on--would probably cause paint fires from the fumes, unless you shut it down. So you'd need to swap the item, paint it offsite...too much a hassle.

    Nice work Chris. I used to take care of some BEACON 1&2 equipment, my employer at the time sold it when they still did training classes in Sacramento but eventually it became a 2-week course in Wisconsin that no one wanted to send a tech to. I like the smart stuff as long as it’s intuitive and parts are easily available. Why didn’t you just pipe the new coils to a new stand-alone condensing unit though? I’ve never been a fan of those racks, personally

    In New Zealand we are fronting the change with the Kyoto protocol... I feel we are the test subject for the industry. The tax on 404A is insane as we charge $400 lb for 404A. We are changing to 452A which is a lower GWP but high price for R&D costs + more tax. I can see our industry using propane and CO2 in the near future and the training has to adapt and fast.

    Just wondering why only ground the shielded cablenfrom one end ??

    • @HVACRVIDEOS
      @HVACRVIDEOS  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Here is a pretty good quick explanation.
      A shielded cable is typically only grounded at one end to prevent "ground loops," which are unwanted currents that can flow through the shield due to slight differences in ground potential between different points in a system, potentially introducing noise into the signal; grounding at the source end is usually the preferred method to minimize this issue.

    Some people might say, Intelligen is just an expensive failure point.

    • @tschuuuls486
      @tschuuuls486 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Pays off the first time the thing turns red and shows an error code. Manager now has the chance to call you before everything in the box is spoiled. And with the eev in the box it probably saves quite a bit of power, too. Only other thing that would make those systems more reliable is having the controller replace the mechanical defrost clock.

    • @henryahmed
      @henryahmed 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@tschuuuls486 The intelliGen controller does replace the mechanical defrost clock. If you ever see a mechanical defrost timer on a condensing unit paired with an evaporator with intelliGen, it needs to go. Same thing with any anti short cycling time delay. Those are not required with intelliGen either. Lastly, you don't need a solenoid valve either as the EEV closes 100% and the board has a capacitor that has enough power to close the EEV in case of a power failure.

    • @tschuuuls486
      @tschuuuls486 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@henryahmed but chis has chosen: "Consensing unit wired?: No". So it probably doesn't control the consensing unit. But I'm not an expert.

    • @henryahmed
      @henryahmed 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@tschuuuls486 Yes, in this case the intelliGen controller does not control the condensing unit. The only thing controlling the compressor is the low pressure switch. The defrost will be controlled by the intelliGen controller and it will pump down the system with the EEV closing down 100% and the low pressure switch cutting out on low pressure. There is the possibility that the compressor could turn ON during defrost... when that happens we recommend an interlock that is connected between the defrost relay at the intelliGen board and the compressor contactor at the condensing unit.

    Having to turn right (east) to get from eastern to pacific would drive me crazy. Same as when sports sites show divisions/conferences with east on the left. Go to the NFL or MLB sites and it is like this.
    NFL for the AFC they show (left to right): AFC east, north, south, west. Same with the NFC. And MLB shows for the AL east, central, west. And same for the NL.
    I know why they would put eastern first in lists. But if you are showing lists in columns make them geographically arranged.
