I love these, thanks for the great review. To clarify for everyone, it is watercolor and not ink. Which means its completely water-soluble even if it dries in your palette. It is lightfast as Kristina said because its pigmented and not dye-based so you must be sure to stir them really well as the pigment settles to the bottom of the jar. They are no different than artist's grade tube colors except they're pre-dissolved into liquid form. Great for calligraphy, ruling pens, dip pens or filling water brushes with color.
You're an amazing calligrapher by the way. Love watching that.

Back in the 80's these watercolors were the favorite ones to use with airbrush, it is vey nice to see them again in action in

Hi Kristina (hope I spelt that right!) I'm what you call a ''Newbie''! I taught are art for years, taught preschool for years as well. But now that I'm retired, there are so many huge changes in the art field - I'm blown away! All these different Mixed Media's. Color bursts, Gelli plates, so many ways to use waters colors. It makes me a bit overwhelmed, but I cannot wait to really get into all my painting again. I just watched you video and was so captivated at how well you presented yourself, explained thoroughly and gave us a wealth of your knowledge to share. Thank you so much. I will continue to follow you. And If I ever have any questions, I'll be sure to blot them down for you, if that would be all right. Your Calligraphy is outstanding. I've been doing it for years on and off - need to start practicing to get back into it. I'm a 'Lefty' so it's not as easy in a right-hand world.
You are a very talented young gal. Keep up the good work!! ~Maeve~

Helen Wang Nope, you're definitely not alone, Helen. All I could think after Kristina finished the lid label was, "...oh, my gosh - that is so freakin' pretty!" I just love her handwriting. I can spot her stamps and dies now a mile away. lol!

I could sit here and watch you for hours! (Actually, I have but don't tell my husband!) I also appreciate how you explain not only what products or tools you are using - but also why and the overall objective. I am analytical by nature so it truly helps to know the objective and the "why". My niece is a phenomenal artist (at the ripe ol' age of 20!) and she has started brush lettering as have I. I am NOT an artist by any means, but we can connect on lettering and I love that. Thank you so much for your generosity of sharing your talent. Keep up the wonderful work!

What a nice, informative video. I've used Dr Ph Martin Hydrus liquid watercolors, but demonstrating how you set them up in that cute ice cube tray and how you used them with your water pens was so helpful and interesting to watch. Your calligraphy is beautiful. Thanks for making this video.

I have been tossing around the idea of these watercolors for years. But once I got my hands on Daniel smith it was over. For white watercolor when I swatch mine out I use a black sharpie and draw a fat line in the middle of the square to show its opacity. Lovely quote and stunning handwriting as always

Ah Kristina you little enabler you 😉, these look lovely. I have to keep reminding myself that I don't know how to hand letter! I am sure they would be great for lots of things, but unless I can learn to letter I won't let myself buy another watercolor medium. . . Lol! I love watching you work, you make it look so easy, and I know it isn't and that you worked hard to become as good as you are, but it is almost meditative to watch you letter, thanks for sharing these yummy water colors and the idea of the ice cube tray palette (genius).

I have the Radiant Watercolors from Dr. Ph. Martens. They are 1/2 oz. bottles and come in sets of 14. As you said, they are about the same price as the Hydrus Watercolors. The main difference between these, that I can decipher in this video, is the transparency. The Hydrus Watercolors seem to have a chalky or fogged look to them; whereas, the Radiant Watercolors are definitely translucent. This seems to come through a little bit when painting. I would say the Hydrus Watercolors would appear a bit muted next to the Radiant. However, that is not a downside. For handlettering and such, I think either would hold up perfectly. As for actual paintings, the Radiants have the potential to appear too bold and bright. Both look great, and I'm looking forward to working with watercolor more. I just may have to pick up a set of the Hydrus and test them out myself.
