At least for the aspect of cleaning up the caked grass, you should build yourself two ramps so you can scoot the mower on them and clean without removing the deck.

No need you can just use the wash port after each use.
You connect the water up, set the deck to the lowest setting, engage the blades and lower the deck. I run mine for a bout 3 mins till I see the clippings flowing out.
Without cleaning the deck each use the multching is very poor.

With the price of JD parts being obscene and the company's fight to stop the right of the consumer to repair their own equipment, l really don't know why people still deal with them.

Can always tell the clowns that have never touched grass. You believe because other internet clowns say something of an industry they know fuck all about... that it must be true. You there is nothing you can't access. No part you can't order. There have been, and continue to be independent shops performing all the same services any dealer can perform.

I have found that a belt sander (a table model) works great for sharpening blades. It doesn't get the metal too hot, and works really well.

Always blow the filters in the opposite direction of flow. It damages the filters by pushing the dirt the filter caught through the filter medium, when you blow it the other way it does not damage the filter as bad.

I find when I'm washing my agricultural machinery that the grass stain or any other sort of staining comes off really well with a traffic film remover from Kramp, you can put it in a weed sprayer diluted 3 to one and just spray it on, leave it for 5 mins wash it off with the pressure washer and it leave a protective film for the next time you wash it, highly recommended! 25 litre tub is around the £35 mark, you should look into it 😊

I have the John Deere X350 with 18 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine. I had mine since January 2016, and it has 283.5 hours on it. Mine is a four-season machine. I use it to mow the lawns in both my property & my neighbor's property. Then I bag-up the fallen leaves in both my property & my neighbor's. And I plow snow out the driveways. So, I got mine with all attachments at the same time, bagger, plow, weights, chains and Snow Cab. So far it has been a VERY reliable machine without ANY issues and no, I have not replaced the 12-volt battery yet.

Thanks for the upload, MR. You always do amazing work! I have never ridden on a John Deere diesel lawnmower before. My dad has always owned petrol powered lawnmowers for most of my younger life up until now. He's had an old Lowe's brand lawnmower from 1989 up until 2002. He sold it to someone who wanted to restore the lawnmower. He bought a Huskee brand lawnmower in 2002 from Tractor Supply Company. He still has that lawnmower in his garage, but the rear axle is broken. He doesn't want to fool around with it, because replacing the rear axle is expensive. His current lawnmower that he owns now is a Toro brand zero turn with a Kawasaki v twin that he bought in 2013. I'm not big on zero turn lawnmowers. I have to have a steering wheel in front of me lol

And there's the reason I will never buy a John Deere. Expensive parts and way over complicated. When greasing your front steering, jack up the front end. That will allow some grease to come out of the bottom to lubricate the pivot point. I use epoxy appliance paint to paint my decks. It's a little slicker and tougher than regular spray paint. Thanks for taking us along.

The fact that the belt is so much work to replace and also 138 pounds makes it look like JD is up to anti-consumer shenanigans as usual. Also, I don't know why but it seems odd to me to see an American lawn tractor being used on the regular over in the UK, wasn't expecting that one at all.

man John deere really spoils you with the build quality these days. PTO shaft and not a belt, a proper belt cover for the deck, a diff lock (probably what I'm most jealous of) and also shaft driven transaxel too. our gx355d has only has lone service like this about 20 years ago and its struggling now. all the belts and baring need replaced blates are so warn lines are left in the lawn where its just cut. I cant even remove the belt covers because the bolts just spin in their holes.
Also, side note the deck wheels rotate 90* and then the deck roles out easy. Thats all I can remember from the manual some one uploaded online before the website was taken down. we never got a manual or a key with ours, it was all lost in shipping.

One thing you didn’t point out that the mower deck on that tractor mower has a male hose connector on the right-hand side of the mower deck = that I assume is for “deluxe” water washing of the deck/blades - after mowing the lawn go to your hose pipe and connect it to the “wash port” and turn on the tap & lower the deck and engage the blades = the mower should clean itself with the water. Another commenter said that, and painting the deck risks blocking the water port?

Here in rural Victoria Australia, I bought a Reco ride on that looked ok. The belt let go 30min in on my first cut. Thinking I pushed too hard I bought new belts and one let go in 15min. I lifted it up with a block and tackle and found the deck bearings to be shot and the mower professional refused to help me out. I ended up selling it for half what I paid and told the guy what needed to be done. I am disabled and couldn't do it myself. This is a warning for people to not just take a pro's word that it is all Reco'd.

I have found it to be very helpful to clean my lawnmower deck at the end of the mowing season and applying a heavy coat of a mixture of ATF, PB blaster and dish soap. Let it sit over winter, and reapply 2 weeks in the spring before mowing. During the course of the summer I have very little grass accumulation.

@@M.TTT. I do on occasion mow wet grass. I also mow 5 and 1/2 acres. I do a midsummer blade sharpening and usually only clean out a couple of handfuls of grass. The ATF and PB blaster have heavy rust inhibitors and the dish soap helps it stick, and it mixes very well. The key is the fall application and letting it soak into the metal all winter. If nothing else, a good preservative for your mower deck.

Man that new oil is so dark, it looks like W5 engine oil from Lidl.

That's how you over torque them. Either ruining the spindle or breaking the bolt off... then ruining the spindle.

138 British pounds is 169 us dollars for a single belt. This is why I can’t afford a John Deere too expensive. I gave 98 dollars for 2 deck belts and this lawnmower rider was manufactured in 2004-2005 I thought I was gonna have a heart attack.

@Failure_Is_An_Option, I have 4 of them new every 2 years but is nice to have a spare hence my comment, plus the lead time to get a new one at the moment is around 2/3 months

@@joeclarke8578 Right... You're the only one that can't see how ridiculous your lie is. I mean if a clown buys four of these every two years... You keep one for a "spare". Such a silly thing to lie about. You have problems.
