That excitement you have about the company you work for and that they might be a good fit is exactly why I think I'd love recruiting. I'm pivoting from sales to HR and recruiting seems like the best place for me to start.
One of the most useful "day in the life of a recruiter" videos! I would love to hear your thoughts on creative ways to engage tech talent and improve the outreach response rate, as it is, indeed, very competitive. Thanks!

Hey @jessica I trust you're awesome. How has the journey been for you? Its been 5 months now. Don't mind me asking, I'm basically making the switch to being a technical recruiter was hoping you could share your experience thus far.
Thinking of a career change into tech recruiting and half-way through this video I was thinking, why does she look SO familiar, then it dawned on me that we had a group project together in college lol.
I just interviewed to become a tech recruiter and I’m really hoping I get it! So would def love a video with all of the platforms or tools you use for outreach. as well, genuinely curious since a friend mentioned she had this issue when she was in recruiting. Have you ever had to deal with demeaning or I guess belittling male candidates? My friend constantly was dealing with that or they’d be snarky in email once they realized it was her vs her male coworker etc. this was also a mainly male dominated field as well like tech (think it was like maintenance like engineering)
Wow, good luck!! I mostly still use LinkedIn Recruiter for my outreach, at least to build the search, but then I'll use a tool like Gem or Interseller to automate the outreach sequence and remind me to follow up with people. I've definitely dealt with male candidate who've got an attitude but I don't think it ever had anything to do with me being a woman... If anything, I got more snark from them when I was less experienced and confident but it still happens from time to time. There are a lot of big egos in tech, as in other industries, and some people are just going to be rude, unfortunately. 😅
Thanks! Depends on your experience... generally if you're trying to break into the industry I advise targeting early stage startups, places that don't yet have a big name that attracts all the top talent
@@verybadminimalist8446 yay!! It will also be cool if you share infos and tips how tp get a job in the area, what requiremets do you need to meet, if it's hard to get a job like thos, where to look for jobs, pros & cons.. Etc.. Thanks 💚
good question! nope, not necessarily. any recruiter who works for an agency tends to have a large part of their income determined by commission/bonus, but when you're in-house and work for just one company, for example: facebook, google, etc you get a higher salary and lower bonus.
Sort of! I vary the questions depending on their level of experience and the specific domains of work, but I have my go-to questions, for sure. I always ask what they're looking for, trying to gauge some interest in startups and fintech, since that's the space I'm in.
I am an HR and looking for an opportunity in HR, having 2 years of experience. If you have any openings for entry role, kindly let me know. @very bad minimalist

I’m also pivoting from sales. I read HR was a great path from sales background.

Liked the video- are all tech recruiters on commission based salary?
good question! nope, not necessarily. any recruiter who works for an agency tends to have a large part of their income determined by commission/bonus, but when you're in-house and work for just one company, for example: facebook, google, etc you get a higher salary and lower bonus.
Do you think introverts would like recruiting if they enjoy helping people?
Definitely! I'm actually pretty introverted and think recruiting is a great job for an introvert bc most of the interactions are 1:1 conversations
So you use a script and ask the same questions to all candidates right?
Sort of! I vary the questions depending on their level of experience and the specific domains of work, but I have my go-to questions, for sure.
I always ask what they're looking for, trying to gauge some interest in startups and fintech, since that's the space I'm in.
A fellow tech recruiter here 🥰🥹 It's nice meeting you
