I love how relatable u are, there have been so many times that I've run out of a certain piece during a build, I've never seen a TH-camr have that issue, and the fact that u also run into that problem but Ur creative enough to always figure it out is genuinely inspiring. These videos are some of my favorite

from someone who knows a lot about trains, you may want to look into train wheel design for making it able to turn corners. they are connected to eachother in pairs and are like slices of a cone, with the thickest part closest to the center, then flanges to keep it from falling off the track. the conical shape allows it to use centrifugal force to keep from tipping when turning by essentially making one wheel bigger than the other when making the turn, so the wide end of the curve takes the same amount of wheel rotations as the short end of the curve, then balances itself out after. you could probably replicate that with those disc like pieces and a rod piece.

Couldn't you put the switch for the battery box on the bottom of the minecart? That way the actuator would be placed very subtly between the rails themselves, and it would look seamless as far as the minecart goes. Would also get rid of the need for a "wall" to reverse itself

You should start a patreon so that you can afford more pieces! You can show sneak peeks of your projects to your patrons and possibly even some that wouldn't have made it to TH-cam, and in turn you can have enough pieces to finish even more projects and make them look pretty too! Just a suggestion!
