    The V6 3.5 direct injection motor was introduced in 2011 in the 2012 model year E’s. The face-lifted W212 E’s were introduced in 2012 as a 2014 model year.
    I’ve had the identical car to yours, a Arctic White over Sand Beige for 6.5 years and 133k miles. It’s been very comfortable and reliable, gets great gas mileage and is pretty quick. Big warning though, these engines are known to wear their plastic engine chain guides if you stick to Mercedes recommendation on oil changes. We also have a 2012 ML350 and it has failing change guides after following Mercedes service A, and B since new, very disappointing on a $60k car. Our W212 E class has the noise indicating the guides are beginning to fail too. Lol
    Lesson learned, oil changes should be every 5k-7k miles with synthetic not 10k miles! Never happened on our V8 Mercedes

  • @vintagehaynesflute
    @vintagehaynesflute 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    In the USA all we got for the W212 was a V6, V8 gasoline engines and the V6 and the I4 turbo Diesel engines, no I6.
    Also E85 is much higher octane than the gasoline, probably around 100-102 octane.
    You’re right, keeping up with the maintenance is the key. Too many Mercedes get neglected and become mechanically totaled.
    I love my 2016 E350 luxury model

      Yup nice car. I would just get it tinted 30% or so. The lighter interior will make the tint not look so dark during the day time. I just bought one and I will tint all windows (5) minus the windshield and add a clear bra.

    The other reviews I have seen are calling this a V6 and you suggested that it was inline which I'd prefer. Did they make both available? I am considering coming down from an S class as I am always alone and with the (optional?) split rear seat-backs these would be more practical.

    I’d like to say that the AMG badge is part of the AMG Sport line package. However you need to look at your owners manual because the 3.5L is a V6 naturally aspirated, not an I6. Thats more of a BMW thing, with there 2.5L or 3.0L I6. Not Mercedes.

    I agree: S Class owners are embarrassed that your E Class looks like theirs. ;) And, if one is talking about money: You have less than half the options available and offered at the time, in order to save yourself money. The navigation system sucks in this vehicle..especially the voice command. (AMG on this vehicle 😞)

    • @CountryCoachGuy
      @CountryCoachGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      German cars, for me, were always about how it drives and handles. They never mastered, "luxury" items, even their cup holders suck but, that is not why I buy Mercedes.

    • @UhhhhhnooOOo00oO
      @UhhhhhnooOOo00oO 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CountryCoachGuy I agree somewhat. The cup holders suck because they didn't want them in their cars. They "didn't want them for fat Americans.". The market dictated that. Billions of dollars. They do have over engineered cup holders made of plastic crap. It's supposed to be a driving focused car for the Autobahn. The USA isn't the only country in the world. They have less open roads, narrower roads with more turns. The Ultimate Driving Machine...Until it breaks. I've owned many BMWs. I don't know. The old E and S classes and especially the new ones master luxury pretty well. You can buy a Lincoln Navigator for comfort. Not for driving or reliability EVER. ;) What car mastered luxury, besides Rolls Royce, Bentley or a 70s Cadillac rust boat? What country mastered luxury? Italy? The USA? Sweden? Japan? Now China? Noooo. It also depends on model. A 740iL is pretty luxurious and an S Class with all the accoutrements is pretty dakn "comfy" and "massagey". Matthew McConaughey does sell those Lincoln boats and they are Luxury. Again, i wouldn't want to own one. I haven't looked at an "American" car in 30 years, that was even worth a trip to a dealership. I tried to. All the time. We do cheap F150s (that 98% are unnecessary for citizens) and maybe Mustangs. Oh, and old technology Teslas. Batteries? Really? Maybe solid state or hybrids. Luxury and Sporty don't go hand in hand. Weight and cost pf manufacturing are always issues. Physics never lies.

    • @UhhhhhnooOOo00oO
      @UhhhhhnooOOo00oO 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CountryCoachGuy You buy Mercedes vehicles for handling? Unless you are going Black Series/GTR.....good luck. BMW used to be that way but, then they got cheap, lazy, profit only and all their cars cost. It is also about who owns them. No M Cars or AMG cars are treated well and have more to go wrong. Go with a BMW 2 series or M2, if you want the classic sports car. Mercedes doesn't go for that market. Their AMGs were powerhouses but, not sports cars. It's a good best of both worlds. A somewhat sport oriented Merc. You could get the worst of both worlds though. -Be Well

    Great review - thanks for making the video! I agree with you - I don't like that the C-, E-, and S- Class share the same lights... makes each one lose its identity... sure you can tell the difference, but that's not the point... Did you add the AMG emblem or ?? I currently own 3 Mercedes This will soon be my 2nd E-class... just sold my 1999 W210 E320 (I had 4 Mercedes a few months ago)... Every 10 years, I get a Mercedes that is ~10 years old (bought my 1999 back in 2008)! Under $10k for a $50 - 70K car!!! I had previously been targeting a 2009 W211 - specifically the 2009 since that was the first year of the paddle shifters and I like that body style. But I drove one and was less than impressed - maybe it was not a great example? Then I started considering the W212 body style and decided to focus on those (they are under $10k now!)... then I found out about the I-6 vs the V-6 and a bump of 34 HP and BETTER gas mileage - what??? That swayed me! So now my focus in the 2014 E350... OK - its still a bit over the $10 price target, but close enough (going to look at a few for around $12k/100k miles)... thank you again for a detailed video!
