Scary part is that once we get as old as I am, we can't even walk home, regardless of how wasted we are. In my case, what a long (and interesting) strange trip it's been.
Steve Winwood wrote this song when he was 21 or possibly younger. He did a beautiful and simple version of this, sitting with his guitar by a fireplace, 40 years later. It's on TH-cam.
You've heard of a one hit wonder. Well this was a one album Wonder. 😊 I remember when I bought this album as a young 20-something I couldn't get enough of it. I'm 72 now and hearing it makes me melancholy
FM Radio... 3am.... Friday night, sitting in the park with several friends passing three bongs playing this song on 94.7 KMET- The Mighty MET. Great memories in music
I discovered this song when I was a teenager in the 80's, while watching a movie called "Fandango" with Kevin Costner. Definitely a great road trip song! This totally got me into Blind Faith, Cream, and Traffic to name a few.
I saw Blind Faith on their only North American tour in 1969...Stevie Winwood was easily the most impressive musician on the stage at that concert...composer, vocals, keyboards, guitar...he did it all...
Written by and sung by Steve Winwood. 1 and only album for Blind Faith. Yet, the 2 continue their friendship. They did tour together. As for solo Steve Winwood, he often wrote with the late Will Jennings. He also wrote with Eric Clapton. RIP Will Jennings, September 2024.
Man this takes me back to the late 70's early 80's hanging out with friends at small parties having a couple of beers and a few tokes for a nice little gathering contemplating life. Wouldn't trade those times for anything.
I've watched a couple of your reviews... love them, you "get" it. Music a form of communication the you obviously understand, thank you for building these videos :)
To piggyback on AliasMark's comment I discovered the channel a year ago at random and once I dug into his extensive archives, I was hooked, and this was a year ago. I immediately subscribed and joined his Patreon. He analyzes every part of the song and interprets the lyrics in ways I never thought of. The #1 best reactor on YT hands down.
Seriously, everybody's suggestions are awesome. I've heard stuff I never heard before, which is cool as hell. I know a lotta music from my Dad and my Uncle Mike who I think own every record ever made. I'm just 32 and between my Pa and Unc and the people on this channel, I've gotten a great music education.
Nice one. He still tours a lot in Australia. Was here (Perth) in 2011 for a Day on the Green, just magical. Great analysis, some say the song's lyrics are about spiritual rebirth and were intended for rockers who were burned out by the end of the 1960s, I think that may be a bit of a push, although he has never stated the meaning behind the lyrics as it’s open to interpretation and he said once it would be like explaining a joke once you’ve told it lol 😊
Funny, when I see your reactions like this one, I imagine how I felt when I first heard this song. It's kind of like seeing my past self within you. Thank you.
I like your interpretation of the lyrics, but I always thought it just meant that he got too wasted and couldn't figure out how to get home! Lol! I've loved this song since the late seventies.
Going back to the 60s & 70s, I have never been obsessed with a performer until Haley Reinhart I tuned into this reaction because she does a great cover of this song. It was a favorite of her dad and he performed it frequently with his band, Midnight. Haley carries on the family tradition performing this song in her live concerts. If you react to her once, you will want more and you will attract viewers from her avid fan base. Haley Reinhart and dad, Harry, on acoustic guitar at Chess Records, home of so many great blues recordings, performing “Can’t Find My Way Home” and Haley’s original “Don’t Know How to Love You”. th-cam.com/video/omtsHEs2g0w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TILgqJkDg4Oe4j2X If you want a clip you can just play without having to cue up the beginning of the first song, you can use this one Haley Reinhart and dad, Harry, singing Can’t Find My Way Home - a favorite of his throughout his career and the love of this song has been transferred to Haley. th-cam.com/video/FVxQZuKFaeQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=y4-Mp5M2wx8xcoXb If you want a new song, th-cam.com/video/fbEW8BrNctI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RGHtSraHZ30CK5d4
I love this song! I've tried and tried to play it, but I'm just not a finger picker. This song is timeless! I like the way you've started showing the lyrics at the end. Sometimes they're hard to understand (especially if you're hard of hearing like me).
Love Steve Winwood, and Ray Charles. But if there is a white Ray Charles, at least vocally, it has to be Joe Cocker. You can easily hear either of them doing the other one’s songs.
@@RicoCosta317 I first noticed JM/Jarvis doing a Zeppelin reaction back on January 11th 2023... I suggested he do a Classic Psychedelic Icon - Chambers Bros - Time Has Come Today... He said "It Melted His Brain". That was his #41 on Jan 14th 2023... 130 artist and 455 songs since then. He is by far the best on YT... I've ever seen.
Seen them perform in 69 in Az. Those were the days. Good music Good Times with the exception of Vietnam. Traffic Dear Mr Fantasy Or John Barleycorn Must Die 🐂🤠
I know you mostly do movies and music but some reactions to "The Fat Electrician" would be dope! He's hilarious and you actually learn something while watching.
I’d like to hear your take on a sadly neglected sleeper from that era: “Farewell Song” on the album “Live at Winterland ‘68” by Big Brother and the Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin. - -
I know I already commented but Bonnie Raitt does a great cover of this if u ever want to check it out. She also has a song called Not the only one thats really good
great super group. Others are Asia, Box of Frogs and my favorite is The Travelling Wilburys . Not that their music is superior, its just I really like every member of the Wilbury's.
"And I'm Wasted And Can't Find My Way Home".... how many have had that feeling.
Me yesterday after my B'day party. TG I'm not hungover but I am really dehydrated lol.
That - as well as experiencing retrograde amnesia, which is incrementally scarier! Happened more than once, if I recall correctly (seriously).
Ah, the unmistakeable Voice of Steve Winwood...
I love this song. My personal favorite version is Steve Winwood singing this song solo and playing acoustic guitar in front of a fireplace.
Scary part is that once we get as old as I am, we can't even walk home, regardless of how wasted we are. In my case, what a long (and interesting) strange trip it's been.
Steve Winwood, the songwriter, the vocal, and acoustic guitar.
An immense talent. So much music with Traffic and on his own too.

...also Traffic's THE LOW SPARK OF HIGH HEELED BOYS, the title track from that album - Steve Winwood lead singer and co-writer.
You've heard of a one hit wonder. Well this was a one album Wonder. 😊 I remember when I bought this album as a young 20-something I couldn't get enough of it. I'm 72 now and hearing it makes me melancholy
I informed my kids that I want this song played at my funeral. I decided that decades ago
That, and It's A Beautiful Day "White Bird".
That acoustic work 🔥

Ginger Baker on drums, he also played with Clapton in the power trio Cream with bassist/ vocalist Jack Bruce 🔥 r I p to both Jack and Ginger

Incredible supergroup and let's not forget ginger baker on drums. Beautiful song. Thanks for the reactions.
Oh the memories that this song carries!
Shout out to the incomparable Joe Cocker who did a superb cover of this great tune - a must listen
Many of your subs know every word and can sing along with Steve..... Smiling

Spark Up My Pipe, get Wasted, good thing I'm at home.
My favorite song of all time. Listened to it daily for almost 60 years. ❤
Beautiful indeed -
'Love seeing you react in real time to this special music.
Thanks greatly for your love of song -
Thank you, my friend, for all your hard work, great commentary, and fantastic music. You always bring light into the darkness.
Thanks for the kind words!
Great song❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Winwood is a great guitar player too. The best part of this song for me is the way the two guitars noodle and dance around each other.

@AliasMark69 I do too! I bet mine are better than yours 😂

Faith Hill - It Matters To Me
Winwood was a very good guitarist and keyboard player but probably his voice was his greatest instrument.
Steve was a child prodigy. He plays multiple instruments well. Joined The Spencer Davis Group at 16 yrs old and has never looked back.
Steve Winwood was called "the white Ray Charles," back when that was thought to be a compliment, not a bad thing.
Love Steve Winwood, and Ray Charles. But if there is a white Ray Charles, at least vocally, it has to be Joe Cocker. You can easily hear either of them doing the other one’s songs.
Happy to add this classic to your folder. Getting close to 500 songs. The most from any "Reactor" in 6 years of watching.

You should listen to their "Sea Of Joy!"
Just one of the many times Clapton worked with other artist to create great music.
