    "KISS", this is the simplest explanation of pinion angle. If folks don't understand it after watching this video they shouldn't be working on their vehicles. Thank you again.

    Well explained AJ. Like you I prefer to keep it around 1-2 degrees to allow for pinion climb during acceleration.
    Now keep in mind this only applies to double cardan driveshaft as a standard u-joint driveshaft will be different.

    • @ALongLongWaytoGO
      @ALongLongWaytoGO  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly why I mentioned the double joints. Which I believe most have by now if they’ve done any work to their Jeeps lifting them…And if not…stock shafts die FAST !!!

    nice explanation on rear pinion angle! Caster angle for front end is also a topic that can get overly complicated on the TH-cams... Have a great day and thanks for sharing the common sense approach to things!

      Fully agree….Did you see ours on Caster? Just try and keep it simple.

    Bravo, You're the man. My quest to confirm my thoughts after 4 other pinion videos has been accomplished. I dont have adj control arms yet but I guess Ill need them when I put these new Adam shafts in. I'm rolling in a 2 door JK with currently a pos spacer 2" lift on pos oem springs but I am piecing together a Clayton 2.5" overland kit.

      Thank you. Just wanted it to be super simple. So many get into all these tangents….Just the facts right. I highly recommend the Rock Krawler arms. Love them. If you can swing Core….Definite cats meow. Check out @Rock Solid Rig….they have a discount code in their description. Also if you want to stay with Clayton Offroad check out Ben’s channel at JK Gear and Gadgets….he probably has a discount code for Clayton…..they sponsor him.

    Wow! That is simply awesome! Newbie question, will this work on a JL? Also, I just have the stock driveshaft does this change anything, I see conflicting info that the type makes a difference on how to measure? And assuming Jeep has to be at ride height with tires on?

      Ohhhh…..can’t remember if I mentioned….the numbers may only be relevant for double carden joints….Stock driveshafts will take different degree set.

      @@DrunkenAussieAdventures one of the side effects of lifting the suspension. Pretty much why the majority say if you go over about 2 1/2”’s…..adjustable arms become mostly a must have. I have seen 3” lifts get away with non-adjustable arms…but it definitely starts pushing pinion angles on stock driveshafts.

    Awesome video! It appears your springs are bowing in the rear, not sure if anyone else has had this issue when running a double cardan shaft and keeping the driveshaft pinion angle within 1 degree. I have a Jeep JK w/ 4.5" lift, it created Spring Bow, to correct this I had to install new spring perches (Aztec) so the springs would not bow severely.

    • @ALongLongWaytoGO
      @ALongLongWaytoGO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They do need to be corrected some to be perfect….it hasn’t really caused me any additional issues when stretched out….but maybe I’ll go ahead and correct them this winter while the Jeep is down for maintenance.

    But as long as the floor is flat does it even matter 0 or 20 degrees? Your just measuring the difference between the two the jeep could be on a slight hill wouldn't matter

    the pinion angle should be as close to the same angle as the transmission spline, not the driveshaft, the driveshaft angle is irrelevant
