I can remember this version of the band - Bierkeller in Sheffield early 80s - bit shocked at the change in personnel but my fears were unfounded - as usual a blistering set of high octane R and B - Lee was certainly driven to perform on a stage . I still miss my shot of RnB with Lee RIP
Saw Johnny Guitar firstly with sparko and figure at Leeds Polytechnic and then later with Pat and Buzz as in this clip at Bradford University circa 1981/2 , they were fantastic gigs!
These guys are pure electric they have always run volts through my being ,, what a magic set of musicians ,, they give out magical vibs , i will always adore them xx Jane xx
One of my favourite Bands see them late 70's twice with Gypie Mayo my favourite line up actually and with Gordon Russell aswell plus just before Lee died with Steve Walwyn plus the latest line up but not the same without Lee.....but great to see them still carrying the torch
This is great,I'd never knew any footage existed of this unrecorded line-up,It's also great to hear a couple of tracks from "Fast Woman & Slow Horses" it's a pity that they stopped performing tracks from this album when this line-up split.
Blimey, this is a rarity! Just come to this from watching a vid of the weak-as-water version that's around these days, there really is no comparison, the full, raging sound of Lee's voice replaced by someone who sounds like he has a cold all the time. Great to hear Dr Feelgood as they should be.
This is probably the last gig they (Lee, Johnny, Buzz and Pat) did, on French TV show "Écho des Bananes" recorded late December 1982 and shown on French TV on January 23rd 1983. On December 19th Dr Feelgood were in Belgrade at the Pinky Hall, but Pat McMullen recalls that "Échos des Bananes" was the last 'concert' they did together.
Great find this. Johnny Guitar is the only one I did not see live playing with Feelgood. Although I did see Feelgood backed by the Bishops about 1980. I am one of the minority that actually rates Fast Women and Slow Horses as one of my faves - shame that line up was so fleeting.
It was a bummer when the Count Bishops called it a day, but I have to say I was very pleased when Johnny and Pat joined Lee in the Feelgoods. It would be hard to think of a more appropriate slot for them to garner. It also meant that two songs I written with Johnny ended up in their repertoire, an honour (Eileen & Waiting for Saturday Night).
Dave Tice - Hello Dave, I'm the one who uploaded this video... I saw the Feelgoods with Johnny Guitar here in Italy on March 1982 (With Big Figure and Sparko still in the line-up)... They played Waiting For Saturday Night too, which is really a great r'n'r song... But have The Bishops actually recorded it or released it as a single, as I've never managed to find the "original version"?... Best regards!
The C.Bs never released the song (insert your name) although I do recall a rather hazy recording session in Sydney during a short tour we did in Australia 1979.which probably included that song. Frankly my memories of that time are not the best, we were in Oz to do some last shows with Paul Balbi because he was no longer allowed to live in England and over the course of about 6 weeks we toured the East coast back and forth, much of it in an alcohol and grass haze. It's possible there may be copies of that song floating around in Oz but I have no idea if it was even released there.
Hi Dave. Great memories of the Count Bishops. Thank you. I saw the band in Newport Wales, it must have been 1977 ish. Also supporting Camel in Cardiff maybe a year before with Zenon.
pit2ryan3 ... Oh, man! This is SO gr8! THANX for your eff-ittz hereoh!. 1st saw Feelgood way back 1967-8, when I was only just a young & hot to trot 15, 16yr old farkn wannabee. Then again, 10, 11yrs later. That's it. Only twice in my life. But once was enuff. And Rev Black & The Rockin' Vickers... eneebody rememba them...!!!???
That's the great Buzz Barwell on drums, used to be with Lew Lewis band. Only saw him once with feelgoods @ red lion in Brentford. If ever anyone could step into big figures shoes it was him. Sadly I think he past away few years ago [correct me if I'm wrong?]. Great drumming on crazy about girls.
+barwelldk One of my favourite drummers, great on 'crazy about girls', I used to see him with Lew Lewis reformer, Dingwalls, Marquee, etc. Do you play at all?
+Sean Sewell It's a pity that Lee found it necessary to sack Buzz due to his drink problem as I think if Buzz had stayed in the band they would have maintained that rough powerful sound which they had with The Big Figure's drumming & that they lost with Kevin Morris (far too slick).
+TheWaverley66 I didn't know he had drink prob? I saw that line up once at Red Lion, Brentford, Buzz had to leave stage 2/3 thro the set to be sick, as it was so loud! {IT WAS}, rat scabies took over on drums . Saw Johnny guitar at one of the Brilleaux memorials at Oyster fleet hotel, he was well outa practice [crap].
I completely missed them a that time. what a loss but, trying to keep up. I (re)discover, that strength and, what an awful one. Wilko was one of his own (exceptional) but Lee didn't fail to impress either. x,x Gb

Lee is still THE MAN....what a singer/performer!
Buzz Barwell (★ - 31 January 2004) was a British drummer. Short time member of Dr. Feelgood.
Lee Brilleaux (10 May 1952 - 7 April 1994) was an English rhythm-and-blues singer and musician with the band Dr. Feelgood.
Saw Johnny Guitar firstly with sparko and figure at Leeds Polytechnic and then later with Pat and Buzz as in this clip at Bradford University circa 1981/2 , they were fantastic gigs!

This is Great, that was a smashing album!
I remember the guitar player in a great band called The Count Bishops.
Andrew Stephens yeah this is Wilco not
Johnny guitar
@@mikelib100 No it`s not Wilko. He left in 77 and didn`t play with Feelgood again in Lee`s lifetime.
On this video , it's the Count Bishop band with Lee Brilleaux !!!

Hi Rob, you've done it again. Excellent upload. Well done!
Excellent !

+Sean Sewell He passed in 2004, only a few days before his birthday. May he rest in peace. He was a great father, the first eight years of my life.
+barwelldk One of my favourite drummers, great on 'crazy about girls', I used to see him with Lew Lewis reformer, Dingwalls, Marquee, etc. Do you play at all?
Indeed I do! I love playing all kinds of music, as well as singing. :)
Generally performing in front of people is a passion of mine. :)
+Sean Sewell It's a pity that Lee found it necessary to sack Buzz due to his drink problem as I think if Buzz had stayed in the band they would have maintained that rough powerful sound which they had with The Big Figure's drumming & that they lost with Kevin Morris (far too slick).

saw them live in 1982-same line up----a terrible nite---no slam-no rockin-
long live the count bishops!
Great rock n roll sound!! Who’s on bass & drums?
Pat McMullen is on bass and Buzz Barwell is on drums 😎🎸🥁
Brilleaux would know what to do
this band rarely got hold of the original members.Changing and swapping everyother gig.
Until 82 when Figure and Sparko left apart form Wilko leaving the line up was stable. After 82 it was a bit changeable.
Wow Lee looks quite stressed in this episode?
@kathrin - Maybe a bit nervous...
@@pit2ryan3 must apologise.
Wait! Johnny Guitar played with the Feelgoods? And I never knew anything about this until *2017*? *Hangs head in shame*.
David Osler - They released the album "Fast Women & Slow Horses" (in 1982) and the single "Waiting For Saturday Night b/w Eileen" (in 1981).
Don't Feelgood. Feel bad!!!
Je préfère de loin wilko
I completely missed them a that time.

To separate boys from men.
Great! No facy clodes nor hyoe hairstyle just PLAY IT!
Lee is always good, but Wilco is missing here
So are The Big Figure and Sparko!
