The Rock looks unrecognizable, and he picked the perfect guy to do a biopic on. Plus you have Ryan Bader as The Hammer! As far as Im concerned, all the guys from this era deserve a movie. They fought for free and should be taken care of.
Ryan bader?? Thats lame as hell, the rock is way bigger then ryan, coleman and Kerr were nearly the same size. They should of found someone else imo
@@bennetttyler6019 Knowing Hollywood, they could have cast Queen Latifah as Mark Coleman, I'm happy they went with a MMA guy.
And Bas Rutten as himself 😂
@@bennetttyler6019 they should peak Dave batista as coleman
Mark Kerr actually made really good money in Pride
Mark Kerr, mark coleman and fighters of that era all deserve their own movie of some sort. The challenges they had to go through is crazy and they helped build the sport with bringing new eyes and interest etc
I still have a physical DVD of The Smashing Machine. I am a huge Kerr fan
My Favorite Chael Pieces are when he tells OG stories.
The only reason I knew what the UFC was in 1993 is because it was advertised in the commercial breaks of WCW events. Me and my gf at the time ordered the VCR tape of UFC's first (or maybe second) event and watched it in utter astonishment. We took that tape all over town and showed it to all of our friends. We watched it over and over again. If it weren't for pro-wrestling, I wonder if UFC would have ever gotten off the ground... ?
It took off slightly because most people like me saw it advertised on cable, taped it and took those tapes all around town like you. I didn't know about the wrestling promotions but that obviously helped too. The singest biggest event that took the UFC mainstream however was the Ultimate Fighter show.
You watched it over and over all over town with all of your friends and can't remember if it was Ufc 1 or 2? I call bullshit.
@@wut3358Sunshine, that was 30 years ago.
@@wut3358 You're a buffoon.
MMA was created in Japan based on pro wrestling. In America they’re definitely cousins through guys like Shamrock and Severn
I'm sure a large part of Dwayne's motivation for taking this role was to live vicariously through another MMA fighter's career knowing he never got the chance to compete.
But... He told Joe he almost became a Pride fighter in 1997
@@kidneystonermusicbiggest bs ever
The only person that stopped the rock from competing in MMA is?
= The rock
@@unkownboi67is_unavailable62 pro wrestlers never lie and Joe Rogan never believes a lie
@kidneystonermusic he said he "thought about it" not "almost became" their's a distinct difference lol. Funny how the messages/stories get misconstrued and lost in translation depending on the person retelling it 🙄 lmao
Mark kerr still alive. Would prefer to see a documentary with bunch of his previous fights and interviews, making new interviwes and reactions about it.
Those glasses on Chael blend 2024 with 1980 seamlessly.
He’s got the Tully Blanchard vibes, just missing the sports coat
Vale Tudo...man that was good. Miss watching Kerr fight.
I've been waiting for this movie with "The Rock" starting as Mark Kerr in "The Smashing Machine" since it was 1st announced!
Bot
Will it be released in theaters or Netflix
The Rock is going to win an Academy Award for this movie!
Chael is the best at this
Uncle Chael vs The Rock in a Boxing match
Mark Kerr's headbutts were BONKERS
He is the only man to ever win via stoppage due to his CHIN! 😂
mark kerr story needs to be told. so glad a mainstream guys like the rock will speak for the mma community. thanks uncle chael ive been following you since the babalu fight. i turley appreciate everything you have done from the sport. im such a hard core fan that i would go toe to toe with you on mma history and then show you why i deserve a job at bad guy inc.
Why not get an MMA guy to speak for MMA? The Rock? It would be like getting Hulk Hogan to play Royce Gracie or something. I don't see the point.
I do admit the Rock is bigger than Hulk Hogan, and maybe this will help MMA, but I doubt it.
@@lucianp2616because he’s a fuckin actor, doofus. Actors act. And for biopics, they act like people who were or are alive… You really this daft?
@@lucianp2616not many mma guys can carry a major film. Bas plays himself in the movie, not sure how big of a part he has.
@@peacefrog64 And why not give them a chance to try? And if you are going to put an actor to play Mark Kerr, why on earth choose The Rock? He looks nothing like the man and I don't know what special effects white face trickery they are going to use to try to make him look like Mark Kerr, but it seems easier to just give a real actor a chance.
The Rock is basically using celebrity power to do this. This is not being done because it's going to be a good movie. It's not being done to help some new actors start a career. It's a tribute movie, with a high powered celebrity in the main role, in makeup so he won't look anything like how he normally looks, and I just don't see the point.
Mark Kerr has a Smashing Machine documentary already.
@@lucianp2616 I’m not disagreeing with you. Pro wrestling was before my time so I’m no fan of Johnson based on what he’s done on screen so far in his career. Not saying he’s not successful, just doesn’t come across as having much dramatic range? But then again from what I understand he had the rights to the Kerr’s story and finally after many years managed to get the deal done, hopefully Mark receives something out of it.
Great Video Chael !
Uncle Chael it's also directed by the people who did uncut gems. That movie was epic. So, it in good hands
The Rocky Johnson isn’t a bad guy. He’s a little corny at times but he’s never really done anything so awful lol. And i don’t even like wrestling like that. Although the attitude era was the shit
He went bad recently.
@@RonniePTexan I wasn’t aware of anything, what did he get himself into lately? 😅
@@nickmuaythaiandfitness Go look at what he said and did to Cody Rhodes. He went full blown heel. They built it up for weeks. The Rock cussed more in those two weeks than he's cussed in his life. Then when Cody wrestled for the belt he jumped in and beat up Cody again. Then out of nowhere the lights went out and suddenly the Undertaker popped up and crushed The Rock to help Cody win the title. Was awesome
Oh please.thats storytelling.its plot .it just makes cody story exciting by adding new element@@RonniePTexan
@@jeevanpb3479 I know it's story telling brother. I was just pointing out that the Rock went hard core heel recently.
This is huge for MMA fans especially Pride fans!!
One of these days I also hope they make a movie about Igor Vovchanchyn.
HW boxing champ Usyk is playing as Igor Vovchanchyn in this movie
Who didn't look forward to watching Mark Kerr (in his prime) obliterate his opponents! I hope the movie is good.
Looking forward to the movie big time!
Clue : Randy Couture 😅
Would love to see a story about Evan tanner
Come on chael you know the Japanese audience only sees "fighting spirit" it does not matter what the rule set is.
If rock has a fight equal to his fight against Dom Toretto, GREAT MOVIE
Somebody get a 2-hour documentary on Mark Kerr pretty good
I agree with Chael.
It is REALLY important that THE ROCK gets this right!
If this is just terrible, not only will MMA as a cultural phenomenon suffer but so will Dwyane.
I have massive expectations for this film as a huge fan of the documentary it is based off.
Safdie? I'm in.
This one was a masterpiece 😹
Where the hell did this documentary disappear to? I saw it in 2006 with poor subtitles (pre-CI) and wanted to rewatch it. Cannot find it.
Facebook
Mr Sonnan. With respect. How the F where you never a heel? You drip heel. You may be the greatest heel in MMA.
It’s In The hands of Benny safdie
It’s in good hands
The Rock looks like he's playing Chael....
Why does Chael look like a jacked up David Koresh?
I remember they announced this in 2019. I thought they scraped the idea.
Dwayne announced this 4 years ago.
Yer yapping m8
Brainrot
Steve-O def pays back. When mma comes up he talks so highly about it and proves to be quite educated in the latest happenings
Hope the Rock the best. Better not fuck this one up!
I truly like only MMA, in the past I liked boxing. However, fake stuff gets old.
Honest fights without too much talk.
THE REAL QUESTION IS WHATS UP WITH BAD GUYS LETHAL HANDS CERTIFICATE ON THE WALL
id like a Max Holloway movie
I read The Rock as sewing machine
Never liked fake wrestling.
Can you smelllllll what the undefeated is breaking down
Nate vs The Rock, book it
Why does chael look like and old time gangster with those glasses on? Forget about it.
Apparently Chazz has never seen The Smashing Machine? Lol
WrestleMania? lol , maybe I'm not in " our " community after all.
Jesus is coming back
I gotta say your makeup looks hella good tonight 😍 forgot to transition it down your sunburnt neck tho 😉 this guy 🤦
Chael needs glasses that fit better. Love the show though.
Halle berry paid back
Who Da Fook Is Dat Guy?!
Just give me a Silva, they all suck.
😎
Chael thinks Tyson fury won 💀
Sip usyk up when your done.
113 - 112 is a close fight
Then he did.
And he admittedly didnt watch the fight 🤣
@@iorn2736not everyone sucks their idols like you Fury girls do.
Cool movie idea the refs ate a really big part of mma
So he can do white face and it's not racist
Athlete didnt even have to do homework at my school
Smh buddy the rock bigger than anybody in the UFC’s history he didn’t need ufc people inviting him in or accepting him the ego on some guys is wild lol that’s the rock
lol thank you same thing I said the biggest movie star in the world
@@Blazenetwork1990 lol and this man talking like the Rock should be grateful some ufc dudes accepted him like that matters to THE ROCK if anything they should be thankful he decided to do a ufc movie
They’ll most likely add unnecessary fictional storylines and alter timelines for no reason.
Before cloves ufc was interesting and brutal. Use love no cloves and rules, no weight limit. I love all 3 Boxing, Wrestling and Mma.
The Rock is 52. How old was Mark Kerr when he was fighting? Not 52.
Does the rock look like your average 52 year old .
No, he doesn't. That alone leans in his favor that he can pull this off.
@@kev30631Dwayne sucks, no will even watch
Mark kerr and all pioners deserve movies... but since gaylywood is promoting weird stuff i wish they didnt made movies about this legends. Im afraid they would mess it up.
You have millions of dollars, but can’t buy a pair of glasses that fit your nose?! Hollllly
Thats 80s style. Vice city miami
@@flowrepins6663 I didn’t say anything about the style…. Those glasses are clearly too big for his nose, when he’s constantly pushing them back onto his bridge
The Rock would get sub by Andrew Tate
Wouldn't they say this is black face if a white person played Michael Jackson or something similar? I find this choice odd for the Rock to be in this role. He might be a good actor, but it doesn't make any sense to me. Why The Rock for this role?
First
Yikes! Made zero sense, so all over the place Chael 😂😂😂 gotta get figure out how to get 38 vids up today tho so.....
Tito tapped
Nah.
More woke A24 cringe, tell me why again is the Rock playing Mark Kerr? He is black and samoan, Mark Kerr is a white guy from Ohio if this was done the other way round it would of been called racist by the same woke clowns that are making this movie.
Kerr is Puerto Rican. If you were to look at prime Kerr, he's the same skin colour as the rock
The rock sucks. I won’t be supporting any projects of that phony.
Then why are u here
The get hell out of here
