  • In this video I talk you through all of the equipment I use to capture weddings as a solo videographer. I like to keep my equipment as minimal as possible to avoid decision fatigue and keep me light on my feet. The essence of my films is to capture as many natural moments as possible and this gear setup allows me to do that discreetly.

    I like your kit dude, Everything you need for a wedding you have in a very small bag(well 3 bags). Much to learn from you.

      Thanks so much, been a bit of trial and error but I think I have my perfect setup now. I can strip it down further too for when I do destination weddings and need to be even more minimal

    Great overview, really helpful. I currently use Rode wireless pro with the 32bit float, but find them quite annoying to use. May consider switching to purely Sony tx660

    • @roo_films

      Thanks for watching Jacob, I've got a set of the Rode 2 wireless ones, find them super handy for corporate work but I do worry about radio interference during a wedding. I've experimented with so many different audio setups but always seem to find myself coming back to the trusty TX650 for weddings.

    That Victiv tripod looks great, the K&F ones are sometimes a bit too short. Might have to get one of those

      Hey mate, this is the one from the video which is great but not the most hardwearing it already has quite a few rips:

      I'm considering this one next as it has separate compartments to stop the tripods bashing against each other:

    Great video, brother! How do you keep people from knocking your tripods over?

    • @roo_films
      @roo_films  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks man, with the tripods I just make sure to place them where people are unlikely to have to move to. But if I do need to position them where they could be knocked over I speak to the guests close by so they are aware of them.

      @@roo_films I figured as much. Wasn't sure if you sandbagged them somehow, or something similar. I've done a fair number of events with people around that may be enjoying a bit of libations, and it's always scary having a few thousand dollars sitting vulnerable, lol

      @TheFandangovideoguy หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@roo_films The FX30 is light-maybe the same as your A7Siii...but I don't trust any monopod to be solid enough to stay balanced with a camera on top...too many people around...but I have several tripods instead.

    Do you ever get the fear of kit getting nicked, when you have to leave it somewhere whilst you're running around? Obviously there's insurance but I still struggle to abandon kit sometimes when working solo!

    • @roo_films
      @roo_films  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't worry too much to be honest, most venues I shoot are private hire. I do hide my gear when it's not in use though, mainly so its' not an eye sore for the guests. If anything like that was to happen (something getting stolen) I could still shoot a whole wedding with the contents of my leather satchel that stays with me at all times. One camera, my Sony mics and spare batteries are all I need if push came to shove

    why do you not get access to the decks?

    • @roo_films
      @roo_films  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's just not a thing in the UK. Venues just have rubbish sound systems where even the staff don't know where the access to them is. People don't hire in sound tech s and engineers like they do in the States

    How many assistants do you work with? setting up three cameras, lights, tripods etc. is very time consuming when you are trying to capture all points of the event.

    • @roo_films

      I shoot all my weddings alone, no assistants. This video shows how I mange a whole wedding day from start to finish:
