Great tool! Thank you SO MUCH! Took me a while to get it working on my laptop but the Obs tutorial site is really great. Now I just have to clarify the problem that it shows my desktop as maaaany many mirrors of itsself but I suppose, that will work out, too.

I have done nothing to the settings yet my screen does not look like the video. Once I choose Source I see a small version of my screen and a red toggled line around the image against a black background, I can’t get my P/Point into Full screen mode without it deleting my OBS view. After making all the settings as explained, the recorded video bears no resemblance to the PowerPoint. I can start a recording but it bears no relation to anything on screen and there’s no sound. Something’s not right....if only Powerpoint would enable a user to make a full video with narrations and animations, then none pf this would be necessary. I’ve been trying this for nearly three hours and getting nowhere!....had another attempt and OBS was ok to record the screen before I went to run the P/P but as soon as I went to F5 it stopped recording anything.

So I gather that we don't want the slideshow to run in full screen. We want it to run in a window. But when I run it in a Window my Impress insists on including the "File Edit View..." toolbar at the top and I can't figure out how to make it go away. Very annoying.
Hi it does not work for me. Following the video and when pressing F5 the presentation starts but there is no way to get to OBS without pressing ESC as there is no bar on the bottom. Is there a solution?

I am facing some issues in using OBS Studio 25.08 version. When I use Display capture, I see only a blank screen and the same is seen in the recording. Then tried Window capture. No office.bin:null option seen in Window section but instead it lists the apps that are open. If the ppt is in full screen mode, then OBS Studio window is also present and also no change in slides in the recordings. Kindly help

Hi, I am trying to capture my ppt slideshow, but I can't get the slides to change while I am recording. Do I have to do each one separately?
Dawn, have you found a solution? My video does not show the full screen pic of the presentation and also does not change any slides. :(
In the case of OBS, I believe you have to be in the studio mode. Two windows are displayed. One is a preview window while the one on the right is the actual presentation that others see. I think that you would advance the slide in the preview window. Then use a transition feature to actually display the new slide to your audience. OBS will let you fades or cuts to the new slide.
Also review the video from 4:00 to 4:59. He shows how to resize the camera window. Most important at about 4:50 he says to alt tab or click into your presentation. You will have full control of impress at that point. This works be OBS was configured to select only the impress window. You don't always have to have OBS full screen.

Anybody any ideas how to advance the slides in powerpoint. I followed his instructions but they don't work. I tried browsed by an individual but that shows a black screen. Very frustrating.

So open your presentation. Set the presentation into the presentation mode (F5 /F11 buttons in PowerPoint and libre office presentation respectively). Then go to the OBS and select from the drop-down menu at it presented at 2:06. You will get 2 choices that correspond at PowerPoint. In my case, I have Ms. PowerPoint (ppt) so my choices are ppt. exe preview presentation Microsoft Presentation and ppt.exe Microsoft office presentation, I selected the first option PREVIEW PRESENTATION and voila...problem solved. If you select the second option you will the first slide "frozen".
@@kgeehomie6091 how can I have the presentation in "presentation mode" and then go to OBS. I will automatically leave the presentation mode in the second that I want to use the OBS.
@@katzenverhaltenkatzengesun9589 if you press the Windows key while you are in presentation mode, you can switch from presentation to obs , so you can select from slide up menu like 2:06.
@@kgeehomie6091 Wow, ok, I was about to give up. But then I managed at least to do it like this: in Impress: set "Presentation in a window". That doesn't give me a perfect full screen but for today I am happy. Maybe after sleeping the thing over, I will try again with full screen testing tomorrow. Thanks anyway for you advice!

why the hell is your presentation-source called "[soffice.bin]:(null)"???? would my presentation have a similarly cryptic name that I'd have to guess?

First of all thanks for the video!!! It is very helpful for us. I have one question. In my case, the powerpoint seems to be frozen on the first slide. Do you know how to solve this issue? ps The camera works perfectly!!!

@@-mounirharrir3155 I did... And I can give more details in 1-2 days as a been long time that I used this program. If I can recall from my memory well, I did some settings in the window, but I can come back to you, maybe tomorrow and I will tell you exactly what I did, if this works for you.

This method repeatedly does not work.
For those, who like me, are experiencing issues with recording PPT presentations on OBS, I'd recommend directly saving your PPT presentations as videos. It's quite straight forward: go to ‘Slide Show’, click on ‘Record Slide Show’ then save as a ‘MPEG-4 Video’. I am attaching below the link to a few quick videos to get you started:

you don't have to find null thing. First, click start recording and go back to your presentation in Powerpoint or something. When u finish your ppt, click stop recording and go to your video
