    I have several of the Hikvision version of this. Love them. They have mics built in. See the little hole on white part if base? I could see it in video. Just enable audio in the settings. Motors are quiet, and camera sits still most of the time, so no issues hearing what's going on around house. I use mine with blue iris. Ptz presets are on schedules for different views at different times. Plus I can jump in and take over if I need to pan or zoom to see what's happening in closer detail. After timeout, it returns to scheduled preset ptz. I also prefer ptz over fixed cams due to ability to make slight adjustments to the view, without needing to climb a ladder each time. Fixed cams with zoom can only zoom to center of view, while PTZ can zoom to anywhere you want. The led lights on this are clever. They are fixed, so they don't turn with the lens. Very stealth. Not super bright though. So if using this outdoors or in a large indoor space, you might want to add a supplemental IR led floodlight. Use IR so it is invisible to humans. Again, stealthy. Only things I wish these had... built in speaker, bigger zoom like 8x or 16x, but then it wouldn't be so tiny. As they are, you really don't see them from street until I tell you they are there, and even then you have to look for them.

      I did enable audio but maybe I enabled the input and not the onboard mic. I will dig around again.

    PTZ cameras are really designed to be used in a system that is monitored 24/7. For unmonitored system, it's generally a better practice to install more static cameras to cover the desired POV. This way the system will always capture the entire scene and not just where the camera happened to be pointing (or where the AI decided to put the camera if it has AI).
    Because PTZ cameras add so much cost for the moveable parts, you can usually buy 2-4 static cameras for the same price of a single PTZ (assuming cameras are all equal quality). So it can be more expensive to use PTZ cameras vs several static cameras.

      Yep, I do believe I talked about them being complements to static cameras. Cover the area first with regular cameras then throw in a PTZ for high traffic areas when you want to be nosey. I installed a PTZ over a year ago on one side of the house and the wife and I couldn't go back.

      @@digiblurDIY I am right with you on this. My neighbors are all gang members and watch my house because they hate all of my cameras. Sometimes I need to keep an eye on THEM without them knowing all of my capabilities. The amcrest Death Star is obvious, intimidating and it even telegraphs where it’s pointing since it’s all white with the dark circle, so something like this is good too at times!

      @@digiblurDIY how was it compared to the amcrest or reolink ptz?

      I'd have to put it between the Amcrest and Reolink with it edging out Reolink.

    Hi, Great video. You mentioned that you liked the size of this camera, but never detailed the dimensions. Was hoping you could provide the dimension of the diameter at its widest point, where the black plastic ring and the white base meet. Need that dimension for a specific installation and would appreciate any details on that front. Thank you!

      Sorry I don't have that dimension. You could try the sales Dept of the company, if they don't answer then it is the ultimate test to move on.

      @@digiblurDIY Thanks, yea just found the little notches in the black part. Slid a guitar pick under there and it popped off. Unfortunately the bottom portion is basically metal and everything is screwed into that base. So getting that off and painting it isn't going to be as simple as I thought :(

      Have a look at Hikvisions 12mp fisheye camera, it's a clever bit of kit but it's a bit costly, DS-2CD63C5G0-1 VS and IS models

    How do these dome cameras hold up to dirt? I've if gonna install them under my second floor eaves, I want to know I won't have to get on a ladder and clean them off every 1 or 2 weeks

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is sealed so it would hold up. For the lens, it's going to be the same as any camera. Massive dust storm and if dirt gets on the lens that would require a cleaning.

    • @tyber4053
      @tyber4053 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They come with a plastic sheet to protect dome while installing. Do not remove it until the last minute. Don't touch dome with fingers, which have skin oil on them. If you're careful, lens will be very clear, and I suspect they have some kind of water-phobic coating. My domes stay very clear, so far (about 6 months), outdoors under eaves.

    • @drewlyons3932
      @drewlyons3932 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tyber4053 Ah ok. That makes me feel better. Does the dome affect night vision at all?

    • @tyber4053
      @tyber4053 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drewlyons3932 yes and no. When I first got them setup, the night quality was awful. The dome was causing all kinds of rings and reflections. Then I realized I had them set for a "daytime" or "outdoor" preset. I set a schedule so just before sunset, they switch to "low illumination" preset. This fixed the problem for 4 of my 5 cameras. One camera is in a very dark outdoor area on side of house, so it still had a little reflection. But then I realized I had the LEDs turned off. I set them to auto and it works great now. Also, if yours will be outdoors, or in a large indoor area, you may need more light. I have a street light in front of our driveway, so I get full color night vision there, and I leave the camera's leds off. But in back yard, it is very dark, fairly large yard. Leds were not bright enough. In a case like that, I recommend infrared (IR) led floodlight to add more night vision. The IR floods are invisible to human eye, so they won't disturb neighbors at night. But they light up a big area like daytime. Do what I did, buy one camera at first, and set it up for some testing. If you don't like it, send it back within return period.

    • @drewlyons3932
      @drewlyons3932 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tyber4053 Gotcha. That's some great advice right there. However, IR floods need to be plugged into an outlet right? Itd be a lot of work to install outdoor outlets just for the IR lights. Have you seen the night vision on the new wyze cam 3? It looks unreal...almost like daylight in the dead of night. Do you know of any ip cams that have night vision that good?
