  • Hi Guys....
Welcome back to another Yonder Mountain Adventure.
what a wild night this was. started with road closure then police blocked area off due to an explosive device being found then caught in a storm which was not forecast.......
    a crazy night indeed....
I did manage to see Edinburgh at its finest high above the city in the PENTLAND HILLS.....
I hope you enjoy the Adventure.
stay tuned for some Highlands adventures on next week's video.
    thanks for watching
    ATB

Great to have a week of work and the freedom to roam and camp. Amazing views of Edinburgh- not your usual wild camp view, Spectacular 👍👍

Beautiful camp and views there, but yes, you're right, you cant trust the potential widow makers. Where we go regularly, there are always new massive trees falling. In high wind storms, they put signs up, not to go thru the wood ( looks like a forest to us) lol. Its one of two favourite hikes to us, but it's amazing to see just how little holds those massive trees into the ground on mountainous land.

Cracking views over Edinburgh, something different. As for the BBC weather app, it's actually different to BBC weather on the TV 😮. Look at the App and think the complete opposite and you'll be ok

Just came across your channel and subscribed. Good call to bail. The weather can get pretty rough around the Pentlands. You were at Bonaly reservoir, pronounced "Bunalley".

Hi.... thanks for watching and for the sub much appreciated. Its such a lovely area I'll definitely be back maybe next time pitch on the city side for the views ?. Hahahha thank you for the assistance with the pronunciation 🤣. I'll remember that. ATB Simon

@YONDERMOUNTAINADVENTURES The best views on the city side would be from Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park, but camping isn't permitted there. If you like the Pentlands, follow the A702 out of Edinburgh (from Lothianburn junction on the A720 city bypass). That road runs alongside the Pentlands. Find somewhere to park and make your way up into the hills. Be careful on Castlelaw as there's an army firing range up there. A bit further on, there's a good pub called The Flotterstone Inn. There's parking behind the pub and a good walk from there up past Glencorse and Loganlea reservoirs and on into the hills. Further along the A702, there's a good walk up over Scaldlaw which takes you to Balerno. That's more open moorland though so not so many tree belts to camp in. I grew up in the area in a town called Penicuik, but am further out now and closer to the Lammermuir and Moorfoot hills now. I'm just looking for gear to start wild camping and so far, have done one overnight with just a tarp and decent waterproofs, lol. I'm liking those Night Cat tents. Do you think the one person Lanshan type tent would be big enough for me (slim, 5'6") and my dog (Staffie) ?

@@missbabybiker ahhh thanks so.much for all that info I'll be sure to take your direction!!! Always good to get the inside line 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.
That'd great you starting to get into wildcamping u will catch the bug hahaha. The 1 person nightcat Ultralight is snug for my 6' and broad but I rekon ull be great with it.... I think u and ur pooch could manage but would be snug tbh especially with ur pack. If u have a look at my loch skeen vid it'll give u a better idea of the internal size and best way to.maximise space.
If u have any questions about wildcamoing tips and gear feel free to message me happy to help. ATB Simon

      @missbabybiker 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@YONDERMOUNTAINADVENTURES Thanks Simon. I did watch your Loch Skeen video and that's what made me wonder about that tent.
I might go for the 2 man one instead then so that me and pooch have plenty of space 😁 Thank you.

@@missbabybiker ah nice one..... yeah the 2 person one is better only extra 500g but so spacious it'll make a huge difference for very little extra weight and pack size. Ull have to let me know what u get and where u both end up 👍

How do you find the OEX bag? Undecided whether to get the 300 or 400 at the minute, hoping for the first camp to be at Hen Hole in mid-spring!

I'll be honest mate haven't tried the 300 only ever had the ev400 or leviathan. I swear by the 400 mate it's always kept me warm even below 0°c. Also spacious and a good foot box too. Oh and god zip ....
