  • Klaus takes you step by step through the process of removing the Mercedes R170 SLK Main Lift Cylinders and replacing them with rebuilt and upgraded parts from Top Hydraulics, Inc. These hydraulic cylinders are responsible for raising and lowering the main portion of the top and are an integral part of the hydraulic convertible hard top system.

Amazing! Thanks for taking your time to make this video. Can we purchase the upgraded cylinders with a core charge and then when we have our old leakers out we can mail them back for a credit?

Thanks for your kind words, and thanks for asking. Indeed, we offer core exchange on all SLK cylinders individually or as a package of five, as well as the pump. Here is the R170 SLK section on our website: www.tophydraulics.com/20-r170-slk
Go to the part you are looking for and select "order now with core exchange" once you are in the listing for the part you are looking for. Add to cart, continue shopping, or proceed to checkout for easy payment via credit card or PayPal.

Hello, what is shown at 5:40 for removing that microswitch does not work over here. The cylinder seems bigger and there is no access for any hook or anything like you show in the video.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. The main lift cylinders are all the same size, as are the top frame and the switch. Hopefully, you will get there with some patience.

could give some hints on putting the end closest to the drivers back back in place ? like would it help to put some grease on it to get it to slip back into place ?

Indeed, a little bit of grease on the bushing would make it more maneuverable

    Hello
I have a leak (spot-puddle) on the floor of the hydraulic fluid under the right underbody of the trunk under the pump of my mercedes slk 200 .
I was to see under the trunk there is like a round black rubber hose
As soon as I activate the red button flash the pump empties and the fluid goes down on the ground
    What is this issue ?
What is the solution to solve
    Cordially
    Sandy

how come you didn’t show the removal of the left cylinder? plus the trim above it ? you jumped to the right all of a sudden!

We showed only the right side because we didn’t want to bore viewers with you unneeded footage. The left cylinder is easier to remove - we showed the more difficult one. Everything is mirror imaged on the left side compared to the right side, except the left side doesn’t have the micro switch.
