My father gave me his 2005 slk55 amg. He's having health issues and wanted me to have it. I thought i would get and sell it immediately. Idrove it a couple of times and had a blast. She may be a keeper. Im a diy guy so hopefully i can work on it myself. I took the blower motor out today because its not working. I applied 12v directly and it works. the regualtor is not corroded like other vids show. I need to find a way to test that, then work my way back to the fan speed control on the dash.
Your father sounds like a great man. Take care of that slk55 not only because of their Scarcity but its a gift from a father. Yes, this platform is a perfect platform to learn from not only because of its simplicity(minus the 7speed trans) but its layout and parts available for repairs/upgrades.
@@PANZERSGARAGE No, it didn't spin at all. I tested continuity on the blower motor resistor or regulator and i have continuity on the positive leg but not the negative. Id hate to spend 150 to find out that wasn't the problem. So, I'll double, triple check and do more research. Its snowing here in Indiana so i wont mess with the top yet, but while in the garage i tried to open it. The windows went down, the trunk opened, the top clicked but didn't move. My father said he only put the top down once. Hopefully the latches just need lubed. I see lots of vids where the headliner is off, but to do that the top must be opened first. That project will take place during warmer weather...Just in case. I popped the little round cover on the headliner and saw a allen key head...I don't know if that is a manual release of the latches. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for you informative videos. I would love to have that tune in my ride. I do feel that hesitation when i step on the gas. Sorry for blowing you up. @@madera412 Yes that center cap has the manual latch release but before you attmept to release latches using key. You should release pressure from the pump via the allen key route inside the center rear storage compartment. You just pop off little cover and insert allen key. You will need to fish around for it through the padding insulation but its there. Once you do that you can manually unlock latches. Before you attempt to pull back top you must pull back trunk lid as if it was being operated.
Thanks to your videos we replaced the top lock cylinder and refilled pump in 12 hrs with 2 mechanics. Removing seats was well worth the few minutes it took. No problems just lots of tedious steps. Top hydraulics was a godsend…perfect parts and service! Thank you, Thank you.

Il pannello dietro i sedili si smonta solo se la perdita di olio è stata massiccia , altrimenti non è necessaria .
Hello. I clean and condition the seal between the roof top and windshield. Also I oiled/grease the roof locks, but now it seems that it’s not locking correctly. Before it was fine. I had to clean my channels, because a little water will drip. It was clog. I would appreciate your advice and help. Love your channel. Mercedes

How do you remove e55 seats if they don’t work and lowered all the way to the ground? My car can’t communicate with any scan tool except reading codes! Car has one code P0600 Serial Communication link. No signal to instrument cluster is what the code says. I’m lost big time
They are based on hours @ $125 to $165hr average. From what I remember. Average indy quote was 3000 to 3600 to replace all 5 cylinders, the dealer should be higher. 1x Main lock latch,2x main lift supports and 2x trunk lift supports. The hours I cant recall for total labor time.

The hydraulic cylinder is leaking fluid. It's not an easy fix, and a dealer will charge you a few $1000... though not as much as $6500. I fixed mine for the cost of a new O-ring and a litre of fluid... but it took a lot of figuring out over several months. Just removing the roof lining is a tricky business.

The o-ring seal in the front hydraulic ram has failed. A reconditioned ram is only about $300, but you're in for a lot of labor cost because it's very difficult to remove.

You have to manually get the roof into the half open position. Not easy! You start by releasing the clips on the two rearmost hydraulic cylinders, then manually opening the boot/trunk (front side first). There are videos of this technique on TH-cam.

The front latch will inevitably fail over time, especially if you park the car in the sun. The O-ring perishes/hardens and can no longer resist the very high pressure in the hydraulic system.
That’s exactly what happened to mine. It was fine when she was a garage queen. Put a gym in the garage. Two years later boom hydraulic line busted in the front latch.

When up say it doesnt work do you mean at all? Or only at certain speeds?
