Yeah, and the fact is he shouldn't have gotten angry in the first place. The way he put Psychiatrists into the realm of either calling him 'crazy or making it up' is totally unfounded. There are numerous neurologically caused conditions that they deal with and diagnose. Granted, one of their main jobs is to talk to people with mental illnesses (such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.) but they deal with loads of other stuff in the brain that, for example, can cause pain despite there being no physical cause. Him getting angry was ridiculous, and then he started backing her into a corner, quite literally towering over her and intimidating her.

Yeah, there is this one episode in Chicago med when a doctor (lovely guy but his name escapes me) jumps from high up level in the hospital. There is a clip on youtube of it and it's so scary. He had made no actual attempt to cause her bodily harm at that point, he was only acting in an intimidating manner, but made no verbal threats of causing harm and made no attempt to actually harm her and nothing about his behavior indicates she was in immediate physical danger therefore she acted prematurely. Esspecially considering they are in a hospital with security staff every where for this exact reason, she should have called out for help and if he tried to touch her, then spray him. Any half decent lawyer could successfully make the case against her for assault and more than likely make it stick for her spraying him. Without any real indications she was in immediate Danger. There are laws in place that state you must respond to a threat with reasonable force the same way cops do, and since he had not even touched her, she broke the law by essentially throwing the first "punch" except in this case it was spray used, which is legally classed as a weapon so she could even be charged with assault with a weapon with intent. I get it, she was scared and she did what she felt she had to do to keep herself safe, but strictly in the eyes of the law she actually assaulted him.

    • @nicolelester1457

Yeah, but assault is defined as you think they are going to touch you, battery is actually touching you. That's why the charge is assault and battery. My mother is a nurse and had a situation a bit like this. She was in a nursing home and there was a patient that was known for attacking people, and he attacked her multiple times and even injured her arm to the point where she was in pain for months but it was never caught on camera, so nothing was done. he attacked her again and since she was already messed up she restricted him before he could hurt her agin, this time though it was on camera, here is where it went further down hill for her.
Since she restrained him before he could hurt her they claimed that she was abusing him or using excessive force and she was taken to court, none of the nurses there and her so called friends stood up for her as they didn’t want to get “ involved “ or if they did they said negative things just to save themselves from the backlash or just because they didn’t like her. she was fired and was no longer able to work in nursing homes. It wasn’t fair and my mother was one of the people who actually took care of the patients, cleaned them, moved them around to avoid bed sores and ect , she had told me about how there was other nurses who neglected the patients or abused them just because and no one did anything about it.
She struggled to find a job because of the apparent “abuse” being on her record, and has settled for being a at home nurse for a client.
The last thing she heard about the place was that the same patient who injured her, had seriously injured another nurse, it was the same guy!!! I don’t know much but I think the place was closed down or maybe expanded, but whatever was done I don’t feel sorry for them.

Keep in mind, I don't even watch the show, I just watch all these Chicago med clips. I love them. I definitely have to say, Dr. Halstead is my favorite character ❤

Working in a field where you have to care for others medically is not an easy job.
I definitely don't think psychiatry was Sarah's choice of career. I think she still needed to sought out where her gift lies.
I could see her working in nonprofit as a counselor with less severe cases

Hard to tell from camera angle but it looks like an overreaction. It looks to me like she had clear line of retreat into hallway. No line of retreat and I'd change my mind.

I understand that she could have felt threatened however there were too many other options before she did what she did. Let's also add when you're a psychiatrist you deal with mentally unstable people if you don't know how to do that you're in the wrong profession if you need to spray someone she should have pushed a button she should have called for help the last thing to do is to assault your patient she just did that

So something like "I am a doctor who checks how you feel mentally and spiritualy"
