    Nice Video’s! I actually have a 2022 SR22T and just about to surpass 700 hours as well. Congrats! Just thought I would share a cruise adjustment to help with CHTs and TIT’s Temps in cruise. Had a Cirrus Service Center manager share with me that if I would set you MP to 30.5 as normal and then set you mixture to 16.6/7 GPH , your percent of power should be at about 77%. Then the CHTs and TITs will stay lower in cruise. He was right. I now see our CHTs in the 330-350 temps depending on ambient temps, and we see our TITs steady between 1580-1590. Safe Flying!

    I have the same question as another. I’m curious how someone your age can fly around in a newer Cirrus? I learned to fly in 2004 and got to ride in one for the first time then. I was hooked. I was warned by the owner o the flight school that I would be spoiled forever. He was right. I quickly figured out there was no way I could afford one even with a sold job and career. It would be nice to hear a bit about your background and how you were able to get ahold of a SR22 at your age. As you know most will never fly one. They are just to expensive. Just curious how your doing this.

    • @westcoastflyer
      @westcoastflyer  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I love to hear your story! Yes, Cirrus can definitely spoil an aviator.
      My parents help support me on my dream to become a corporate pilot with the cirrus. It’s their plane, I’m just the only one who flies it.
      Take care!

    • @BayAreaCowboy
      @BayAreaCowboy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@westcoastflyerYour lucky to get to fly the Cirrus. After you fly one its hard to go back to an older plane. In 2004 the glass cockpit was just coming around. I got to fly a new 2006 model with full Garmen glass. I thought I was in a spaceship. When I climbed in and sat in the left seat for the first time I took a photo of the dash and the view down the wing with the Lamborghini doors open. It was pretty special. This was at Reid Hill View in San Jose Ca. The plane was owned by an excutive in a Silicon Valley company and the man who showed it to me got to fly it as the owner did not have his license. His next words to me as I flip the switch and the dash came to life was, "do you want to fly her"? I said "are you joking?" I thought I was just looking at her as a treat. We pushed her out of the hanger. I was in awe as I started her up. I will never forget it as I closed the Lamborghini door and moved the throttle up to taxi out. I think I was in shock really. I could not stop looking at the dash. It was the first glass cockpit I had ever seen. It was like a fancy video game compared to the 6 pack in all the school planes. I remember every detail. We taxied to the run up. The sound of the engine was amazing. I thought to myself was this real? Was this happening? The plane had so much more power than the planes at the school. I remember lining up to take off and the man who let me fly her said get ready to add left pedal as you roll in the throttle. He said go, hit it throttle up! Wow was all I could think. We took off fast. I was shocked as I pulled back on the side stick for the first time. Just the power and how smooth she was on climb out. It was not like any other plane I had been in. I flew her up the coast right along the beach and right between the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge. I got a picture of it. I will never forget that day or that flight in the Cirrus. After we got back I got out and just walked around and staired at the plane for a few minutes. We pushed her back into a private hanger. As I walked back to the school I was still thinking about it. That day flying the Cirrus changed me. There was no going back. I wish I could afford to buy one. Not a chance. Even with my solid career in LE I could not buy one. It was a dream. At least I got to fly her. I highly recomend to anyone if you can. Fly a Cirrus. Beware! It will change you as a new pilot. I was never the same again.

    Great flight, and congratulations on 700 hours! I was just curious about the oxygen use since I am a VFR only pilot at this point. When you plug in the tube, how do you know oxygen is flowing? Also, is that mass comfortable? I’ve seen people use the cannula‘s, and I always wonder whether or not that’s more comfortable, or just a straight up mask. Anyway, keep flying high, brother!

    • @westcoastflyer
      @westcoastflyer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thank you! I like to plug the O2 in on the ground before I even start the engines and make sure I have enough O2. Around 10k I’ll turn it on and put it at full blast where I can feel the O2 flowing so I know it’s not kinked. I then will set the O2 flow on the meter which is super simply by matching a ball ti the altitude im flying at. There are some systems where it only distributes oxygen when you breathe in so you save lots of O2…mine worked great but I just prefer the constant flow.
      And lastly, the masks aren’t the most comfortable but they sure are helpful to get up high and keep those oxygen levels up. You also feel cool in them :)

    I just found your channel and am enjyoing it. I fly a TN out of santa Rosa. Questions:
    Have you trained with a CSIP ? You have a lot of great habits
    Look at the mag checks in your engine data downloads. You get a better reading doing 45 seconds each with 45 seconds between
    Look at an O2D2 for oxygen. Along with a booom canula (below 18k) it a a game changer for me as I fly at 16-17k a lot
    Nice work!

    • @westcoastflyer
      @westcoastflyer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thank you sir! Santa Rosa Ca or FL? I just touched down in Santa Rosa FL.
      To answer your questions:
      I got our cirrus when I was 17 so insurance was real tough and it required me to do immense training online and with my CSIP. Taught me a lot though.
      I have used those O2 systems but one of my canulas broke for it and I just haven’t ordered new one.
      I’ll be sure to stay on each mag a little longer and see what the readings say

In a crash, your body weight is going it pull you out through the bottom and hang you by your neck (roughly speaking.) The buckle needs to be down at hip level to secure your whole torso.
