I am an American citizen living in Portugal on a temporary d7 visa. I want to move to Italy. Can I apply at the Italian consulate in Portugal or do I have to apply at the Italian consulate in the US in the area that I last lived?

Hello! Thank so much for the right information. I would like to know if been an Spanish citizen I can retire in italy, buy a house in italy, buy a second property to be te rent in italy? Also if my retirement check is gonna be tax, basically if I do have the same rights and beneficies the Italians have cuz Spain belongs to the European community. Thank you

Having visited both countries, I have to say, Portuguese folks are extremely nice, but the country, as a whole, can't hold a candle to Italy.
