I've been looking at shelter designs! How much would one of these things, with footings, cost? I did their calculator but it only covers the yurt and platform insulation
That is a heavy roof cover. I did a 32 foot yurt by myself, needed 2 other people to lift the cover up a scaffold inside and up through the compression ring.
@@vmax-cv1ml if they are making it modern like this then yeah they would need a dehumidifier ; traditional yurts breathe . But it also depends on how much humidity they have in the area in a yearly basis

I want a 40ft diameter yurt but I want to know is there a way that I can build one of these with maybe wood panel on the outside, lattice inside with maybe spray insulation foam and wood panel to cover the lattice. I can't stand looking at all that lattice around me. I'd like a metal roof also with maybe 12ft walls, I'd like a upstairs open loft........
A 40' yurt has enough enough headroom for a fair size loft, about 500 square feet. You can get the kits for solid wall 2x4 yurts in the US, they come with metal roof. No lattice. The lattice is actually a very nice visual component, easy to attach anything and use hooks without making holes in wall. A metal roof on a lattice wall yurt would create a weight problem. Keep it simple, keep your eco footprint small.
That not a yurt. Proof: Come a change of season, are you going to up sticks and move it? Its a magnificent structure but it will attract the attention of the bureaucracy for sure. And those busy bodies will invent a thousand reasons why it doesn't comply with building codes. I mean, are the gutters up to standard? The whole purpose of living in a yurt is to exercise your right as a free man to live in the manner you see fit.
Building codes only apply if the building is within city limits. For this reason alone my dad bought land 1/2 mile outside city limits. The only exception is commercial buildings like 800 ft chicken houses that have to comply with fda and faa codes. But residential codes outside city limits don't exist.

Well with all those changes it's no longer a yurt.
you can always hang nice fabric to hide the lattice
