As a Chilean I can say that the story is very accurate, but there is something I'm mad about and that is that the animation depicted the mapuches as North American natives instead of what mapuches really wore and used. Mapuches didnt really wear feathers nor lived in teepees. Wished the animation was as accurate as the information :(

Likewise with the Spanish. The Castilians who arrived in Chile in those years did not see themselves exactly as the typical conqueror of the Aztecs in full armor but with lighter equipment, hardened leather shields called "Adarga" in the shape of a heart instead of the typical circular buckler of metal, cotton-based cloth vest armor covered in leather (very similar to medieval ones) some of them with chain mail to absorb blows but not stop thrusts, many of them were not even armed with a sword, but a short sword resembling a long dagger, a cavalry lance, even some with metal clubs resembling a one-handed bat, and not to mention the typical morion helmet, practically only a few, most wore hats.
The arquebusiers, archers and crossbowmen practically only wear common clothes.
The only ones well equipped were the governors. The cavalry, and some commanders wore armor but it was not complete, mainly covering the torso and the skull, but iron was absent on the extremities.

As a Chilean I thank you for making this video. The Mapuche are characterized by their tenacity and unbreakable spirit. That characteristic was the greatest virtue that allowed them to resist so many years of war, in addition to their absolute love for their homeland.
That explains Galvarino's behavior (probably his real name was Kallfürüngi or Kalwarëngo). Like him, there were many Mapuches who had extreme fanatical behavior, as recorded in Spanish chronicles. Virtually nothing is known about Galvarino's life. All we know about him is the event that made him famous.
The only bad thing about the video is that the clothing, totem and rooms do not correspond to the Mapuche culture.

Hi! Great video, as always, but being a chilean myself I can't stop being bothered by the depiction of the Mapuche people: their attires, weaponry, decoration and other details are stylized as what I assume are native northamerican indigenous cultyres. I, in no mean, try to say that those cultures are offensive. But I would have appreciated if the Mapuche depiction were to be closer to their culture, since it's uniquely beautiful and in our country they have historically been regarded by the goverment and conservative sides as brutish savages that should be exterminated at all costs. Anyhow, thanks for tapping into the amazing historical figure that is Galvarino!
