It's always been so self-serious, I've always wanted to see a version of the characters that doesn't take itself as serious and making them young adults gives more depth to their future versions. This could also end up having a tragic and serious ending.

whats interesting on whats shown so far is this.
- super young optimus and megatron, if human they would be in their early 20s based on personality and voice tones they going for.
- alpha trion what ppl theorize is he gave a quarter of the spark of leadership to each of them. which raises questions if this is a test on who will be leader. possibly by end the other three forego their piece to orion to become optimus prime with that scene we saw of him truly as prime.
- war is happening on the surface, not sure if decepticons or even autobots factions is established yet.
- we have scene of starscream, soundwave and shockwave, not seeing emblems so not sure whats reasoning of team up and setting up starscream is already leading a group.
- what shocked me is seeing blackarachnea in here and the organic cybertronians.
not sure what else i missed but those i noticed so far.

Just to clarify: The thingy that the main cast characters gain to transforme are actually Transformation Cogs, that are mandatory for a cybertronian to transform
they NEVER needed them BEFORE , in all of the TF series in Japan.
In the TV series transformers prime cybertronians have an organ that's called a tcog and it's what allows them to transform in one episode bumblebee got knocked out and humans cut it out of him and he lost the power to transform

@@markplott4820bro... one, the bayverse made soundwave a satellite. Two, they made grimlock a f*cking dog. Three, some transformers can't transform until they gain the ability to. Heck, some literally just don't at all and just walk. Four, bayverse on screen never explained what a t-cog did or was, they just showed it. Five, bayverse ain't the only TF continuity. Six, CRY ABOUT IT!! Seven, yes, they did need a t-cog to transform. That's literally explained to us multiple times... do your research instead of judging it based on what the bayverse and the Japanese series says.. mind I remind the people here on what the Japanese did to the spiderman show?

Kinda wish they went with the TFP or idw route in terms of the backstory. Felt like it would’ve been a lot more compelling with Optimus being a novice and megatron being a gladiator but still interested in seeing it. Animation wise looks stunning

While I prefer Optimus as a librarian and Megatron a miner turned gladiator, I love that transformers gives us new takes and iterations, I’m interested to see where this story goes.
I love the looks of this. Longtime fans need to remember that, for many of us, we first got into Transformers when we were kids. The only way these franchises survive is by continuing to get the next generations invested in their stories.
Everything needs to be catered to them nowadays. The amount of people who dislike this because of the voices alone is wild to me. These aren’t the characters they know yet, and they don’t have the patience to give it a chance.
Longtime fans got into Transformers when they were kids, too. For me, it was in the 80s, I was under five years old. It was a reprieve from the extreme silliness of most other cartoons, now it just blends in with the crowd. Give kids variety, not just jingling keys.
Right! If you were to rewatch G1 or Beast Wars, yes, there are some darker tones. But the majority of it is dumb fun for kids!
@@synical13 For me, it was Beast Wars which was at times very serious, but still full of comedic moments. I have a feeling this trailer is only highlighting the lighter bits and I’m waiting to see how this story is presented as a whole.

I love them finally exploring how Optimus and Megatron went from brothers/friends to mortal enemies at war. Their origin from the IDW comics has amazing potential for a compelling and nuanced story that we don't usually see in the movies. The fact that this is part 1 of a 3 part trilogy especially has me HYPED. I didn't expect to love Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tee Henry as Optimus and Megatron, but they sound amazing for these roles, especially as their younger selves. They can really show the gripping origin of both how they went down different paths for better or worse (similar to the story of Moses and Ramese or Charles Xavier an Magneto) and how the Cybertronian War began,
The animation looks SO CLEAN!!!
They have given them different origins from the IDW comics, which were stated to be THE origins. They weren't given "superpowers" to be able to transform. Zero respect for the lore and source material

If you didn’t know that Prime and Megatron were brothers in arms before the war, this might not make sense to you. That’s why there’s no hostility between them, yet😅What a GREAT look into Transformers before the war. How the characters are before the division. I’m a Transformers fan since its debut on TV, and I appreciate this take. Can’t wait to see how/why they became enemies.. again😂😂😂

this is the kind of updated transformers movie ive been waiting for. a focus on the Cybertron characters only and not people. to go back to before they were at war with each other is just the icing on the cake for me. i sincerely cant wait for this!!
This is more accurate to how Transformers were supposed to be depicted than any of the Bay movies.

Funniest thing is with both IDW and prime they could have made it with comedy.
IDW couwhave op and megs being all vigilante style leading up to the fall of zeta and the rise of Optimus.
PRIME would have been slightly darker but could have fletched out the relationship between the two ( with Soundwave and co) and both would have made exellent movies (IMO) but thats just me

I grew up with the transformers in the early 80s. Im happy to see it return to a chillaxxed version. I laughed at the trailer and I loved it. Enough dark dark dark all the time.
what do you mean dark dark dark. That´s the whole thing about TF. It was suppose the be dark. Like the DC Movies. It is based on to be serious and dark. That´s why, the other movies are EPIC!

Us grown-ups, the hardcore fans loved this saga, toys and all for 40 years.
When this was announced, we were expecting something close to the Cybertron scenes of Bumblebee (2018) or the War for Cybertron series from Netflix (2020-2021).
But then i thought of something while watching the trailer.
Many kids-oriented original series of Transformers have pushed things along for a younger audience.
So now an animated feature film on that same level exist.
Parents who are fans of Transformers and have kids or kids who like Transformers will wanna see this one.
As much as we were expecting something else, this isn't really a bad thing.

I was about three when the original and more serious cartoon came out and I loved it, can't get a much younger audience than that. For a time, kids weren't always treated like idiots and they readily latched onto entertainment that had some substance if they were offered it. It would be nice to see a return to that, to have them given the offer.
@@synical13 My brother and I grew up on Rescue Bots, as much as I agree that children's media has become more shallow over time its just a fact, also If you really go back and watch things like G-1 its a lot more "kiddy" than you remember and the nostalgia blindness really effects that

The tone kinda makes sense when you consider them late teens / young adults.
This is also before any of the serious war & political stuff that comes later on.
The people who have done test screening of the movie have said that it actually has a serious tone to it with comedic relief throughout it which they heavily used for the trailer. Im certainly excited for it feel like its gonna be the transformers "spiderverse" do i think itll be as good as spiderverse? Im not putting money down on that but i think people are gonna sleep on it and end up being pleasantly surprised by it. With ILM doing the animation I'm sure if anything its going to be a great visual experience
This seems like their trying to take a SERIOUS situation, and insert some REAL people into it. So, yes, your going to have disagreements, light jokes to down play the FEAR, and the Quintasons from the whole spidery squid look.
How do you two think about the Transformers G I Joe crossover movie that is now in the works?
I don’t know why Hollywood is so insistent on using screen actors instead of voice actors in these roles. I mean, I know why, for marquee value, but it’s killing the VA industry. Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, the original Optimus and Megatron, would never have had a chance they were coming up now.
Personally my BEST , transformer , is SOUNDWAVE ,, be great to see Soundwave getting a radio machine with a TAPE / cat and also the Falcon, or eagle bird .

I'm a bit mixed about the animation when I first watched the trailer: it reminds me too much of Transformers Earthspark, which really surprises and also bothers me since I expect so much more from a studio like ILM.
At Cinema Con they showed a clip of the movie and it has a very mature and dark tone to it. (The movie literally has slavery and a class system). They're only showing comedy in the first trailer to bring in kids and a new audience to it. It will still be a very serious movie like the original 86 movie.
In Transformers Prime season one finale or season two shows how flashback Orion pax came to be optimus prime
The tone seems to be more in line with the more recent TF cartoons that are more comedic and target younger viewers. Looks like it will at least be a fun movie to watch with the family.

Since the film isn't coming until September, we'll probably get another trailer(guessing around SDCC) which will probably show other glimpses of the film besides the comedic elements.

A huge Transformers fan and nerd from the start (credentials: D-16 is Megatron's product number from the initial G1 Japanese run). I like the idea of showing a new version of the origin story and it looks good, but it will come down to the story they tell. The movie was written by the Antman and the Wasp writers and a Pixar story artist, so I'm feeling pretty confident it will make sense. Thankfully Alex Kurtzman was too busy making Star Trek Discovery unwatchable.

They took a comedic take on the story of Transformers. It basically dives into the origins story of Optimus Prime but it's strictly kids oriented owing to the fact that they took away the serious tone which Transformers movie has.
I was hoping it would complement previous events
To me I'm happy with how the trailer is because we got to see how optimus and Megatron aaa was before they become enemies and plus we are getting a trilogy for this movie let's see how it goes because we always getting the serious side of optimus and meagatron but we never see that fun side of them i think it's a good way for the exploration of both friends becoming enemies

The pre-movie G-1 series very much has this sort of feel. I'm sure you could cut together the sort of silly, turning serious stuff into a tonally similar video. From what I get is that the movie probably starts off more silly, then gets a bit more serious as the plot progresses. Also, jazzed about the inclusion of Shockwave. I'm looking forward to this movie. Hopefully, it'll really be something I can watch with my niece.

Obviously the story is geared towards a new audience for kids. A lot of existing fans will be disappointed and not happy with being purists. Waiting for an AI to remake the Transformers 1986 movie to update it with previous 3D game assets like the The War for Cybertron or Transformers Devastation console games. Hopefully it will be more battles with all of the bots from Season2.
This is kind of funny to me because it's new gen Bionicle 2 : Legends of Metru Nui.
