I am so here for the series! Erin you nailed this club kid look!! I was a teenager in the 90s and was so obsessed with them. I loved everything over the top, avant-garde, and they were it. Looking forward to what’s coming next ❤
The sort of progression from basic black liner into bright colors, then prosthetics, then glitter and glued on pieces, to graphic liner and experimental shapes is so fascinating. Is it weird to say it reminds me of that 2013-2018 beauty youtube era? Just excitement and experimentation and a progression that you could watch in real time.

I just discovered your channel, but I'm already enthralled! This is so incredibly interesting, and not to mention inspiring, to see the things that paved the way for how makeup as an artform came to be presently. One thing I'm grateful for in recent times is how accessible the freedom of self-expression has become for kids. I hope we continue to move in a direction where young adults and teens can choose to express themselves in whatever ways they want without judgment.
After doing that Victorian video recently, I could not agree more. Maybe in some parts of the world line small towns you might be judged for wild makeup - but with social media the creativity out there - it’s just amazing to see. We certainly are living in a wonderful time for makeup…if there was more sustainable ways though I would be even happier ❤ thanks for you lovely comment!

I’m wanting to know more about the makeup 🫣😅 there are some amazing documentaries about this particular subject, I think it was called disco bloodbath or something like that 😅
There are several documentaries about Alig… Glory Daze and Party Monster the Shockumentary are two you can check out. Myself, I always just wanted to see more of the fashion and makeup, sans the gruesome drug killing and eventual OD.
You’re always the #1 mua i bring up to anyone when I emphasize the true definition of a make up expert & REAL ARTIST. I stalk your videos which constantly inspire me for my looks in the independent film I’m creating. Club kids is another look I’m trying to create and watching this inspired me even more. So many incredible characters and people. Love it! That's how I learned about Ethyl Eichelberger and what an icon she was!!!!!!!!
Such amazing references and I am right there with you! There is so much creativity out there that deserves alot more attention. It’s a shame that crimes of that time outweighed the scene itself. I guess you could say I was a Club Kid. Technically, I was a New Wave/New Romantic/Zolo guy, but all these years later it probably doesn't make much difference.
New Romantics may be one of my all time fav beauty moments. You guys inspired the club kids! That show is definitely in the lineup if I can get the money to make this happen 🥳
@@erinparsonsmakeup Funny thing is, I felt no affinity to Alig and his ilk back in the 90s. The New Romantics were about maximizing and transcending 200 years of the best fashion (the Romantic Period to the early 1960s) with a futurist twist. The Club Kids took a kitchen sink approach that seemed like outrage for the sake of outrage. Granted, most of today's observers would lump us all into one category.

Erin, if you ever see this, just know that you reinvigorated my love for makeup artistry when I literally just got out of the choke hold drug addiction had me in. Now that I'm sober, I'm dusting off my train cases and getting my ass back in the field. I'm so excited to see this as a series. You're absolutely amazing 🖤
I can relate so much, the darkness and trauma of my childhood - it was makeup that got me through it and still does. I know how therapeutic it can be. I’m so happy for you! Stay strong and go put your beauty into the world 🤗!
@@erinparsonsmakeup thank you, Erin! You really just made my day.
🥹 Can relate. It' s been more than two years totally locked and isolated at home. Last week, I finally was able to cross the door and move my bones because I refused to buy online a launch that has an emotional subtext for me. Make up has forced me to make *THE* effort. My best best best wishes, Breezy 🧛🏻♀️🖤
@Sebum Post Mortem omg I'm gonna be at 2 years this month! Congratulations love! Look at us. We're done with that shit and now we get to experience the things that make us feel whole again 🖤
@@sebumpostmortem proud of you!
We NEED this to be longer documentary series ASAP! ❤️ available internationally so everyone can enjoy your knowledge
I love these looks from back in that scene. it's a constant inspiration for me.
I’m starting to see it happen today on social media. The kids are so wildly creative. There are so many though from the past that deserve more recognition ❤ Thankyou so much for your comment 🤗!!
Oh my goodness.. I didn’t want this to end!! Everything is so interesting to learn and so beautiful to look at I just want to dive into the makeup world more! Gods above please make this a show!! 🙏🏼💋✨
Yesss please! 6 minutes is definitely not enough 😅 appreciate your comment 🤗!
What an absolutely fantastic little historical rabbit hole.. I was totally transported from the first moment! Thank you so much for that entertaining and educational experience. 🥰
I’m such a history nerd that I love this obsession with makeup history. I’m middle aged now and I remember all these talk show episodes
Weren't they the best? Geraldo, just crazy lol.
I think these shows subconsciously made me the makeup artist I am today 😮 I loved seeing stuff like this! Even my shoes…😅
@@erinparsonsmakeup the looks you do reminds me a lot of Lady Miss Kier the singer for Dee Lite heavily inspired by 60’s/70’s but with a twist
@@DudeWheresMyCareer immediately I heard Donahue’s voice lol. Geraldo still can’t live down the Al Capone’s vault failure 😂
@@SuperSarahbop hahahahaha true
THANK YOU!!!!.... YESSSSS FINALLY SOMEONE BROUGHT UP THE CLUB KIDS!! ...SUCH AN ICONIC STAPLE IN MAKEUP!!
I spent the whole night binge watching your content and here you comeout with this masterpiece! Beauty history is so captivating, always was my fav part of history.
Thankyou soo so much!! I truly appreciate it 🤗
Erin, you truly are beauty and brains 😩 an amazing makeup artist and phenomenal content creator! Just wow 🤩
I adore so much for such kind words 🤗 Thankyou and beyond!!
We need more to this episode! 6 minutes just isn’t enough! This is the first time we’re seeing and learning about the club kids for the positivity and creativity they had and not about the down fall that was later to come
Utterly awesome concept. Presenting culture, beliefs, political influences all through the lense of makeup and artistic expression. Thank you!
Now if only I had you as a writer 👏
@@erinparsonsmakeup crikey, lovely compliment! Made my day xx
This was my crowd in the 90s, so many familiar faces. Michael Alig really created wonderful club nights. It was a great time to be young and fabulous. 💕
You look familiar and beautiful are you a model?
@@Aqui.. Yes I worked as a model for 16 years. Now I have an talent agency.
Didn't he ummm kill someone? Or am I thinking of someone else?
@@fbiagentfrank Yes, Frank he and his roomate killed a heroin dealer named Angel over a debt or disagreement, I can't recall. Michael himself passed of a fentanyl OD on Christmas Day a couple of years ago now. He was a polarizing kind of guy for sure.
It’s so many periods, moments in time, cultures and trends this show could talk about WOW!!!!! Wow wow!!!! Great Job Erin!!! Somebody better pick up this pilot!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I am so here for the series! Erin you nailed this club kid look!! I was a teenager in the 90s and was so obsessed with them. I loved everything over the top, avant-garde, and they were it. Looking forward to what’s coming next ❤
all these talented people are blooming out!! I LOVE IT😭😭
👏 agree wholeheartedly! They have mind blowing talent!
Yes! Yes! Yes! I would definitely watch this! I’d love to learn more about makeup in different cultures, throughout different time periods. It’s a brilliant idea!
Thankyou so much! I have three seasons worth of episodes ready to go if I can get the green light ✅ 🤗!
Please don’t stop doing long form. I need this
I feel like if anyone is the best person to do this sorta show it’s Erin. She’s so passionate about both makeup and it’s history and her videos always make for a fun and interesting watch
This is absolutely amazing content. I’m actually blown away that it took me so long to find you! I needed you in my life 30 years ago!! ❤❤
This is INCREDIBLE! I love how every piece of makeup insight the interviewees gave made its way into the final look! Such an engaging watch!! ❤❤
Documentary quality videos for free. What more could we ask for. Finally someone in the makeup community that isn’t pushing products in our face.
Wow I wish this was a full hr long doc. I grew up with this generation. Club kids hold a special place in my heart ❤️
You are insanely amazing. I don't even wear make up and I love your channel.
It’s comments like these that truly make me feel it’s more the history people would love. Thankyou! 🤗 I want to explore it all 😃
My ONLY complaint is that your vids are never long enough 😢 stop depriving us, you amazing person
Wait, this is being pitched as a proper series?! YESSS I would watch the hell out of this sort of show 🤩
Quetin Crisp is an icon! So glad he was quoted in the mist of all this marvelous!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
obsessed with his quote
I cant even begin to explain how much i love this!!! This pilot was amazing. What an untouched niche in television right now - i would looooooove to watch this show and learn more about makeup & society in the present and past. This is so awesome and im so glad i found your channel!!!
Thankyou so much! This is truly helpful! I hope it happens 🤞
@@erinparsonsmakeup i hope so too! Best of luck 💖
Finally someone is cover this! I wish someone would do a documentary on the infamous club kid’s murder
Love the authentic raw side of this, not just some instagram “influencer “.
I would 1 billion % vouch for this pitch to any great network and if they don’t they’d be so foolish. I’m based in NYC & would be stoked to meet you & be a sponge to see and hear your makeup magic wonders. ❤
This is so great! I feel out of love with the beauty community but now you added vintage which is my jam… LOVE IT!!!❤❤❤❤
I've always admired Walt Paper. Such an icon. I'm lucky enough to share a birthday with him. Thank you for this gift Erin!
Oh wow thank you so much for showing why this community was created!! I remember being in 7th grade watching Party Monster - changed my life!!
Great production! Excellent story telling and visuals.
Hey Netflix, please consider buying this series. So cool and informative.
I am SO excited for another episode of this series!! WOW.
These were my peeps in the 90’s! And it was gone way too fast!!!! 😢😢😢😢
I can’t wait to see what you do next on this series.
Every video I get more excited, thank you so much, you are awesome ❤❤
thank you so much for this!!!!! we are missing so much history in makeup and you are really giving the hidden icons of the industry their flowers
Thank you Erin! You're adding so much value and help And I've been wanting to hear Kabuki talk since a long time!... 🙏😅😘💋💋💋💋
He is so incredible! And now he takes his art into the fashion world. Loved talking with and learning from him 😻
You truly have something special here...
this type of content and perspective is so refreshing, inspiring, and captivating!!
I have learned so much about history and makeup and how the two align from your videos and I'm eager to see what else you have up your sleeve.
Loving this! Thank you for bringing the history and glam. Netflix needs you!! ❤️
Yessss Thankyou!! Please Netflix 🤞🤞🤞
Wow ! I already adore the whole series
I hope there will be one! Just a test to show the networks that there is a want for a show like this. I have a never ending deck of episodes ready to be filmed 😮😅
i would sell my soul and more for this to be a proper series
oh i would definitely watch every episode of this!
Gosh. I love this. Thank you for being such positive influence in beauty space.
Kinda hope this series can answer my question about why colorful make up is being demonize in many culture...
I've only started, but it's already so captivating!
I appreciate your videos so much! It’s so refreshing and digs what makeup has always been about. As someone who absolutely loves history and makeup, I adore you the absolute most.
This is so fun oml ! When I watch your short form content I often think I want to know more, so a docu series.. so perfect. Especially coming from an experienced artist and curator - this is what the people want 💕💕🌈🌈

I am SO excited that you're starting a series and what a great kick off!! I recorded and rewatched all the appearances of the club kids on Geraldo, Joan rivers, etc. I wore those vhs tapes out pausing and studying the details of their looks! I'm so happy you're doing this, I've exhausted all of the shorts already and just SO looking forward to what is in store! You are awesome!
YESSSS!!!! so glad to see you talk about the club kids!!!
I remember that whole era at the Limelight in NYC. Limelight ...my old stomping grounds back in the 90's. Love this video!❤
🥰 The Tunnel was my playground. I was always afraid to go to Limelight because I felt weird partying inside of a church 😂.
🖤🖤🖤 Love, love, LOVE your content and collection!!!! Stunning, awe-inspiring and informative, as always!
Edit: I love watching Nelson Sullivan videos on YT of the late 80s and early 90s characters, scene and the beginning players of the club kids, including Michael Alig before his criminal ongoings.
I’d love to make this a much longer episode and for sure explore genres and beauty cultures from all of the world 😃
@@erinparsonsmakeup And if/ when you do, I'll be right here to watch, learn and love. Anything to honor and preserve the magic and creativity of those icons who have come and gone through the ages, as you do with such grace and love. 🖤🖤🖤 Thank you for everything you do!
I have adored your tutorials on ancient makeup for months now, and I am so thrilled to see you continue to develop new content based on makeup thru the ages!! All the best to you! I hope that this brings new eyes to how makeup can continue to inspire and how we keep building and referencing and developing on trends from the past. All the best for your museum!
Wow that was so cool! I love you Erin!
Love you right back!! Thankyou 🤗!
So good too see this, makes my inner child smile seeing the love & beauty that poured into the makeup world 💚
I guess you could say I was a Club Kid. Technically, I was a New Wave/New Romantic/Zolo guy, but all these years later it probably doesn't make much difference.
I bet you've got some amazing stories! Would love to see pictures of your nights out!
New Romantics may be one of my all time fav beauty moments. You guys inspired the club kids! That show is definitely in the lineup if I can get the money to make this happen 🥳
@@victoriafinnin1215 There's a video on my page where I react to my old photos.
@@zaraspark7467 Thank you!! I'll have a look.
Wow I’m floored fresh content from extremely talented & gorgeous people! Im loving your videos Erin! You have your pulse on something that nobody else does🎉❤
This is style.
I LOVE THIS! Your tiktoks and videos have been like a time machine for me these days! You are an inspiration to do what you love and love what you do! I would definitely watch this and I wish nothing but the best to this fantastic project!
First, love your channel❤❤
We want and need this show to show us the depth of beauty and how it is more than what we already know. Please please please continue with this and sending wave of chance and luck for this show to get picked up immediately so everyone can understand and learn more.
Im an anthropologist, and THIS is an incredible look at the relationship beween humans and self-expression
I am 65 and I started working at the age of 11 in my neighborhood pharmacy as just a presence at the cosmetics counter to discourage shoplifting. We sold Yardley makeup, Helena Rubenstein, Coty, Revlon, Love, Coty and Max Factor and my love affair began. I get up in the morning, make my bed, grab my coffee and put my face on!
Have loved your videos and hope this becomes a new series.
Im hooked! I love the club kids so much, and to see great interviews, and an omage to the importance of their impact on society is amazing! I cant wait for more!
Make up documentaries are an untapped market Erin. From what I've seen of your genuine historic interest and your vintage collections this is very much up your alley! I can't wait to watch this content!!
A great video! I thought the video would be about Blitz Kids (late 70's, early 80's) but I also remember Club Kids. I hope you will make a documentary about Blitz Kids. They had beautiful makeup and style and Steve Strange was gorgeous.
I wanted to see more of this… please do more; I’m a Club Kind in heart! I wish this comes back someday
I was really impressed by your video! The best beauty channel.❣️
Takes me back to my 20’s in London during the 90’s. Nights at Heaven, TRADE, FF & DTPM. Wonderful times with so many characters and personalities. I miss those days of Hedonism. Working to live from Thursday night to Sunday morning. Thanks for this. You’ve made 52 year old me very nostalgic and happy! 💋
You could make each episodes HOURS long and Id watch them religiously, this is incredible!!!
Omg Erin this is the show we need! As much as I live for watching makeup techniques and application I find it vital we learn the history behind makeup. You are the perfect person for this job. I really hope this preview can grow into a full grown show. 🤞🏻
Thank you for making this. It made me emotional, inspired, moved, grateful. Knowing history is so important, I feel like I relate to these people more than anyone in my life today. We need a revolution...
I have to say, when the pandemic really hit, I thought for sure that make up sales (and interest in it) would change dramatically for the worse. Yet what I see is that it is a vital and looming entity and that’s why we need your series! With you hosting and modeling…
*Oops not looming; I meant soaring…duh.
