Looking back now you forget how much grit and determination the 98/99 squad showed that season, They were minutes away from getting knocked out of the FA Cup against Liverpool, and arsenal, the premier League was won by one point and who can forget the Champions League Final. Such small margins between it being a season where United made history and to a season where they could have come away with nothing.
Lets not forget we beat Inter and Juventus along the way staying unbeaten the entire campaign . Played only PL teams in the FA Cup and people talk about Barcelona 2009 as the greatest side when they lost twice and drew most games and won semi on away goals and help from the referee.
And had difficulty against Chelsea in the 5th round of cup. Went to replay

yeah but, that was long before SAF retired and Moyes, LVG and Moaninho came to the PL. Moyes wasn't even at Everton then, I think LVG was in the Bundesliga and the bus driver was still in La Liga - 'playing' with his best friend PG.

Idk how neutrals feel, but watching United that season was an experience I dont think will ever be beaten. So many last minute winners, comebacks, amazing goals, and beautiful football. Almost every player got their chance to be a hero.

This was on my 22nd birthday. Thought I was in danger of having a heart attack when Ole got that winner. The camera shot of the distraught Scouser in the stand at the end, still gives me a seedy thrill, to this day...😂
Every title in that treble was won by fine margins. Legends!

It's amazing when you look back at that squad they had quality in every part of the pitch and on the bench. Teddy sheringham and nicky butt 2 grossly underrated players highly skilled. But when they talk about man u legends they talk about cantona and Ronaldo never yorke. But he was the top scorer and brought the treble. They won the European cup for the first time in 30 years. And he only played for 2 seasons. They couldn't win it until John Terry slipped. Yorke also captained his country to their first under 19 and senior world cup and was statistically the best at winning the ball in the first round.
This was Ferguson's best United team. They were just relentless in winning everything that season
with never-say-die attitude.

Imagine having to win the Champions League by being drawn against Barcelona (who had Rivaldo; Luis Enrique et al), Bayern twice (Khan; Effenberg; Matthaus) Inter (Ronaldo; Baggio; Zanetti et al) and Juventus (managed by Ancelotti, featuring Zidane, Nedved; Inzaghi). By my count they were behind six times in that campaign, but finished it unbeaten.
Their main domestic rival Arsenal had Anelka, Bergkamp, Ljungberg, Overmars, Petit, Vieira. Just behind them were Chelsea (Desailly, Zola) and Liverpool. United knocked them all out of the FA Cup, one with ten men, one having been behind when the clock ticked to 90.
Ridiculous.
A thrilling and hugely important win en route to the treble,all the more enjoyable because it was against Liverpool.
