    I couldn’t agree more with Mama; that was my lived-through experience with Miss Jackson’s music too.
    Now I get to introduce my Grandkids to her and the rest of her family; all the way back to the ABC, easy as 123 days.
    I enjoyed your reaction and thanks for the nostalgia: Janet is the full package of entertainment. She could do no wrong in my eyes, still. We all grew up wanting to be her, most talented with a humble heart.

    Janet's Rhythm Nation Album was inducted into The National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress because of its socially conscious content. Janet's videos were must-see TV as well as Michael's. I totally enjoyed watching this review with mother and son, thank you !

    7:30 they actually interswapped dancers ALOT and not only because they were siblings because they just so happened to be musical peers. They shared dancers with each other as well as Paula Abdul. Whitney, Madonna
    Travis Payne who had his first gig on the Rhythm Nation 1814 Music Video and Tour(1990) went on to be on Michael's Dangerous World Tour(1992) and HIStory World Tour(1996)
    Shawnette Heard who has her first tour gig on the janet. world tour(1993) went on to be on the HIStory World Tour for the 1996 leg and quit to join Janet on her Velvet Rope Tour(1998)

    Hi there - love your Janet reaction videos. I won several of the items from the Janet auction, and I wanted to touch on that. Janet’s RN uniform was sold as a jacket/hat/glove combo. The key earring was separate (I had the high bid on it for two weeks leading into the auction, but within moments of that lot going live, my bid got blown out of the water), as was the belt (I own that piece, as well as the one in your reaction video to Pleasure Principle). There were no pants included in the uniform. I did win the RN1814 caps worn by the band that played on the tour, and that is really cool! I love seeing your mother’s energy, because she is describing what it was like during the Control and RN1814 eras to see Janet emerge from MJ’s enormous shadow. People today forget the cultural influence Janet wielded back then. We were watching her construct a whole new lane from scratch, and it was riveting.

    They both had the concept to do the army based concept at the same time because Michael said they thought so alike. It’s just that at the time, Michael was in post production for Captain Eo under the Epic Label and Janet was in pre production for Rhythm Nation under the A&M Label. Because Janet didn’t want to do ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE to her family and be completely original as an artist. She asked Michael if he could discard his use of the military concept as Rhythm Nation was much more socially conscious in nature.

    Janet is my favorite artist of All Time. Now I need you to react to The Pleasure Principle by Janet and see the complete opposite of this video where Janet is dancing by herself because my girl can do it all. The Pleasure Principle is hands down the best Female Dance Video of All Time. Janet tore it all the way up in that video. In that video alone you will see where Beyonce, Ciara, Jennifer Lopez. Tinashe, Normani, Mya, and Britney Spears get their inspiration from. Like your mom said Janet is Muva of all these girls. Check it out.

    me and mom are about the same age and if this song sounds a bit familiar it's because it's actually an old Sly and the family Stone song called "Thank You Falletinme Me Be Myself".

  • @jerryjaguar3239
    @jerryjaguar3239 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Also even though Janet didn't discretly "reference or copy" from Michael because of her inner driving force of wanting to be so distant from her family image. Michael has went on record to say that sonically the sound of Rhythm Nation influenced the New Jack Swing genre that influenced his future albums, Dangerous(1991), History(1995) and Invincible(2001.) He also sampled her songs, You Want This And Miss You Much in his song Dangerous and The Knowledge in Scream. He adored his sister's musicality and has expressed his understanding of wanting to be so distant as an artist from her family. He also loved her "youthful ear" for the trends in pop music.
    Also Janet's video Love will never do without you was shot by Herb Ritts and was innovative for her simple sex appeal in the desert settling with male models.
    Michael later recruited Herb Ritts for his song In The Closet with a similar desert setting and Naomi Campbell as his love interest.

    Also to differentiate between Michael and Janet is really the type of dancers they are. Even though they are both untrained and natural performers, Michael is more of a freestyler and Janet is more of a choreographed artist with almost every dance style expertise under the belt. Michael's magic layed in his improvisation skills and quick timing response whereas Janet's magic layed in the fact that she outdances TRAINED DANCERS in choreography. While Michael longed to ballet, Janet has done ballet, jazz, street, contemporary, tap. TRUE AUTHENTIC hip hop, and unlike Michael she does ALOT of floor choreography. Even Janet said that she wanted to try aerobics in 2022 when she spoke to an athlete in an interview
    Janet and Michael were given the same 24 hours as everyone is just that Janet's forte was in learning different styles and Michael's forte was learning how to move on command. BOTH EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE dancers

    • @coreydorsey4121
      @coreydorsey4121 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mike actually didn't improvise as much as people think. Yes he made it look easy and natural, but he practiced every detail of his performances maniacally. It's very easy to recognized that because you won't see much difference if you watch multiple videos of him performing the same song. The same way most top athletes who make it look easy and natural actually spends hours upon hours perfecting their skills.

      @@coreydorsey4121I agree with that especially with Billie Jean performances on the history tour, dangerous tour and the bad tour. It became choreography over time. I would say that although both of their shows are well rehearsed. His choreography allowed for more improvisation moments such as his Dangerous performs on the former two tours. As well as in the closet and scream on the history tour

It gets cut off in the official video on her Channel. It is so iconic that it has inspired a whole generation of artist!
