I saw Janet in concert a couple of weeks ago and before she performed Rhythm Nation, she said that the song's message is as relevant today as it was 35 years ago. Definitely a message for the ages.

The Rhythm Nation 30 minute mini movie premiered on CBS in prime time…featuring this song, Miss You Much, and The Knowledge.

I remember when she released a short film with four videos from this album, and I just couldn’t get over it for a long time!! 😂 the sound of this album is so good. Please react to Love will never do without you. It’s a great song and Janet looks and sounds amazing. It was the last single from Rhythm Nation album.

Actually 3 videos not 4. I don’t know why I keep thinking that “come back to me” was included on this mini film. 🤦🏼

JANET JACKSON'S Rhythm Nation Album was inducted into The National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress because of its socially conscious content. She wrote the lyrics and wanted the video to be black and white so that everyone in the video were the same hue.

It's perfection. I loved it when it came out & it never gets old. I probably watch every single reaction to it. 🤣

Hey Ace, Rhythm Nation and Miss You Much videos are actually taken from Janet’s mini movie Rhythm Nation The Film which was an accompaniment to the album. Whilst the songs are awesome on their own the full context of them is better show in the film. The film is here on TH-cam too. I hope you get a chance to see it ❤

The song is interesting because it's objectively pretty poppy, but feels noisy, funky, and industrial feel. The "we are a part of the rhythm nation" refrain is heavily influenced by P-Funk, creating a striking contrast against the ultra-modern (for the time, though sounding quite dated now) backdrop. Janet was at her peak during this era; this song and the album it's from are evidence of that.
