    A lot of people think they are buying oem air springs , the oem air springs on ebay and amazon are most likely fake unless your buying from licensed dealer. Cheapest i could find was about 600 for a pair from dealers that have real ones. A lot of fakes , the Chinese know how to print a box and upgraded looking one . If you contact those companies that are selling the one s for 175 and ask them if they are a licensed dealer what you will get is no response . Going the Arnott route because a real toyota one cost 300

    Absolutely full of great info BUT...beware of moving that little reservoir...also known as a filter . The bolts there are doable with patience. Yo can let it hang in there BUT you may break a nipple where the hose connects. 40 dollar toyota part. Be ready when you go to the hidden bolts through the rubber buffers. Of course you are gonna probably find one or two of those upper mount bolts the ones with the large washers, They will have some corrosion. Go slow screw in and out to hopefully not have one snap off...you guessed it... Even pb blaster the night before one of the three mount bolt breaks in the bracket...he is right...wiggle the hanging pump assembly and it will drop down giving access to the easy to remove air hose. The electrical connector that comes off of the pump will not want to come apart easily. I found that it was EASIER to drop the rear spare tire . Pull it out of your way ...sitting inside the area where the tire was you find the the 12mm bolt that is holding the entire metal bracket in . You should have already taken the other two out. Why am I messing with the entire bracket??? well remember i broke one of the pump rubber buffer bolts...Now its easy too unplug the motor assembly harness, pull the airline off and pump is dangling from the power supply wire. Lots of fun. I like your positivity and great instructions. Now to go drill and retap the holes where the bolts broke... I tested the old pump with jump box....its a dead soldier. Tapping on it with a hammer like on a starter motor did not revive it. There's a lot of stuff crammed in that space. You will be glad you took the spare tire out. Most likely you are going to destroy 5 plastic clips that hold plastic shield near the mud flap. Toyota dealer 85 cent parts. I ordered the filter that the nipple broke off of but can use JB weld to glue nipple on that filter....BUT....after doing the ride height sensors , the pump and two new kyb Toyota rear shocks....I can't see being cheap.. I loved the way this thing rides with the air suspension and the rear going up and down makes hooking a trailer to the hitch easy..
    I know I rambled here but the shocks are EASY ..The ride height sensors are EASY.... I would say the pump is NOT EASY...but its doable and after owning this beast for 15 years....I want to see it hit 400K like a couple others we have worked on.
    I really appreciate the time you took making this video... The Yodas are way easier to keep going than the Ultimate driving machines we make a living off of. Keep up the good work.

      In the long run, removing that top bolt really cut the time. We took out the whole pump and bracket and put it back in with the "filter"or reservoir attached.
      There is room to put it back in as a complete assembly. Test the new pump before putting it back in. Some times NEW means never ever worked. remember the long hose that goes way up near taillight that is the air input to the new pump. It fits into a rummer grommet. Had fun, NOT, but could do it again in about 2-3 hours.. Plastic clips live to break that hold covers and mudflap in place. East to plug in air hose and electrical when spare tire is out of the way.

    Nice vid. Continental makes good rubber, would've gone this route myself if I hadn't just bought OEM. So much junk Chinese rubber out there to sift through. Also, Aisin is a main OEM manufacturer for Toyota so it's likely they made the compressor that came with the GX stock. $860 on Rockauto pre discount though, damn. Still cheaper than the dealer

      Thank you, exactly. I know what I have under there, I'm really happy with the result, the ride is great, and no matter what I throw at the GX the ride height is always perfect, no squatting.

    Great info, thank you for the video! I recently purchased my GX470, air springs work fine in the H position, not bouncy ride, however, the ride is very bouncy in the N position, could it be the shocks? because the air springs will inflate, stay inflate and not sag. Or could it be the ride height sensor? Any help is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

    • @GX470PracticalMaintenance
      @GX470PracticalMaintenance  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hard to know over YT of course, but if the bags inflate and stay there without the compressor staying on then they are working, as are the ride hight sensors. You can always pull the compressor fuse and see how it behaves after the GX is fired up and inflated.
      So it sounds like something else. Yes, your shocks could be worn out, they are what keeps you from bouncing up and down as you drive.
      In the driveway push down hard on a corner (without hurting the GX), it should just return to normal without almost any bounce. If it bounces some then it’s likely shocks.

      @@GX470PracticalMaintenanceAppreciate your input. I purposely set the Gx470 to H position last night, check the car this morning, the air bag springs are good, no leaks, drove around the neighbourhood, no rough rides. Drove a little faster and the suspension auto set to N position, still rides fine. I didn't set it to Low today to see if it'll ride rough yet. I think it will.

      I assume you are referring to the air bags, the rest of the suspension replacement parts are actually OEM. The ride quality of the airbags is great! I am very happy with them. Still going strong.

    did the air lines plug and play back to the arnott bags without any problems?

    • @GX470PracticalMaintenance
      @GX470PracticalMaintenance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the airlines just push right in and lock, plug and play as you put it. I have been very happy with them overall. The connection swivels so there is no left or right, and the air line just pushes right in and locks. I don't think I would buy anything else after using and installing.

      @GX470PracticalMaintenance . I bought 2005 and Electronic Shocks don't work. It's not a smooth ride at all. No different between Sport and Comfort. It seems like someone replaced rear shocks recently. Do you have any idea what might be an issue?
