    This was the first video that came up when I typed in harbor freight tailgator carb, and you literally saved my life. Hurricane Ian devastated us here, and its been four days without power. Got 15 gallons of gas and the carb was clogged. Your video made all the difference man! Thank you

      @@smallengineguys No I have a breathing machine that helps me breathe, it was getting bad after no treatments for four days. Wasn't kidding about saving my life! I owe you a beer or two! Thanks

    Hi, so i have the tailgator version of this generator, i tested the leads coming from the capacitor and i'm only getting 0.11 to 0.20 ac volts, and i have resistance from the 110 lead. so.. everything beyond that is checking out.. i took the rotor out and checked everything over.. it had a couple nicks in it but all in all it looked really good. i put it back together and still the same issue. i replaced the cap and nothing there aswell. Any ideas?

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      god not in this one no. sometimes these chinese generators have a capacitor in the electrical box that holds the outlets. best i can do ya for this is to cheap for me to do any major try on

    thanks for the info is there any need to have the air screw x amount of turns to make it run right? Or is it just a case of pull it apart and clean it and put it back together, I got one of these from a sidewalk neighbour and it runs but dies on load so the fuel needs replacing and will pull apart and clean the carb thanks again

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no just pull apart and clean. sounds lean.

      @@smallengineguys gave the carbie a quick clean and now it runs better and will take a load so on the right track, now for some cleaner fuel, yes i know i should have started there but containers are an issue in my house.

    I’m having a problem with the pull string recoiling back in very hard and making it very difficult to start. Hurts my hand even. Do you have any idea why? Someone told me the valve isn’t opening. Not sure where.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      these are 2 stroke no valves. probably to much fuel in the cylinder. carburetor probably needs cleaning then pull spark plug and dry cylinder by blowing air in it or pulling over many times. you may be able to dry plug with carb cleaner or you may need new plug. you are mixing oil in gas right?

    • @adonakis
      @adonakis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smallengineguys yes. I am. Problem started when I added a pre mix fuel for the first time. When you pull cord, it pulls back in really hard and hurts. Ha. Won’t engage.
