Thanks for sharing this. TH-cam should have a "Feel your pain" icon along with the "thumbs up&down" . It is so hard to find good workmanship these days.Excellent job Phil ! Very useful.
Thanks for continuing to upload these vids, very detailed and informative. I find them particularly useful as I've just bought myself a 1980 ex mil series 3 LWB. It's in a very poor state of repair but it's solid and it runs. It's in Uckfield and judging by your road test vids not a million miles from you. Hope to see you out and about one day! Cheers.
Great job as usual Phil - just watched it so far. Yes it seems it's extremely difficult today to find some who can do the job properly. But at least when it's done, it will have been done properly, and last you years.
And me. Ok with the tractor I have to live with what I've got, as I want to use it and don't have the funds or facilities. But I seem to have spent most of my life redoing others work..(seem to have to redo some of mine now I'm old) At the garage they had a Mk2 Escort RS with a 5 speed gearbox. Went to a specialist, came back wrongly built and had to be sent back.....very difficult to remove being non standard.
Lapping these up. Picking up a 61 series2 next week My third Landy after an 18 year gap! And the first LWB Looking forward to fettling the steering and brakes( which it certainly needs) and tidying up generally. OH AND DOING A BIT OF SOUNDPROOFING. YOU WHAT? SOUNDPROOFING!!!!
Great! Looking for a 2a at the moment myself, though an 88. Sound proofing does make such a difference. Mine is quite a comfortable old bus now, not only does the heavy matting reduce noise it also damps out vibration. Have fun!
A small firm with a supposedly good reputation. I will write to them and just make a point... seems to be difficult to find good workmanship now, all rather sad really.
sad workmanship....and i have seen them online for £300 ish, so not cheap . just sadly dumped one as not able to take it with me !! but i have the rubber one piece gaiters to fit ex army style i think , so when i strip mine down ill use them .. cheers great insight as always .. x
You have the voice of a 60 year old east londoner. Great videos mate, potentially buying my first landy soon. Cant wait to start working on it
Joe Gardiner as soon as you get it she'll let you know what needs working on and in what order. Chin up it never stops!

Thanks Malc, the lack of care and attention these days really does do my swede in!

steamwally as well as I hope! Your lwb seems well sorted. I'm in Lewes so not far away
highdownmartin Yes, keeping the 109. Keep an eye out for the green machine on the road, I work near Lewes.
nice job.
I don"t know if you considered fitting the swivel housing rubber gaiters, they are ridiculously expensive mind. Great vid.
Thanks, I had considered the leather gaiters but decided I can cope with replacing the swivels again in another three decades!
Who rebuilt the diff? Is it a high volume kind of shop? I agree - I wouldn't have liked that split pin, either.

I think you might have mentioned it some where, but why did the diff need replacing...?..
pinion bearings are worn
