This song was written in the perspective of Mathew Mitchell, Stan’s brother. It’s basically about him getting revenge on Eminem & killing him because he blames him for Stan’s death. Hence all the parellels to Stan
The song is a sequel to Stan where Stan’s brother Matthew takes revenge on Eminem for his brothers suicide by kidnapping him and driving them both off of a bridge. The ending part is Eminem’s introspection of himself and career.
Yeah. Even though he doesn’t get it. It still all depends on perspective. Thats why eminem is such a amazing artist. His songs can be viewed from so many perspectives and it still hits hard. And plus you can listen to the songs so many times and still will be picking up shit you never heard or noticed before
Fisher1226 you right but the original context/meaning of the song is so much more interesting than some “relationship” Eminem was in. I just want him to know that. But yeah you right
About time. That legendary final verse. This is from Stan’s little brother, Matthew’s perspective for most of the song, and it is about him getting “revenge” on Marshall/Eminem, btw. The last verse is Eminem’s conscience talking to Eminem, I believe. It can be a little confusing, it’s pretty deep.
The end is slim shady talking to Marshall to tell him quit whilst hes on top or end up being the joke of rap. Listen to the song MY DARLING BY EMINEM it'll make sense then
Oscar Wood showing how much of a stan he was and also building up the feeling of revenge by listening to his whole discography before to channel his feelings
Riley Naehu it can be viewed that way but the whole song except the very last first is stans little brothers perspective but Em made it in a way where it sounds like it’s about a relationship
I really don't blame him, the references to this being Stan's little brother are kinda subtle. Plus it's only briefly mentioned in "Stan" that he has a little brother named Matthew. I can see why someone might not catch it on first listen.

13b Rx8 it is especially when you listen to the first two verses and it seems like a toxic relationship, if you go into it knowing it’s a sequel to Stan then it’s easier, also if you are a big fan of Eminem then you might get it on the first few listens
Aaron Figueroa it’s pretty obvious it’s part 2 because the third verse mimics the concept and flow of the driving off the bridge verse in Stan also he even says the name Stan in the third verse if you pay attention to lyrics it’s pretty easy to catch on the first listen
Swimming In circles that’s true, but Layedbak doesn’t seem like a big em fan, and he was already hooked on the idea of it being a song about a relationship, plus we don’t know how long it’s been since he’s listened to Stan, I just don’t think we should make it seem like it’s super easy to get it on first listwn
I've dealt with so many roadblocks in my life. This song resonates with me so deep that I was able to crush all the guilts that I had and inspired me to live a better life.
The song is the part 2 to Stan. You can hear it in the lyrics when he says "I was going to bury you right next to my brother meaning the character is Mathew from Stan. Another lyric is "Big bro this is for you", "Feels like I've been waiting for this my whole life".
Anyone else wish they could stop the video as he was recording it to let him know that it's the sequel to Stan so he can hear it in an ENTIRELY different way? The story is told by Stans brother Matthew which is why he said "here's your broncos hat back cuz they suck!" In relation to Stan when Em said "here's an autograph for your brother, I wrote it on a starter cap" Definitely one of my favorite Eminem song / storytellings of all time. especially when you understand that it's part two of Stan, everything hits differently and when the beat switches after Matthew kills Eminem, that verse is probably one of the hardest hitting lines Eminem has ever wrote and truer than a mothaf... Definitely one of his most underrated pieces of art
Been driving for "9 freaking hours and 45 minutes" this was Eminem's discography length of all his songs added together. Symbolises that Matthew was such a huge fan too that he had listened to every one of his songs when going to him. It's also mentioned on Stan, where Stan complains about waiting in the cold to see him with his brother (Matthew) "who likes you more than I do"
everyone has their opinion of what makes someone the GOAT, but Eminem is indisputably the greatest wordsmith of all time. His ability to rhyme and bend lyrics to a beat is unmatched and borderline unbelievable. His storytelling is still great, and he's up there with the greatest rappers who focused on that, but his lyricism really is unmatched. Eminem in my eyes is the GOAT because no one has ever came up to his technical skill level. Guys like Nas, Royce, Black Thought are amazing, but Em just has that bit of magic that makes you wonder how he even thinks of the rhymes and schemes. If people like storytelling/pure melodic style hip-hop, then it's fine if Eminem is not their GOAT. But even if that's the case you should still have Em in your top 5.
@@darrel6724 That's fair, I never argue those kind of opinions. It's a subjective topic. I personally put 2Pac in my 3-5 range but that's just my opinion.
I always read the comments before I watch the video, I didn't watch this after seeing it was interpreted as a relationship and not the sequel to Stan. That takes away 99% of how dope it is.
I’ll be honest, I’m a little disappointed with this reaction. I was so excited when he said he never heard it and he was under the same impression I was at the start, that this was about a relationship. But when the twist kicked in that it was Em getting kidnapped and Stan’s brother Matthew was the POV, he still didn’t pick up on it. Come on, bruh
Priyashu Singh it kinda is tho if you REALLY listen, he says “by one of your fans”, “matthew mitchell i even have your initials” , and “big bro this is for you”. no disrespect to layedbak tho, he’s bound to miss stuff by trying to make a video for us making sure everything is perfect etc etc. I can honestly see how he missed it
@@jussalex4580 it's not that easy lol. There are actually people out there that aren't big fans of Eminem believe it or not. It's also hard to interpret some songs correctly on the first listen, especially Eminem songs.
There were five samples in the song: ‘Bad Guy’ by Eminem ------------------- 1. ‘Hocus Pocus’ by Walter Murphy (1974) (Which is the drum loop used throughout the first whole half of the song up until the “I also represent anyone on the deceiving end of those jokes you offend” part) ------------------ 2. ‘Long Red (Live)’ - Mountain (1972) (Which are the distorted yelling vocals used throughout the first half of the song. Also he wasn’t literally talking about a female he was really talking about himself from the point of a view of a Stan I believe. (Correction: from the POV of Stan’s little brother)
It’s IMPOSSIBLE to understand this song on the very first listen, even for the biggest fan in the world, but once you do...HOLY BALLS HOSS! It’s completely genius! The most thought out song of all time, by anyone
The song plays with you making you think it's from Em's perspective at the beginning, but at the climax it reveals it was from the perspective of Stan's younger brother all along. He kidnaps and kills Em as revenge for Stan's suicide. This song can go over your head if you're not a big Eminem fan and can't remember the details of Stan's story, or that his last name was Mitchel. That is shown only on the video. Anyway, he repeats this kind of bait-and-switch in "Darkness" from his latest album.
It’s crazy how he can write a sequel to Stan and people personally connect with it. Same with 25 to life, on that he was talking about fame but you can draw from your own life from the lyrics
The first part of the song is very much a double. It makes you think he's talking about a female and then reveals its Matthew Mitchell, Stans little brother. The second part is like Eminem's life flashing before his eyes during a slow descent into death while his conscience talks to him.
I like this one for the same reason as darkness, he “disguises” the song as something else and once you realize what it’s actually about you can’t hear it the same.
Finally bro that last verse is insane definitely up there with one of his best verses. It’s a sequel to Stan and the last part is him having a conversation with himself about the things he’s done and said throughout the years. It’s an amazing song and one of my favorites
You know he legit didn't hear this before when he completely misinterprets what the song was about haha. It's about Stans younger brother coming back for revenge!
its funny that he didn't even realize this is a Stan sequel LMAO 😂😂 Bad Guy "guess 90 on the free way wasnt the brightest idea," Stan "im doing 90 on the free way"
This is a sequel to Stan. Stan's younger brother is killing Eminem. The final verse is Eminem explaining the metaphor of Stan/Bad Guy and how it relates to him and his life.
Basically listen to Stan then listen to this and you’ll get the whole story Also, Eminem is the one who got killed and the POV is Matthew Mitchell, Stan’s brother
This song is the sequel to Stan! It’s 13 years later. The first 3 verses are from the perspective on Mathew Mitchell as an adult now, Stan’s younger brother who Eminem gave the Broncos hat too in Stan. Remember Stan says his younger brother was an even bigger fan than he was. Once you understand it’s Mathew talking 13 years later as an adult talking coming after Eminem for revenge and realize Mathew Mitchell’s initials are ‘M&M’ it’s a double entendre for Eminem talking in the 4th verse with some heavy symbolism to to his past coming to get him
The song is from the perspective of Stans younger brother! Remember the bronco hat? Matthew Mitchel (stan mitchel’s brother) is getting revenge for what em did to stan
The first part was about Stan's brother Matthew coming to get his revenge on Em now that he's older. The second half was about all of his past demons coming to haunt him
Need R.A. the Rugged Man, his new album All My Heroes Are Dead just dropped, absolute fire. Could start with Gotta Be Dope or Angelic Boy but tbh every song is crazy. Wu Tang, Immortal Technique, Chuck D and more on the features

His reactions to the lyric would be gold lol
Spider Jerusalem The animated video does that song a great justice
Great shout
Yeah that would be funny
I hope eventually he finds out that this song isn't about a relationship and is about stan and his brother
LayedBak- “I’ve never heard this before” My reaction 😳😳😳😳
Thank you so much for doing this song
This is a song about Stan's little brother
I was at the gym when I heard this song. Hoodie gang!🔥
You should know this is the 2nd part of the song stan. Eminem is rapping from stan's brother's point of view
Chloraseptic remix, lessgo fire squad. Laydbak gonna lose his mind... honestly can't believe he hasn't reacted to it yet!
The last verse is the best when he is fighting with shady in Eminem’s head
Lovee, need more eminem old songs reactions, love your work from spain ❤️
I like this one for the same reason as darkness, he “disguises” the song as something else and once you realize what it’s actually about you can’t hear it the same.
Darkness is awesome... love that song
It's about Stans younger brother coming back for revenge!
its funny that he didn't even realize this is a Stan sequel LMAO 😂😂 Bad Guy "guess 90 on the free way wasnt the brightest idea," Stan "im doing 90 on the free way"
after 7 years you’re telling me you’ve never heard this song before?
bro this is Eminem's best song ever
This is a sequel to Stan. Stan's younger brother is killing Eminem.
The final verse is Eminem explaining the metaphor of Stan/Bad Guy and how it relates to him and his life.
I think we need a long reaction video with the song stan and bad guy one after the other!
You have to react to this again but with the knowledge that the verses except for the last is from Stans little brothers
Think that might have been the plan all along, double the views.
He needs to react again knowing what it’s about.
I love your reactions Hopsin, you crack me up!
Basically listen to Stan then listen to this and you’ll get the whole story
Also, Eminem is the one who got killed and the POV is Matthew Mitchell, Stan’s brother
Man you should react to this again, knowing that its about Stan's little brother Matthew, you know Stan the song .
It’s funny how TH-cam reactors resort to Eminem reactions once they’re close to another mile stone
I get chills when the beat come in at the end and its just pure deep shit.
That isn't about a relationship it's about stan's little brother taking revenge on eminem
THIS SONG IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE UGH THANK YOU❤️❤️😅
check out Eminem "Business" or "Crack a bottle"
buisness is a banger
So crack a bottle
Just getting better bro everyday we all are 💯 ❤️
I'm so mad he didn't catch on by the third verse lol
This song is the sequel to Stan! It’s 13 years later. The first 3 verses are from the perspective on Mathew Mitchell as an adult now, Stan’s younger brother who Eminem gave the Broncos hat too in Stan. Remember Stan says his younger brother was an even bigger fan than he was. Once you understand it’s Mathew talking 13 years later as an adult talking coming after Eminem for revenge and realize Mathew Mitchell’s initials are ‘M&M’ it’s a double entendre for Eminem talking in the 4th verse with some heavy symbolism to to his past coming to get him
"After they call you, the biggest laughingstock of rap who can't call it quits"
2 albums after Revival...
Chronic-187 lul
How are there still people out there that ain’t heard this? It’s 7 years old at this point! Such a good storytelling track
He was talking about himself from matthew Mitchell's perspective in 3 verses 4th verse is eminem
Clicked play just to see the reaction when the 4th verse kicks in. That shit gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
A better bad guy than the trash Eilish put out for sure.
facks ;)
LP2728 _ Eminem is the goat. No doubt. But why hate on an 18 year old. And that song is fire as fuck
@@brennanthomas6643 nah I dislike the music, it's not personal. I dislike much of modern music, regardless of the artist making it.
The song is from the perspective of Stans younger brother! Remember the bronco hat? Matthew Mitchel (stan mitchel’s brother) is getting revenge for what em did to stan
React to "So Bad" by Eminem
The first part was about Stan's brother Matthew coming to get his revenge on Em now that he's older. The second half was about all of his past demons coming to haunt him
Need R.A. the Rugged Man, his new album All My Heroes Are Dead just dropped, absolute fire. Could start with Gotta Be Dope or Angelic Boy but tbh every song is crazy. Wu Tang, Immortal Technique, Chuck D and more on the features
