I don't understand why everyone wants online play. When people went to the arcade or sport bar there was no online play, these are not a play station period
No, in bars you played your friends. We still want that experience to be able to play with our friends, some who live across the country. That's spirit of competition is what made Golden Tee so popular.
All the arcade 1ups never seem to have consistent players online anyways except for nba jam none of the beat ‘em ups ever got anyone maybe 1 private game
Hey James, great review 👊 Thank you for breaking this down and showing the packaging. Looks really good, I’ll see you on the leaderboards! JHE Love it!
I have 2004 GT Fore Complete and love it, buddies come over after softball so i somewhat see your point w/ online, i watched your veiw from the side closely and looks like a good size and enough room looks like a great buy at price IMO if i didn't have the big boy i would buy it great review
I have the XL of this. The game that gets played the most is the bowling. Even though it is simplistic, it is fun and not too long. The actual golf games you’re stuck playing 18 holes. I wish they could have let you just play 9. 18 just takes too long if you have a few people playing. Great review
I love my XL but the trackball doesn't spin smoothly, I'm gonna have to oil it or something. Yeah being able to play with people online would be a bonus. Great review, now people who missed out have a chance to get one
Did you ever fix your XL trackball? Mine works well enough, but at certain angles it's just a little chunky. I think my ball actually has a deformity in it. 😂
How did you manage to get this cabinet? Just curious is all. I preordered from best buy right after it was announced. They delayed my order once the shipment date came. And of course i had all the constantly changing names for my preorder.
Also pre-ordered but from a different store. It was up at other retailers before best buy and I was able to pick up locally instead of waiting for it to ship.
I just noticed something while looking at other videos. The deluxe version has a taller bezel at the bottom of the monitor compared to the XL to accommodate the lack of room for your hand. Interesting.
Looks like Wayfair is selling it for $504 this weekend with a 10% off coupon ($50 off). Not a bad deal, but I still can’t quite get myself to pull the trigger.
Good review, thx. But... wow.. hitting the screen with your fingers after rolling the ball is a big red flag for me. Looks like they should have made the control panel with a little more depth before the monitor. bummer...
My hand slams into the screen on the full-size versions too if I really try to slam it. Reality is, you get a better shot if you use more finesse, but thats not as fun. lol
I doubt it will be patched in, but dont see any reason it couldn't if they engaged a known dev team like CodeMystics to do it. Who knows what licensing limitations may be in place preventing them. Can't imagine they dont recognize the value of online play with this cab given its integral part of their other games.
@@JamesHatesEverything The Only thing I dis-like about that cab is the control deck at 3/4 scale it seems too short. I hate hitting my hand on the screen..... And Please keep us posted regarding the OS.
@@TechicallyTNT Unfortunately, it does not seem to be android. I tried all the tricks to bust out of kiosk mode or the app and getting no response. The USB slot on this PCB is right next to the port at the top right, which is a bit different than the android ones.
@@JamesHatesEverything Thank you so much for the reply, and the information. If it's not Android, I'm guessing it's a Linux distribution of some type. Regardless, Thanks again for checking, and enjoy that cab.
Nice review, James. Looks like the best version to buy, at least from Arcade1up. Sounds like the track ball is better than the XL version, but still not great, is that right? I also would have liked to see online play, but it’s not a deal breaker for me. I could see myself picking this up on sale.
Trackball seems fine. I need to see if it can be calibrated to see if that fixes thensligt drift when rolling backwards or if others using mine have the same issue. It's slight and didn't affect game play, other than maybe bowling.
@@JamesHatesEverything Sounds good, will be interested to hear if you find a fix, or if they release some kind of software update to fine tune calibration.
@@JamesHatesEverything let’s go! Fun review once you get that in the row with the other arcades post some pictures I’d love to see the height of it.. also looks like the ball sits close to the screen is there a problem with hitting your hands on the screen? Thanks!
@TheCornerCade definitely hit it, you can see in one shot. However, if you use say both thumbs to swing the ball in a more finesse way, it works better anyway. Hitting the screen doesn't really bother me, I always hit the screen on the big ones back in the bar days too. So it adds to the nostalgia lol.
Thanks for the review. Bummer for those that wanted online play. For me, that’s not really a big deal or why I would or would not get it. Good for my basement when friends and family are over.
I would of loved online play but I already have the XL and think a lot of people would of been pissed off if the deluxe included online play when the XL did not
Yep, it wasn't. That doesn't change the reality that the game suffers without it and it was a miss by a1up to not include it. Having said that, I do believe if they could have, they would have.
Thank you for coming on the live show last night and sharing your opinions on this cabinet!

Online leaderboards are fun that’s why

This was wonderful. I found it very informative and entertaining. French onion dip.

Great review. Can't wait for mine to arrive!
Great review as always. May have to pick this up

Is it possible to add more games to the system
@@edmondlee4932 not natively.
Very refreshing to see an honest review. I’ll hold out for a sale. Hoping it hits that $299 price like Street Fighter did.
I just noticed something while looking at other videos. The deluxe version has a taller bezel at the bottom of the monitor compared to the XL to accommodate the lack of room for your hand. Interesting.
Yeah if you angle up in your spin, you easily miss the screen.

$400 at Costco now
It won't allow online play thru the license w a1up. Online gt is strictly thru their home gt pedestals scrip paid to it
Well done. Great review!
Hi, can you please tell me how many inches the trackball is from the screen?
5 1/2 to the bottom of the screen bezel. The screen is at a fairly good angle. So it's 9 inches to the bottom of the actual screen.
@JamesHatesEverything thanks. Not too bad. Atgames trackball is about 6.5" from top of trackball to bottom of screen.

The game is limited. You cant exceed the limit no matter how hard you roll it.
How were you able to get yours so early?
I was able to pick mine up and not have to wait for shipping.
10/10 on this review James - very well done ! I am not picking it up because it doesn't have online play. Any chance of that being patched in ?

Thank You for the Review, Great Content. I've got to ask, do you know if the PCB is running Android?
I didn't check for this video, but definitely plan to, would be great to add other titles to this one.

Online play would’ve been nice, but not a must. I would’ve liked to have heard audio of the trackball when it was rolling.
Noted. The trackball sounds like the real thing. No odd sounds or stutters.
@@JamesHatesEverything sounds like they may have improved it from the xl. I put an original in my XL.
Are you reading the elgato prompter!?
No, just riffing. Didn't want to take the time to write a script out.

Would have been better if they just wrapped it in a plain brown box and put more into the game.

I have to disagree. This game does not need online play. I'm in my 40s. And I would rather my friends come over to play them play them online
Your hand is constantly hitting the screen.....have better range of motion on the XL
I’ve got a golden tee countercade and my hand don’t hit the screen 😊
To be fair, my hand hits the screen on the real ones too. It's all about your technique. This is very playable without hitting the screen.
Would be interested in golden tee complete… until then it’s a pass
A “Huge Miss”… that’s Arcade 1 Up’s slogan. Overpriced trash, everything they make.
Terrible review. Online play wasn't advertised so why spend so much time talking about it. Only care about gameplay and controls and monitor

Yeah I kind of get what you mean because AtGames isn't changing significant game code. They just built a local emulation machine for the games as is.
