Well done for finishing this one! I recognised myself in your video at 13:06-13:07! I'm the guy with the orange jersey and the blue shorts to your front-right. I was strong up until the 28th K after which my left leg siezed with cramps and I just barely got to the end. I hope you enjoyed yourself during your stay and wish you all the best in your future runs.
How cool! And congratulations on your finish as well! Between the heat and that incline it was a tough one! I enjoyed exploring Athens very much, and good luck to you on your future training goals as well!
Nice video. They call it the Athens AUTHENTIC Marathon because it uses (for the most part) the original race courses of ancient times and for the first recreated, competitive marathon race in 1896. So, it's a "claim" that no other major marathon race can make.
I'm new to the marathon scene. I've done plenty of halfs, but I just finished my second one today, and I signed up for Athens this year. Judging by the hills, I doubt it'll be another PR, but I feel pretty good about it...after I recover from this one.
Very cool! Congratulations on your recent marathon finish! That long incline at Athens is sneaky draining, lol, but at least you know about it ahead of time and can conserve your energy accordingly! Good luck and have fun!
@@runawaywithliz I finished Athens this Sunday. Those hills were no joke, but not as brutal as I expected. Still, it was worth it for the scenery and getting to meet other runners from around the globe. I was shooting for six and a half hours and ended up being far faster than I thought. After finishing this one, my next marathon will be far more manageable.
Hey, which hotel did u use? Epidavros has had a great view from the top and breakfast hall to the akropolis. 17 km uphill, 6.300 kcal after 5:45, that was the toughest of my marathons. 42 at the 42th?
Thank you for your video, I enjoyed watching this special marathon through somebody else's eyes. I have run it three times (2022, 2021 and 2022), and hoping to run it again in 2026, for yet another ghastly birthday they aren't the fun at my age as when I was a kid :)
I think that sounds like a fabulous way to spend a birthday! I'm glad you enjoyed the video-I had fun putting it together! It is such a cool experience!
Bravo Liz !!! I thought, you would run only a part of the race. Not the hole route !!! On the ``medal`` is written : ``ΑΘΛΟΝ ΤΩ ΚΑΛΛΙΝΙΚΩ`` We still use these ancient words , but I can`t transfer the right meaning to ENG or DEU. (don`t try google).
Looks like an amazing run! I'll have to look out for Lemon Drop at my very first marathon this year!
Thanks for watching!! Lemon Drop Hill will be a piece of cake! Have fun with training!
