The third portrait was my favorite. I love them all. This is how I aspire to paint; I liked how you went with how you felt about the temperature of Charlie's face. It was really motivating. I have never had an art class so I thrive on these videos and especially enjoy yours, both your expertise and your approach to teaching. Many thanks!
@@africaart as he jokes at the begining, accuracy to the subject wasnt really his goal, it was more about, value, color harmony, and 3d form. I felt the 2nd painting was the most compelling in all those categories.

@@ProkoTV Might be a good idea to put a direct link in the notes, so in few years people will still be able to find it. Very good (and informative) video by the way :)
@@ProkoTV nope dont be ! these kinda things tend to happen especially when youre uploading this often , waking up to a video everyday is so much fun , keep going :)
I used to be the same way. Just jump into it :) it gets incredibly fun once you actually get started. Thinking about starting a painting can be pretty overwhelming. "Ohh what am I gonna paint? What if it's bad? I'll just waste paint." Just jump in think you're not really going to show it to anyone so nobody will judge you if it turns out bad. It will probably be much better than you think! Enjoy!
Don't worry about making "real paintings", do studies until you feel confident. Allow yourself to make plenty of mistakes and put all of the bad paintings out as quickly as possible so you can start on the good ones.
The thumbnails alone are beautiful. You should do a comic book like that. If you want to challenge yourself, try wearing shooting glasses. They're those yellow tinted safety glasses you see at the store.
The one with the blue is my favorite, the two oranges I... Dislike the orange. They are well done, I'm just not fond of orange. I prefer blue lights, how it create shadows and lights at the same times as it's dark and cool but still is a light (as it comes from a light bulb). Don't know if I'm clear ... this is an interesting and inspiring video ! I also like your style of painting with these oils, that painterly sketchy brushy look with shapes that together give something. It tells and shows how these abstract and basic shapes can trick the eye/brain to see reality and forms he knows. I know it's the basic of art/painting/drawing, some would say. I just love when it stays on that stage of shapes, colors, nearly abstract/realistic. your explanations are clear, really clear, and precise, light, shadow, colors on action, that's great ! can't wait to see the next video ! (and the one on the parc was also an inspiring one, interesting and... Funny !)
1:23 I thought you were gonna say: "Another trick for Quick Sketch Painting: Make sure you can open the colors QUICKLY!" 😂 (mine are always pasted shut, so I feel you!!)
I thought you would be doing ONE in half an hour. ..but 4!!!! Wow. Not sure which is my fave I loved watching how you did this. Seemed to be at a gentle pace too and time for explanations in middle. Loved it. Thank you. Just a pity that we didn't get to see the whole canvas at the end. Need to watch again on my laptop rather than my phone so that I can see more.
Each portrait was under a half an hour, but they still took around 25 min each (except for the last one, which was closer to 15 min). You can see the final painting on instagram @stanprokopenko
My favorite portrait is the first speed painting. But the second one has the best color palette - I think. Question: Is it intentional that you are using colored towel / zewa? If yes, why? I like that you incorporated many different angles on one canvas. Like the old master did. Great art in action! Love it
Dude I draw portraits too but I don’t paint. I suck at it. It’s so interesting to hear you think! Keep explaining what’s missing and how you think it should be fixed.
Good but I miss the zoom tool, the smudge tool and a very important one ! ctrl +z for undo. I think it is brave to do this Challenge for sure. best to worst for me 3-4-2-1. Good luck for the rest.
What the frig! This was awesome, definitely learned from just watching and hearing you describe the colors and lighting, and just doing the painting and not thinking too long about the outcome. Thank you! So dope.
Truly a great video, keep up the good work bud. And I have one request and that is if you can do a video about drawing crowds of people, i tried alot of times and I usually get lost at a certain point. And thanks in advance even if you just read my proposition
This proko guy is a really good artist. He should open a school or start an online program to teach people to draw as well as he does.
Me in future taking proko online program
I would have loved to see the final piece all together with the 4 sketches on it :/
I posted it on Instagram
@@ProkoTV I was gonna to say the same, i'm gonna look on instagram =)
I love this type of human painting, no specific eyes, nor a lot of details. Smooth... nice job man:)
this is why we love your content its new fresh bright and interesting
Also, "your mom"!
I like the basicness of it, the simple strokes look really cool at the end. I'll take it for 100 grand.

This is random but can you make a video about clothes?
I keep drawing nudes now and they demand clothes.
I have the same issue and it's kinda hilarious
Well, you don't HAVE to draw them clothed if you have your drawing's consent.
nemo I know, I have the same problem. Usually though they just want me to leave the bathroom
Be careful about clothes, like house elves, they will get their freedom and leave.
Sorry... But I feel so funny 😂😂😂😂😂
I love this series. It's a lot more relaxed, and fun, and intuitive than the usual lessons you make but we're still learning lots. Thank you, Stan.
Proko man you've been going OFF lately with these videos. So much damn respect so much respect.
Putting the dried up tubes of oil paint into the hot water makes it much easier to open them.
Woah that's acc helpful, never thought of that
I use a piece of rubberised shelf liner.... works every time!
This is the earliest I've caught one of your videos! The anticipation for each new video in this series is very serious.
Since you asked nicely, I'll rank them.
1. Painting 2
2. Painting 1
3. Painting 3
4. Painting 4
The second painting didn't even look like him & you think it is the best?

Hey...to open a stuck paint tube, heat it gently over a stove top or even with a bic lighter. Love the portraits!
I love the control of color and values! The texture has some controlled chaos that is really nice.
Oil painting looks so fun. I really wanna try it out.
I love how transparent you are, and very honest (I think about the intro with the stick tube). Nice painting!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and practices.
Awesome concept. And you sharing this concept of quick sketching, it's even more bad ass. I've learned a lot. Thank you for sharing.
i was hoping for the completed canvas with all 4 paintings at the end but thats alright , loving these videos stan :)
Ya not sure how we missed that in the edit. Sorry. Anyway I posted it on my Instagram.

I like the cool and warm tones in the second one.
You are much better at this than I thought. Especially since the only thing I've seen you do was drawing with a pencil. I am impressed!
Put your tubes in a glass with hot water. It will losen the lids.
im still scared to put any effort into real paintings instead of drawings.. but your stuff keeps getting me a bit closer.. thanks

Fear aborts art. You just can’t allow it.
Just do it! Nike knows what's up. The best way to improve is to fail.
For me, I did it digitally until I did it for real it helped
Appreciate the quick lesson. Ten minutes and I know a lot more than I ever did about portraits in oils.
I tried this today, wow what a workout for the brain! Theres so many things to keep in mind, time flies by so fast
colors and brushwork are so delicious!
You laugh the same way my cat purs just before she gets too excited and savages you. It's nice.
I think the blue one was the best. Congrats!!!

I wanted to see all of them together at the end
If you have solvent you can use that and a brush under the lid of your paint tube to get it loose

2am in the morning. Looking forward to the next day to practice. Great video
If you feel satisfied with your drawing skills then you can tackle something like this. Great demo, Proko.
Excellent exercices, thanks a lot Charlie and Stan.
Really relaxing. Reminds me a little bit on bob ross...
Damn, dat Smash Bros reference. You know how to get our likes! :D
Charlie brushes up.
You’re just brilliant- sooo human! My tubes are all dried up too - hopefully this vid will get me to get the lids off 😂
I love your playful approach!

wow the mastery of the technique to not spill paint over all your clothes. Very impreessive
I like that you couldn't open your paint due to lack of use. It helps me not feel like a loser for not having painted in a while. 🙄 Cool video Stan!
Which brush is this
Please do more painting videos! You're incredible!

Hey, Stan. If you're doing a highlight and are struggling to make it pop as much as you want, try adding the complimentary color.

Hi Proko.. please make a video tutorial on how do you choose the right shade of color
When you are doing a painting, do you start by drawing the outline first or do you just start painting?
I like the 3th ( the one with the intense warm orange) the most! :D
good video as always!
I'm literally doing some quick sketch looser portrait paintings today too for Christmas gifts 👌. 10/10 best timing

Thanks, Proko. & can you make the video on how to draw the Clothed figure from imagination?
This is so helpful thanks Mr. Proko!
How did Charlie keep such a straight face through all those jabs? I loled multiple times.
Great stuff. Please do more painting tutorials Stan. I think I like the first one you did.
Love the smash music, who ever edits these is a genius xD
Really like the third one!
To get a purple, you need to paint with the CMY color model.
Thank you for your amazing content as always
You can warm the colour tube with a lighter to open it easily. Just in case it happens again 😉
I’m inspired again to try oil painting. 👍🏻
Did you do over voice in this video?
use match heat cap will soften dried paint makes cap easy to remove
I like the blue one and the second orange one
Charlie has a great face!
Are the blue and red lights spray painted? They look spray painted for some reason. Just curious.

Like your videos a lot
You are so insightful about the colours, the shapes, your every decision on the canvas.. It made it look so simple but we all know it isnt 😂

I need to try these exercises, I’m too much of a perfectionist with oil painting and it takes me a long time to paint.
Quick tip for tubes that are hard to open; just hold the top under hot water for a little while. Thank me later =P thx for the video!
You make it look so easy but it’s not! Nice portraits though, better than what I can get on a canvas.
