      You dont throw components away until the job is buttoned up and tested though or you will find yourself going the Bin Scrounge if stuff breaks, doesnt fit right or runs wonky and considering how much they buy from Fleabay? ID be VERY nice to old bits lol

    Told the young bloke to pull the valve cover off an EA years ago, while I was out. Came back and walked past it, and paid out on him because it looked like he hadn’t done it. It was done alright. There was a perfect outline in gunk, of the underside of the valve cover. 😂

    I just gotta say, I like the way this vid is put together. Step by step dismantling. Camera is steady when it needs to be. Narration is clear and concise. The right tools are used as required.
    Also interesting was the comment that despise frequent oil changes, as you would expect in a performance engine, there is still "crud" under the cam covers. It must be noted that the engine was used and there is no guarantee that it was maintained properly by previous owner.
    And those bloody head bolts, tight as a ... you know the rest. Nice work, applying force, but not too much. Just right like Baby Bear.
    I own '90 Volvos and I'm tempted to replace the venerable red block with a 1JZ after watching the vids on the Trolvo.

    Scotty, if you needed to get that bolt out and it was stripped out you would use a burr bit on a die grinder and remove the head from the shank of the bolt (down the guts). All the tension is between the mating surface of the bolt and the cylinder head, so once you separate it off you can turn the shank of the bolt out with vise grips if not just bare fingers. (Yes burr bits are messy and the metal filings suck, but those bolts are far too hard to drill).

    • @STREETMACHINETV
      @STREETMACHINETV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that's i something I've done before but there's not much room to play with in those heads, which is why they use those bolts

    Want more and more consistent power ? Add a proper cold air intake.
    The colder the air the denser the charge a motor gets the more power it makes. If the air is not being drawn through the radiator the engine will run cooler and timing won’t be pulled out by the ecu to prevent pre detonation. So more power.
    Either cut a hole in the fender or move the radiator down a bit to fit a cold air duct.

    You said all barra's that have gone tens all have valve springs done that's not true, my brother in-law had a BF XR6 Turbo that did 10.9 on stock internals, it still had the stock intake manifold and plenum, stock cross over pipe on top of the engine as well. He tried out 3 different turbos, 3 exhaust systems, 4 intercoolers, 3 brands of coil packs, many types of spark plugs and 5 different tuning set-ups. Other than the wheels, a fibreglass bonnet, shocks, springs, adjustable sway bar and a $5000 stereo system, the rest was factory. The only weight reduction was the bonnet and wheels.

      He worked at a auto parts store when he had it and was constantly finding parts that would give it more power. He spent half of what he payed for the car on the upgrades. The most power it made was almost 500kw at the wheels and 1180nm of torque, it has a ZF 6 speed sequential auto. He sold it to a guy in his 60s his wife wanted a faster car, she didn't expect that car. Then my brother in-law got an STI Forrester that made 300kw (I for get the torque) then traded that in for a 2019 Isuzu MU-X which he still has and it is 200kw and 890nm torque. He's getting it tuned again in August or September now he's got the DPF delete, bigger turbo and exhaust.
