Zuko this episode is so interesting. He realizes that his “side” is actively hurting people and hunting him. The fire nation he’s always known isn’t actually the good guys. Then he steals the ostrich-horse, seemingly deciding that if he’s always been the bad guy, he might as well act like it, even after Song fed him and Iroh. He went from royalty to common thief, not because he thinks he deserves the horse, but because he thinks he deserves to be seen as a bad guy. He’s essentially punishing himself. Even after Azula attacks him, he wants to capture the avatar to prove to everyone (including himself) that he’s not irredeemable, but can’t stop believing that he is.

The traveling hippies are a fun vibe.
Such a good ep. they build up omashu and give you all this history and the beautiful story that created it, only for the gang to see that its been occupied and trampled on by the fire nation. like we wouldn't give much of a shit if it was just some random earth kingdom city, but getting the backstory and history really makes you care and feel disgusted by the fact it's become another casualty of the war

Lol right? Like there’s a difference between rivals to lovers, and “trying to murder you, and everyone you know, and love” to lovers. You can forgive, and even befriend someone like that, but falling in love with someone that had you living in fear for a greater part of a year?
To put into perspective why people ship it. Despite it's many red flag. I watched over 20 reactors and I can say it's 50-50 by my count. It often begins in ep.14 the fortune teller,by this time we as the audience have already empathize with Zuko also by this time some people feel that they have an idea of what Katara is attracted to. "The Jet type "
Zuko fits that type. He is by this point a "Good version of Jet ." So they begin to ship it. When the fortune teller says she will marry "A very powerful bender."
Ignoring Aang
Another reason is that some reactors see themselves in Zuko in terms of his internal struggles ,and often relate to him more than a simple monk. While other mainly females already develop crushes on Zuko and with Katara already being a main female lead they pair them together. This is Thier feelings by S2 ep2
They often let it go here but light the flames agian as the season progresses . We all know that scene in the finale. They will ignore the logic . That a real person would find it difficult (Not impossible) to fall in love with someone whoes hunt you down and try to hurt you and your friends, no matter if the reason is understandable. It still doesn't make it right.
But it's all fun and in good nature, it's after all a fantasy, logics don't apply and I'm okay with it. One is allowed to ship who ever they want.

The writers thought that maka'ole meant "without eyes" in the Hawaiian language.
Turns out it means "eye tooth".
Wrong. I'm Hawaiian, and it really does translate to "without eyes." Tooth is "niho," and thus "eye tooth" would be something along the lines of "maka niho," or simply "ole." ʻOkina's (ʻ) can totally separate the meaning of words. "OLE" is eyetooth. "ʻOLE" is without/not. If they wanted to translate it to something more specific, it would be something like "ʻikeʻole," which can be a double meaning of "without sight" and "without knowledge."
This is the first time the AangxKatarra relatiomship really starts (yes i refuse to use ship names because most of them sound terrible compared to saying the names fully) and I was here for it. I was also a young man at the time who was and still is a hopeless romantic and just wanted two characters I loved to get together

Maple picks up on things so quickly, I realized it after seeing her reaction to Dune. I love the books and I was impressed at how well she understood everything going on the in the movie, as most first time watchers are quite confused at things she easily understood. Maybe it’s just that she pays more and/or better attention, but since then I’ve noticed it more and more, but she’s very intuitive and I don’t know why it’s taken so long for me to notice that. She’s quick on the uptake.
