A superb tutorial Rob! What a lovely coloured blend! Wish I had done this now, before using the Medium Grey Blend. Looks so much better than my lumpy, bumpy work. Oh well, now I know what to do next time around. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for commenting and complimenting. Would you do me a favor? The next time you are track side, measure an average piece of ballast. I would be interested in calculating the true scale size of aggregate they use. I like the fine grade because it forms so nicely. It is probably for "N" gauge. Oh well. Rob
Rob McCrain Hi Rob. When modelling in 00 I have read that some people use N gauge ballast for the branch lines and the bigger 00 ballast for the mainlines as they tend to use larger pieces in real life. I don't know how true this is, just what I have read. I suspect it varies a lot from location to location too.
Great info video, thanks for sharing.

Hi Scott, some folks have struggled with how to ballast the foam bed, so I thought I would offer up my take on it. Rob

No worries!

Thank you Tony. If I keep the glue off the sleepers, they stay cleaner. Cheers my Man, Rob
Thanks Rob, I picked up a couple of handy tips there. Cheers, Dan
Maybe it will help someone. Thank you Dan. It was a fun one to make, although I do not enjoy ballasting much. Cheers, Rob
Different way again Rob, looks good finished
Al
Thank you Al. I just go along doing things my own way...Rob
Ive never used track bed!!! But if ever do, n want to ballast it, i'll knw who to come to :)
Thank you Matthew. You are very kind in your comment. Not that many use it, but those that do are challenged to ballast it. Rob
I can imagine its a bit of a pain trying to cover the depth of it??! I HATE ballasting anyway!
Matthew Snowden Tis a bit. All ballasting's a pain tho
True!
