Hello 👋 next time your in north jersey check out Fat Moose Comics in Whippany. They’re celebrating their 40th anniversary in April - oldest comic shop in NJ. Shawn, the owner, is doing an amazing job !
I'm a year late, but was thrilled to see my local comic shop (Comic Universe) made the list. The store has been around nearly 45 years and John does a really great job with the place, both with inventory and with keeping the shop's legacy alive for those of us who grew up going in there.
This is great because all theses shops are between an hour and a half to 2 hours from me. You should check out Fat Moose Comics in Whippany, NJ. Great customer service (one of the nicest guys I’ve ever talked to in a comic shop), not too deep a selection on back issues but incredibly fair on his pricing. Plus they have a stamp program where every $100 spent gets you $10 credit
James, thanks for your enthusiasm here! Comics are about joy: the joy of reading them, collecting them, hunting them, speculating with them, the sense of community with fellow collectors or whatever makes us happy. This video is about that joy. Here in the Netherlands we do not have many comic shops, but I do want to give a mighty shout-out to CIA comics import in Amsterdam. A huge collection of comics, current and back issues, good pricing and an owner who lives and breathes comics. Gotta love his dog as well. It's all a bit chaotic - he has no total overview of all the comics he owns - but that adds to the charm. If you're visiting the Netherlands, go to this store. You'll love it.
So awesome to see that two Delaware stores made the list. If you want a new store in the tri-state area try a newer place called Comics Corner that's in Middletown PA. Guy who runs it has the biggest back issue section around that is always growing.
The Comic Book Shop! Is my LCS! Love em, cant wait to get to my pull box there tomorow. Was awesome to see you stop there on your past video. Thats wrong of them others to do you dirty but always good to know a lot of shops are owned by good honest people.
I'd like to say my shop out here in Cleveland. North coast nostalgia. They give 20% off all books including new books. They also give 15-30% off graphic novels. Also the comic books guy is so nice :)
I think my local comic shop is better. uncle Fred's comics in Connecticut. It's a super small comic shop with 1000s of comics and they are super cheap. If you go there often he'll give you amazing discounts like $30 off a comics that $100+
Great content! I live in the area and agree with 9 of your 10 selections. May I suggest the following - Joker’s Child in Fair Lawn, NJ. Conquest Comics in Bayville, NJ, and The Comic Store in Lancaster, PA are all great stores with a huge selection of back issues at fair prices. Conquest has the best raw modern wall book and back issue box selection in the area. The drive is worth it.
I hear mixed things about them but they hooked me up at MCCC. Got a killer deal on a Batman 232! I gotta check out their physical location next time I'm in MI and see for myself.
@@TheIncredibleCJ Michigan isn’t like the coasts. Different market and supply. Big Ben’s has a great atmosphere worth supporting and they’ve hooked me up with reasonable offers. I’d rather support them local than pay the money I’d save in shipping when buying online. For me the local community is worth investing in.
I will make sure to visit all the stores when i go to the states, my personal recommendation when you come to the Philippines to visit any Filbars comics branch it's worth the visit!
This is a great video idea if you ask me, especially considering everything that's happened over the past year, comic book stores definitely need the love
Orbital space comics in london is such a good shop. Huge range and a really friendly owner whos very passionate and often gives comics for free to new and frequent customers
Cloud City in Emmaus Pa. Knowledgeable and they have more than just comics. The Encounter in Allentown Pa. They are good for TPBs and have a $10 variant bin to go along with a large amount of dollar bin. I've also been to JAF Comics once and enjoyed the experience.
It's a hike and a half for you, but Ultimate Comics in Cary, NC is an awesome 'full service' shop with cool employees & great selection. They put on a couple of shows a year in Durham & Raleigh.
Check out Tales of Adventure in Coopersburg, PA. More dollar bins than any store I’ve ever seen. Visiting the store is like attending a convention, so many dollar comics.
In the nw Atlanta area, Dr No’s in Marietta Ga….owner and the entire staff are great. Carries at least 1 of every TPB. Best selection of current comics and omnibuses and plenty of long boxes to go through for back issues. Subbed for another GL fan!
If you're ever in the Minneapolis area, I recommend Comic Book College in Roseville. They were in Minneapolis for decades, but one tenant made them move for a new development and the next tenant just all of a sudden gave them a one month notice. Dan Jurgens is (I believe) a regular, as I've seen in him there a number of times. Very friendly staff, great prices, and great selections.
Great list!! Your assessments are spot on for the stores I’ve been to on the list. I’m going to turn the ones I haven’t visited into a nerd/geek pub crawl in the coming weeks and just hit them all in one shot.
Thanks for the recommendations. I've been to several of these since I live in the same town as Comic Fusion. I'd recommend JC Comics in Plainfield, NJ for their inventory and setup and Little Shop of Comics in Scotch Plains, NJ. Both are setup very nicely. You'll have to judge the personnel for yourself.
Please, if you ever come down south to Foley, AL… check out Covert Comics and Collectibles. AMAZING inventory. Amazing staff. The owner is so kind and knowledgeable.
Hey, James. Positivity! Oh, my God, the New Hope area is wonderful. I live in NJ but was fortunate enough to visit New Hope a long time ago and i've always wanted to go back there. I fell in love with the cheese. Thanks for the recommendations.
There only three comic book stores that I have been too in Austin, Texas. Austin Books and Comics has over 25 Short Boxes of $20 and up books. Over 50,000 under $20 comics. They employees are very knowledgeable and always eager to help. Another store I go to is called Bat City Comics. They have a small selection of books but are very kind and eager to help. I have only gone twice but every time I go they have better and better comics. The last place I go is called Titan Moon Comics for the great staff. I go there to play Dungeons and Dragons and Magic The Gathering. I know most of the staff and have gotten to know the owner pretty well. They have an okay amount of back isuex , but the best part is playing the table top games. The final store I go to is Discount Comic Book Service. I don't persay go to them but I order my monthly comics from them. I get 40% off of all comics and sometimes 50% off. And what is really awesome.e is that the hard covers are always %50 off.
My recommendations are all in MA. Mint Comics and Collectibles in North Reading, MA; Comically Speaking in Reading, MA; Paper Asylum in Beverly, MA; and Rubber Chicken in Bellingham, MA. Selected for selection, prices, or customer service.
Awesome list, once I get a chance I will check these out! Side note, that one dislike on this video is from that one guy who made him drive 4 hours just to try to rip him off.
Lemonjuice McGee’s Comic Calvacade in Somerset Kentucky. Best shop I’ve been to hands down. Knowledgeable staff and they care about the customer. I drive 6 hours a couple times a year to go.
I don't get to buy as many comics as I used to, so I drive 25 minutes to my LCS, Oak Leaf in Mason City, Iowa. Their back issues selection is always awesome, and their new comics display is terrific. There's also Now & Then up there, but they don't have much for back issues. They do have a wide selection of manga, which I appreciate.
Freedom Comics in Toledo, Ohio, James! It’s such a great place not just for comics, but for Funko POP! figures, statues, action figures, graphic novels, and trade paperbacks! They have great customer service, very cool employees and owners, and amazing deals!
Cyborg One and Zapp are definitely two of my favorite shops of all time. Special shoutout to Wade's Comic Madness in Levittown PA. Kinda messy, but everyone working there is SO nice and willing to help you find what you're looking for.
I am so jealous! My closest comic shop is 6h away their pricing and comics are fine but they are really nice and easy to talk to they also gave me a big discount.
I'm from Canada but if you ever come to Montreal, Quebec every time I go there there's one of my favorite childhood comic book store called 1000000 comics they are the best
Ended up going to brave new worlds in Philly. Picked up the First Appearance of Iron Fist, Elektra and Agent Venom. I ended up informing them I heard about them from your last comic hunt video and that you gave them high praise.
Nice list. If you’re ever in Florida, Coliseum of Comics would probably blow your mind. Lots of locations in central Fla , but the location in Kissimmee LEGEN………(wait for it )….. DARY !!!!!
Lots of cool spots on this list! Shout out to Cyborg One!! Also if you haven’t, check out Wade’s comic madness in Levittown. I’ve only been there twice but each time was a good experience
Honestly Cult Fiction Comics in Boothwyn, PA is an amazing shop! The have great dollar bins including some 1970's magazines, I even picked up a graphic novel out of there dollar bin. They also have some amazing back issues from very early action comics to just keys upon keys. You should definitely check out sometime!
I highly recommend Third Eye Comics. They have locations in MD and VA. Huge stores, the best customer service and they have signings once in a while like James Tynion IV and Tom King this month
Third Eye Comics is the greatest, it's the only comic shop I've ever seen that has grown. The have moved twice in the time I've been going, each time to bigger spot. Steve has done a great job growing the shop.
I find haggling depends on what kind of store it is. Many stores are not setup to deal with haggling. If it’s run like a typical retailer, they can not and will not haggle. If it’s run by the owner or has a manager that has the power to haggle, then they will likely negotiate.
I been to variety shops and know one used to go alot when was closer is not around no more for any reason. but one i got to check out as mile high comics when i went to visit family in colorado and that is-Mile High Comics. u can see tours on videos on youtube but it way better if u wable go to the main place in real and just be in aww or shocked how big the place is any. was able get some comics at time but hope to go again later since i saw videos they had 3 different shops going but now down to just 2 or one now cause of cost and all.
Wish we had access to this many stores in the same radius. Sadly, being in Perth Western Australia, we only have three comic book stores and only one of them is consistently good. Won't be able to get out to USA for 4-5 years currently, but fully intend to use long service leave so I can spend a good 2-3 months over there and do the occasional comic book store visit on the way through :) Your road trip videos are fun to watch and would be cool if you end up covering comic shops a bit further west of your normal areas :) Keep up the good work mate :)
Trilogy Comics in VA is a great shop has a ton of back issues. They almost have all of the recent variants on NCBD. Local's Heroes is another great shop in Virginia
Probably pretty local to you but Heroes in Burlington is great. Formerly Collectors Corner in the Burlington Center, Daryl has a pretty good selection. Several dollar boxes, back issues, up to date how, omnibus and graphic novels, keys and first appearance books separated. Great wall books and slabs. I've been buying books from him since I was a kid, highly recommended.
I didn’t realize you were in my neck of the woods. “The Comic Book Shop” and Blue Hen have both done me right, might as well check out all the rest of these!
Next time you are in NJ, try Frankenstein Comics (the oldest comic book shop in the county) in Woodbury. Bill is just fabulous, and beloved by all south NJ.
We only have 2 shops here, Memory Lane Comics Shop, and Fanboy Comics. They both carry all the lastest books, one has some back issues and deal toys and statues, where the other has 1000s of back issues no toys/stats/slab. I rarely go into them.
I'm heading out on a trip to Illinois and Wisconsin next week. I plan on hunting for toys, comics and collectibles. I'm hoping the stores have good inventory and great prices.
NJ and PA area huh? If you take a drive into upstate NY, I highly recommend Sound Go Round in Vestal, NY. For new releases my hometown shop in Oneonta, NY is Secret Comix Cave which is amazing. Always has the new stuff you are looking for as he only allows one copy of each book per cover per customer unless you preorder extra copies ahead of time which he is happy to order for you. He just wants everyone to have the opportunity to read the comics they want to read. Love that place! If go on trip to these places, you better hit me up. Would love to join you on a hunt!
Also when I was in undergrad, Ravenswood was my new release place and CNY Comic Archive for back issues (open the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month), are both great stores in the Utica, NY area. Not sure how Ravenswood is now but I loved going there every Wednesday. Its been around for like 30 years now.
Love hearing about good LCS’!! Unfortunately, I have yet to find a decent one relatively close to me, let alone a good one, closest one is 2 hours away, been there 3 or 4 times, each time has been a disappointment (high prices, rude employees, wall books are kept up near the ceiling so you cant view them and asking to get one down resorts in eye rolls and sighs, and a severe lack of back issues) they have 3 locations in the same city and I have been to 2, both shared the same experience. The 3rd one is closer to 3 hours away but I will give em a shot, but im not holding my breath lol.
@@MintHunterComics It's like little nuances of rude too, like one of the locations keeps some back issues in like a dresser drawer style cabinet, so when you open it or closes it, a noise is made. Every time the noise was made when opening or closing a new drawer to look through, the worker would stare at me like I was being so loud and he watches you the whole time you are in a drawer. It was very awkward, and the whole place was dead silent (with like 5 or 6 other people in the store) because that is the type of atmosphere the owner wanted I guess, I don't know. But no questions, no discussions about new books, about spec, about anything really. Just not my scene I guess, the environment was very "get what you are getting and go"
Comic Book City in Madison, Ohio, the owners there are amazing and almost always give me free stuff when I go there and Comic's And Friends in Mentor, Ohio, they're good when it comes to organization
I couldn't agree more with Brave New World in williow Grove. There wall books are legit. Check out Wade's Comic Madness in Levittown they give 5 percent off when you pay cash. It's not much but every little bit helps Also its a bit of a drive. Ontario comics. It's where they filmed Unbeakable and Glass.
Its nice to see a local on here. I used to do utube hauls. It's been 2 years since I stopped. My buddy Paloopasaurus check him out we did alot of hunting together.
Do you know of any places where you can find long boxes of comics that aren't comic shops? I love visiting my lcs as much as the next person, but I also really enjoy hunting for keys for a steal, and most comic shops aren't gonna have a key book in the dollar bins
first i really like what your doing but my fave is the mysterious time machine in nyc at 104 washington st i have known roger over 30 years covid hit his buss hard and has had to move a few times but he has the deepest stacks of great books not just comics but mags as well he has been in biz for almost 40 years and back issues are in massive amounts so if your in nyc check him out he should be reopening soon you wont be sorry
I love rewarding all my great local shops with my money! I'm lucky to have quite a few in my area. There's really only one I won't visit and that's mainly because he's super unfriendly, horrible customer service.

Won't be able to get out to USA for 4-5 years currently, but fully intend to use long service leave so I can spend a good 2-3 months over there and do the occasional comic book store visit on the way through :)
Your road trip videos are fun to watch and would be cool if you end up covering comic shops a bit further west of your normal areas :)
Keep up the good work mate :)
Trilogy Comics in VA is a great shop has a ton of back issues. They almost have all of the recent variants on NCBD. Local's Heroes is another great shop in Virginia
I got burned in Virginia pretty bad recently but it's nice to know there are some good shops there!
Lol now where near your comic shops but here in Houston. My favs are bedrock (1960) and Nans Comics
I'd love to check em out!
@@MintHunterComics Houston has maybe about 40 different and a variety if you will of sorts
I didn’t realize you were in my neck of the woods. “The Comic Book Shop” and Blue Hen have both done me right, might as well check out all the rest of these!
These are the best of the best!
Hoping to make my first trip to Comic Universe during lunch on Monday.
Do it up man!
Memory Lane does a lot of sales on eBay.
Brave new worlds in willow grove pa and Brave New world in Philly and also atomic comics in Philly are the best shops in my area
ABSOLUTELY
I'm heading out on a trip to Illinois and Wisconsin next week. I plan on hunting for toys, comics and collectibles. I'm hoping the stores have good inventory and great prices.
Queen City Bookstore Buffalo NY and Gutter Pop also in Buffalo NY!
Thanks for the kind words! Haven't seen you in a while, did we fall out of the top 10?!?! 😆
Its been around for like 30 years now.
shout to jnj comics in fountain valley, ca!!! been a loyal customer since 2000
Nice!
Check out Heroes comics in Mt Holly, just went there this weekend. cool owner, nice slab books, back issues
Thanks! Will do!
my fav comic shop ive been to is heros realm in lexington, ky they are the bomb
I wish the UK had more comic books shops
The Douche Canoes in VA, no wait, you already went there! lol
High prices and rude employees is a major turn off - I have more than a few comic shops I don't ever need to go in again
Just not my scene I guess, the environment was very "get what you are getting and go"
If you’ve ever been to Manhattan, are there any good stores with dollar bins in the area? I’m going in two weeks.
Wish I could visit these one day.
These are all east coast. -where you from?
@@MintHunterComics near New Orleans. My lcs is closing soon. :-(
Hey James. I live in New Hope. Where are you located?
Not far! (I don't wanna disclose on this channel - but you can email me at jamisonshreds@gmail.com
Comic Book City in Madison, Ohio, the owners there are amazing and almost always give me free stuff when I go there and Comic's And Friends in Mentor, Ohio, they're good when it comes to organization
Love your videos
Thanks Brennen!
Great video - ty!
Love the positivity of this video.
I do have a question..what is the story behind the name "Captain Blue Hen"? :)
Good question! hahah you'd have to ask them!
Check out his Hulk 181 grail flea market video. You won't be disappointed
Absolutely man - great wall books - great staff
I’ve only just started to collect and I got 12 comics and they are all the flash
If I’m ever in the U.S. I’ll check them out.😁
Hahah they'll be waiting for ya!
Gotta check out Joker's Child in NJ
This is awesome because Jersey isn’t far I’m in New York
There ya go!
Do you know of any places where you can find long boxes of comics that aren't comic shops? I love visiting my lcs as much as the next person, but I also really enjoy hunting for keys for a steal, and most comic shops aren't gonna have a key book in the dollar bins
Sadly that's reserved more for yard sales and things like that!
@@MintHunterComics Yeah, thats what I was thinking, thank you! Been trying to locate garage sales in my area of NJ, but so far its been pretty limited
Heroes and Hitters, Connecticut
I'll check it out! that's not CRAZY far
Any thoughts on Ontario Street Comics or The Garden of Earthly Delights - both in Philly. 😀
Cool places!
first i really like what your doing but my fave is the mysterious time machine in nyc at 104 washington st i have known roger over 30 years covid hit his buss hard and has had to move a few times but he has the deepest stacks of great books not just comics but mags as well he has been in biz for almost 40 years and back issues are in massive amounts so if your in nyc check him out he should be reopening soon you wont be sorry
I love rewarding all my great local shops with my money! I'm lucky to have quite a few in my area. There's really only one I won't visit and that's mainly because he's super unfriendly, horrible customer service.
There's ALWAYS one hahaha
Age of comics is the best shop in my city of Albuquerque New Mexico so if you're ever in the south West area of USA check them out
How about Comic shops with great Websites and awesome packaging and shipping for NCBD orders and preorders.
That's one of the best qualities for sure!
I can not stand stickers on my comic bags. I'm always changing out bags to get rid of stickers does anyone else do that?
HATE stickers.
