Hello all! I have linked numerous exotic fruit, veg videos in description box that may interest you. Here is a bitter melon video. How to grow Bitter Melons (Ampalaya) in the UK and cold climates th-cam.com/video/Nr-io8muhe0/w-d-xo.html
I spent a year living in rural Essex. The climate is like an idyllic summer with a short hangover called winter in between. Very dry, warm, minimal rain and clouds. The rest of the UK is wet, cloudy and with a very cold wind. Just in case anyone was disappointed in their attempts. I’ve got my fingers crossed my aubergines are successful. This April has been so cold and cloudy
Here in Germany 'de Brabantene' is a ripening aubergine in my greenhouse. Not sure how to know when they are ready for harvest. Plz give advice. For the seedlings I use heat mats. My plants are growing in 10 l pots with my own worm compost and next year I will afford bigger pots. Fertilizing extra with liquid organic fertilizer.
Hi. I need some advice on my aubergine plants. It's the first time iv grown them from seed. Got them in my greenhouse. I make sure they don't dry out plus I feed them once a week. Why have I still not got any flowers on them yet?.
Yeah loved it Dan, one of the best aubergine vids. I was looking for tips on pollination and u nailed it, pretty much like a tomato just give it a tap. I'm growing mine indoors under grow lights and doing really well, big plants already.
I'm growing aubergines inside a poly tunnel and at home in my front garden. The ones outside are only slightly behind the polytunnel ones, and shorter in height. I remove the lower leaves to aid pollination and reduce any fungal issues around the fruit.
@@homegardens7682 I only got the chance to grow in a polytunnel this year Dan, previous years always outside, but in containers not in the ground, and I start them off in Jan or Feb indoors.
Good video. I've struggled with pollination this year, not set a single fruit even though I've been manually pollinating every day by brushing the flowers, any ideas?
@@homegardens7682 still nothing 😥 lots of flowers and no fruit. Wondering if I bought dud seeds or something! Tomatoes growing next to them full of fruit...
An excellent video and has taught me so much, thank you, I have my obergines in the heated propagator with lights and mid Feb they have started to get there secondary leaves.
You have encouraged me to try and grow eggplants next spring even here in zone 4a in North Dakota. Since being here for the last 1-1/2 years there are some micro-climates that I may be able to pull it off in. I'm thinking to create a cold frame with a removable lid against a south wall. I must say with all your video's you cram in lots of info and still hold interest.
Another great video👍 I've got 5 F1 Galine aubergine plants in the conservatory here in DK....first time I've tried growing any. Sowed them on 25th January...they're fairly big but no flowers yet...at least I know how to proceed now if any flowers do appear. Fingers crossed🙂
I need to pot on for the first time, how deep up the stem should I be going? I have grown them in my heated propagator didn't realise a larger pot would be better. I can't find an answer, can you help?
Hi Dan how are you?. I love the vegetables keep going we all love your videos of your videos so cool and you are awesome gardener in the world 😊. I seen your awesome videos I love them so much. I just been busy doing my garden, Dan enjoy your beautiful day and night and I see you the next video so cool. Thanks for sharing your beautiful vegetables in your vegetables 🥰😊
@@homegardens7682 cool ive got mine in my greenhouse, only one though. Tomato and peppers take up the rest of the room. Thanks for the reply. Just a quick question I'm growing quite a few different varieties of pumpkin this year, when are they ready to be harvested? Obviously I want them for Halloween for my daughter and friends. Do you harvest them well before Halloween or do you harvest them just before? Sorry might be a silly question but as I know your not far from me I guess we have a similar climate so your my go to guy lol

Indeed. We certainly can get some of the warmest UK Summers here for which I am very grateful.

Normally when they are shiny, be carefuj though as not all shine.

Hi. Oh yes. This year mine are the same. I think the colder temperatures this year have been a real hindrance.

@@bowenflob8036 They can sometimes be slow to get going. Did you plant them early in the season? What variety are they?
I've only got one aubergine plant lol, but its outside and it's not doing much, I really think they appreciate a polytunnel or greenhouse
I think that is true Brett.
An excellent video and has taught me so much, thank you, I have my obergines in the heated propagator with lights and mid Feb they have started to get there secondary leaves.
Good stuff. Such fun to grow.
I'll keep the varieties in mind next year and the timing as well. that's probably where I got it it wrong.
Good plan. I am happy with how these turned out. I am hoping the pole Sitaw beans do well, the bush ones have given a small crop.
