I am honestly torn between them..... I love it more than DJI but seeing the motors in the shot is huge loss... I am worried it could ruin lots of shots unless I really train myself to always hold it tilted.... which is strong possibility... the more you work with it the more you adjust.... 🙂📷📹📽📱

Great gimbal, I loved it, but I gave it back because of the visibility of the motor. Now I use the DJI OM4. I hope it will be also great. Best regards from Europe ;) Kai
Its no more a problem now.. they have updated the software where pressing a video button 3 times adjust the angle and you no more see the motor in the camera view.
I bought both to compare and even though I love having the removable battery and rugged form factor of the Zhiyun it’s not enough for me because when I’m trying to capture once in a lifetime footage I want to be completely focused on creatively getting the shot and not on whether or not the motor is in the shot. I also am currently an iphone user and I prefer the software on the osmo3. And I enjoy playing with their storybook feature that makes quick video clips. A bit limited yet fun to fool around with.🌻🌻🌻

Will very likely be buying this one (1st ever) for my Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus phone to film my landscape business water garden projects! Pretty sure the holder will probably not fit my phone securely with the Unicorn Beetle case on it, which makes my phone 12 MM thick but still under the total weight limit. (my phone is at 216 Grams with case).👍
Nice gimbal. It looks to be much more compact than my Zhiyun Smooth Q (1st generation). How does it balance with the Moment lens? I can’t use mine without a counterweight.

Thanks for the review Zdenka! It'll be awesome if you compare this to Osmo Mobile 3. Especially stabilization because no one has done a proper side-by-side comparison of these yet. I'm very curious which stabilizes videos better. Smooth Q2 seems to have small micro stutters that Osmo Mobile 3 does not seem to have, but I am basing this on comparing videos from different reviewers and not one reviewing both devices.

Still, ambitiously enough I want to connect my rode micro to one along with the phone ofcourse. Would you recommend smooth q2 for a noob like me? Although, intially I was drawn towards the osmo 3 based on the design aesthetic and their software support for android, but after seeing this video I'm starting to have second thoughts. I too think this would make for a good beginner gimbal before investing in the larger gimbals. How is your experience with it? Is the small size allowing you to take it on more casual outings?

Hi Zdenka, I love the review of the Gimbal! We have the DJI Osmo 2 and it stores the media on the app and you then have to export it. Is this the same with the Q2 or does it record straight to the phone? Appreciate the help!

Excellent review. A question for you: when you dont want to use the Zhiyun app but rather use the native(samsung camera app), will you still be able to use reccord/stop buttons and the joystick for pan, tilt, rotate, inception modes?

Terrific review! Thanks so much for the hard work and great production and presentation. For my needs smartphone shooting needs, the Smooth Q2 is perfect. And that common, removable battery is a great feature. I often wondered if other gimbals were disposable when the battery went bad?
Exactly the batteries are pretty big deal I would think that one’s the gimbal doesn’t we will just have to toss it out.... Which will be pretty bad... 🎬📸😊🎥

Well done for the review. For me, it looks like this Z. series imitates Z. M2. But they wisely generate the market in both camera and mobile phone. And lastly, my personal opinion is that Z is more compatible to all mid to high android phone, isn't it? Have a good day.

Hiya, so this Q2 gimbal does not have a way to manually zoom? How can you get that one shot where the subject remains the same size while the background changes?
Got this for a S10e, it's really well built, compact and seems sturdy BUT motor is visible in frame with both wide angle and ultra wide angle, no matter how well the phone is balanced... Using the triple click on rec button (since firmware 1.95) help removing motor in frame as it block the gimbal in an inclined position but is only usable in POV and Follow mode...Big flaw.. Considering Osmo mobile 3 now but seems cheaply built compared to this one. You compared both, what do you think about that?

Hi Zdenka. If you still see these comments... I was wondering if you have any more tips on this model for not to see the motor? I am seriously thinking about selling it and buying a hohem instead x or the atom 2 as they are cheaper then the djis and you don't see the motors.
They just came out with with Q3 which is great. Hohem is coming out with a new gimbal as well. Otherwise you always have to tilted forward to not to see the motor
Thanks for the great review. I'm still on the fence with the DJI Osmo Mobile 3. Probably go with whomever Filmic Pro updates software for first. I can't see myself using Zhiyun's app... Again, great, informative video!
I was in same dilemma too. I hv used both. Zhiyuns build quality beats everyone out there in the same bracket. but my personal experience with it wasnt that great. That cud be just my device though. To start with, single joystick for multi functions wasnt working well on my device. that single click mode changing didnt seem to work for me. single clicks were just randomly switching themselves back and forth instead of moving properly to the next mode as Zdenka showed here. it was my biggest concern. after that, if u hv big hands then consider this point, it felt really small in my big hands, it didnt feel that secure. its not slippery by any means but u know how we feel when we hold tiny thing which can pop out of our hands easily if we r not being careful !!! hope u r getting my point :D !!! so after all this I had to send it back. then I bought DJI 3 !!! and I am loving it. no issues so far. its been more than a month with it. hope that helps :)

Hello Zdenka. When you get a chance, could you see if the cold shoe adapter clamp you used on the Osmo 3 works on the Q2 beneath the pan motor? I know it may cover the "mode" letters but hopefully the lights are still visible!
The clamp I have has oval shape so you need different one.... they have rounded one... I think it would work but the space is very limited.... I will be comparing all gimbals very soon so I'll make sure I show all that.... have a great weekend 🤗📽📷📱📹
Ahoj Zdenko, I'm testing this device. I can't find the possibility of a continuous 360-degree panorama moving time-laps. Is this possibility there? Also, when entering 180 degrees panorama time-laps moving, either preset or in the mode of setting individual points, it stops somewhere in the middle of the horizontal movement of the device and continues after 2s. So with this, is the Smooth 4 still better? Still quite undecided which one to buy (and considering Osmo 3 as well). Would really want to practice filmmaking.

Great review. I still search a gimbal fo myS10+ which I can use on my motorcycle trips where storage is limited. Best part is the removable battery (I camp a lot so often no change of recharge). is there any other with removable battery maby smaller in pack size?
From my experience the removable batteries are very hard to get. I wouldn’t look at those gimbals anymore. Ive used other gimbals with build in batteries over and over and no problem so far

Both gimbals have something amazing which the other doesn't have. They are both equally good... but I cannot say that one is better then the other one... both have flaws as well. 😊📽📱📷📹

If you are planning to buy a moment lens then you also need to get moment case... link is in the video description.... it really depends what lens you are getting... each brand has it's own cases for the lens... 🤗📱📹

For my needs smartphone shooting needs, the Smooth Q2 is perfect. And that common, removable battery is a great feature. I often wondered if other gimbals were disposable when the battery went bad?
Exactly the batteries are pretty big deal I would think that one’s the gimbal doesn’t we will just have to toss it out.... Which will be pretty bad... 🎬📸😊🎥

Well done for the review. For me, it looks like this Z. series imitates Z. M2. But they wisely generate the market in both camera and mobile phone. And lastly, my personal opinion is that Z is more compatible to all mid to high android phone, isn't it? Have a good day.

Hi Zdenka, I was wondering if you do any video with full frame cameras and do you have much knowledge of picture profiles? They can offer some very creative video but are so complex, they become overwhelming.
I honestly don't have videos on DSLRs and I don't think I want to go that way... I am myself slowly going away from them...... too complicated, I much more prefer mirrorless ..... 🤗📽📷📱📹
Hiya, so this Q2 gimbal does not have a way to manually zoom? How can you get that one shot where the subject remains the same size while the background changes?

Got this for a S10e, it's really well built, compact and seems sturdy BUT motor is visible in frame with both wide angle and ultra wide angle, no matter how well the phone is balanced... Using the triple click on rec button (since firmware 1.95) help removing motor in frame as it block the gimbal in an inclined position but is only usable in POV and Follow mode...Big flaw.. Considering Osmo mobile 3 now but seems cheaply built compared to this one. You compared both, what do you think about that?

I am seriously thinking about selling it and buying a hohem instead x or the atom 2 as they are cheaper then the djis and you don't see the motors.
They just came out with with Q3 which is great. Hohem is coming out with a new gimbal as well. Otherwise you always have to tilted forward to not to see the motor

I was in same dilemma too. I hv used both. Zhiyuns build quality beats everyone out there in the same bracket. but my personal experience with it wasnt that great. That cud be just my device though. To start with, single joystick for multi functions wasnt working well on my device. that single click mode changing didnt seem to work for me. single clicks were just randomly switching themselves back and forth instead of moving properly to the next mode as Zdenka showed here. it was my biggest concern. after that, if u hv big hands then consider this point, it felt really small in my big hands, it didnt feel that secure. its not slippery by any means but u know how we feel when we hold tiny thing which can pop out of our hands easily if we r not being careful !!! hope u r getting my point :D !!! so after all this I had to send it back. then I bought DJI 3 !!! and I am loving it. no issues so far. its been more than a month with it. hope that helps :)
Thank you for the great review Zdenka, I have Osmo Mobile 3, my issue is I can't take the low position when I use the monopod. I want to take the video from low position to high position. Can Q2 handle it? It is not an issue when using my osmo mobile 2.

Yes Osmo 2 does the same thing as the motor is right in the middle... osmo 3 doesn't have that problem anymore 📽🌞🤗📱📹📷
Hello Zdenka. When you get a chance, could you see if the cold shoe adapter clamp you used on the Osmo 3 works on the Q2 beneath the pan motor? I know it may cover the "mode" letters but hopefully the lights are still visible!
The clamp I have has oval shape so you need different one.... they have rounded one... I think it would work but the space is very limited.... I will be comparing all gimbals very soon so I'll make sure I show all that.... have a great weekend 🤗📽📷📱📹

Also, when entering 180 degrees panorama time-laps moving, either preset or in the mode of setting individual points, it stops somewhere in the middle of the horizontal movement of the device and continues after 2s. Great review. I still search a gimbal fo myS10+ which I can use on my motorcycle trips where storage is limited. Best part is the removable battery (I camp a lot so often no change of recharge). is there any other with removable battery maby smaller in pack size?
From my experience the removable batteries are very hard to get. I wouldn’t look at those gimbals anymore. Ive used other gimbals with build in batteries over and over and no problem so far
