Gatchaman, Mazinger Z, and Cutie Honey are three of the most memorable themes. Virtually every Cutie Honey project since has used a variation of the original 1972 theme song. The Gatchaman theme song appeared now and again (in instrumental form) during the mid-1990s Gatchaman OVA series and was used as the theme for Ken the Eagle in the Tatsunoko Vs Capcom fighting game. The closing theme for Gatchaman (used from episode 11 onward) was Jun the Swan's theme in the same game. They re-orchestrated and rerecorded the Mazinger Z theme for the Mazinger Z: Infinity movie and recruited the original singer to do the new recording as well. This tells you something about Japan and the respect they have for tradition. They don't throw everything away, especially not the enduring cornerstones of their pop culture.
