No doubt he still had it, but I think the color and style of his voice definitely changed as he got older and his overall sound matured. One of the things I find is most fun about being a Michael Jackson fan is how there’s so much variety to enjoy as he continually reinvented himself over the decades of his career, especially in the details of his music and vocals. If I’m not in the mood on one day for the thick fullness and energetic punch of his style in the late 70s, I put on the silky smooth and crystal clear soaring falsetto of Invincible and vice versa. There’s always something to choose from to enjoy no matter what you may be looking for, which is why I think so many people can always come back to his music.
