MJ's copyright owners will allow this video to remain on youtube but there must be consistent use of frequent stops. No one part of the the song in part or in whole can be played without frequent interruptions. This is partially why I stop and comment and sing during and after key sections that I play. If I just play the files, the video will be taken down. Presenting the files in this format with this kind of flow cements the FAIR USE intent which is why it can remain up on TH-cam. Along these lines, I can not reveal where or link to the source files or I'll get a takedown notice as well. Giving away content that is not mine to give also falls outside of FAIR USE intent. Thanks for understanding and for enjoying the video! I'm excited for you to hear all the wonderful nuances!

Michael Jackson is not given the respect he deserves by the music industry or American society in general. He is not honoured enough for his genius and contribution to music and humanity. Are there any schools, gardens or streets named after him? He was very reserved and private with his work. Dissecting all his songs and parading them on the net like this to me as a fan, given how sensitive Michael was, just makes me uncomfortable. It's fine with 1 or 3 song sampling, for learning and appreciation. We appreciate MJ more for the lengths he went to and his creative visionary in content creation. Michael Jackson deserves way more respect than we see him being given or the way he's being treated. I'm saying this with l.o.v.e ❤ You are clearly in a position to lobby for honours for MJ. That's what we would like to see. With all this microscopic dissection and appreciation, how about you lobby for your government or whomever the powers that be to build or name a university or children's hospital in his name to honour our King of pop, rock and soul Michael Jackson ❤❤🔥

@@oDiiJei We are talking about Michael Jackson, no heavy burden at all. He deserves all the honours. People who really love, appreciate and have the means to get things done for him should do so without thinking of it as a burden. There has been so much taking from and exploitation of MJ throughout his life, even in death. Honouring him should never be seen as a burden.

Since your interruptions highlight interesting bits and add to what we hear, no problem with that! I must add, though... copyright owners tend to think too much of themselves... just a bunch of businessmen and lawyers without one iota of creativity, they just wanna live well throught the hard work of creative/dedicated people like MJ. Or yourself. A pity.

Chris, the analysis you do of ALL these MJ songs is kind of the best thing ever (speaking as a life-long singer who remembers bringing Thriller (on vinyl) home with mom as a little kid).
Michael would be flattered that you respect his work so much and that we all do too.
      Thank you!

Hearing MJ’s isolated vocal tracks is invaluable. I used to produce music using my own voice and I analyzed my own voice tracks in a similar manner. MJ’s breathing was paramount in his vocal style. If I ever record again, I will never edit out my breath the way I sometimes used to do. Rather, I’ll embrace breathing with raw drama - thanks to MJ’s example. Again, your MJ isolated vocal track TH-cam videos are invaluable. Many thanks!

Purely based on tone, rhythmic value and unprecedented individuality, I rate jackson as the best male vocalist of all time. His voice is just so cool and embraces various styles. Luther Vandross might have more range for example and sing better live but Jackson trounces them all with that goddamn tone !

His very very expressed emotion + talent is what gives so much expression. When I sing I hold back... I get self conscious.. He is the polar opposite. Being as seemingly shy as he was, he let everything out in recording. I also think just practicing that melisma technique can help with when you wanna add expression. Not to overdo it, but to put it in at all.

One of my favorite MJ songs actually. Along with "I can't help it" Not many singers in music history can hold a candle to MJ with his vocals. He was equally as good on up tempo as ballads. Freddie Mercury is right up there too.

As one of my favourite MJ songs I've heard all of these nuances having listened to the song for the last 35 years every so often. His voice is taken for granted nowadays and because modern vocalists don't have these kinds of nuances and Michael used his voice to set the scene and build emotion, it wasn't just to show off how good he could sing.
Also the use of synthesisers is just because back then in the 80s he wanted to try different things. He came up in the 60s so wanted to build different textures and feelings rather than everything sounding brassy and jazzy all the time.

I hope your secret source will give In The Closet multitracks next tho afsfsgkl but I'll watch whatever MJ's breakdown you'll present to us anyway, bcs they way you deliver/analyze them is so interesting in its own way ❤

I can probably explain the overloading of the mic preamp: MJ used an SM7B for a lot of his early recordings. It‘s a very power-hungry mic and MJ‘s quiet parts have to somehow be picked up, so they put the gain way up.

were outstanding. As a child he was well trained to match his talent level. Then, to come on here and hear the breakdown you’ve done on “Liberian Girl” recorded in his adult years with years of experience is a plethora of game to glean! Thank you! Salute! When I listen to the way you describe his songs and musical proccess I feel like I finally found someone on the internet that can explain in proper musical terms what I always heard and FELT in his songs and voice but I was never able to put in words or to explain to people. You are doing an amazing job, sir! I am a new follower of your channel and I wonder if you coul analise Little Susie from MJ 's History album. In my opinion it is another huge underrated masterpiece. Okay, had to watch this 3 times before getting all my thoughts together. I love it when someone calls out details that I've previously noticed in MJ's masterpieces! I thought I was the only crazy person in the world and that I'm too much of a fanboy. This is hands down my favorite MJ song of all times (lyrically and musically speaking), and I'm always air drumming to it, and imitating different sounds and instruments whenever I hear it. As Quincy Jones put it: "Liberian Girl? Who would come up with something like that?!". It's just unmatched from a creative perspective and all these new elements that I'm hearing with the help of your video have made me fall in love with it even more (like that was even possible). This has smoothness oozing out of it, every single sound seems like it was hand picked and perfectly put there in the mix to make up the whole master. Incredible!
Thank you so much for this video, Chris! You made a man smile today, if that matters to you
