4:45 and 5:42 Sounds very Bad era which has really surprised me. He rarely ever used this gritty raspy register before the Bad album, but he always had it in him. Amazing to hear him sing in this style as early as the late 70s.
Love this song! I feel like most of the non-headline songs from Off The Wall are under appreciated from getting overshadowed by the rest of his career, but there are so many gems with so much character, and this song is a prime example. That Louis Johnson bass line is absolutely fantastic, one of the best even. I really enjoyed the delve into such a funky style and wish we could have heard more of it before the transition into Triumph and Thriller!
