It’s very pricey, now at $29.99 usd, but I look forward to hearing when it goes on sale for half off. Thanks Doug for letting us know about Patterning 3!
Thanks Doug! For me, patterning has been a long time favorite, a lot because it has so many different drum kits and the way it is built.Very creative drum machine that has become even more raw.
Love this one. Loved the prior version too of course. Funny thing - never found the undo? I think they might have left it out on purpose, or am I blind?
No upgrade price from Patterning 2 (or 1)? Am I being punished for buying the previous version? Not too happy with that, I would have bought it straight away otherwise
1. App Store doesn’t allow upgrade pricing. 2. There was a pre-order discount to accommodate for this. 3. It will go on sale eventually. 4. Never buy a product if it doesn’t meet your needs. Patterning 2 (a 6 year old app) still works the same as when you bought it.
Love it till now. Would be nice to have a bit more „sampler orientation“ but i like it nonetheless. One thing i sorely miss and would be very grateful if anyone can answer this but does it really not have an „Undo“ button ? I find an „Undo- Redo“ for ,, say the last 2-3 actions essential
@@milk_bath i am hoping to have it all in one app. I find using one app to complement another a slow workflow. I can create drumkits very fast in ableton and send them to Patterning but this is what i am trying to avoid. If Patterning had a Sample Editor i would be happy. It would be perfect then. It is different to be able to edit and customize sound while you are in the zone and different to „prepare what you think you need“.
I like Patterning 3, but I'm somewhat disappointed when using it in AUM Kymatica. I would like to have both Patterning 2 and 3 playing at the same time in the same tempo in AUM, but they're not in sync. I can select Patterning 2 as INTER-APP AUDIO source and it has worked for me without fail over the years. In fact, I like using it along with iMPC and iVCS3, all link together automatically to the same tempo and I don't have to adjust the tempo in AUM. With Patterning 3 however, it is only available as an AUDIO UNIT EXTENSION source, and some of the features aren't available as they are if it were used as an INTER-APP AUDIO, or standalone (e.g. the CLOCK SETTINGS is featured when Patterning 3 functions as a standalone, which enables me to activate Ableton Link and I can play Patterning 2 and 3 in sync successfully). I also tried to set the tempo in AUM but that has not helped. Maybe I'm overlooking a step? I hope this makes sense and any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Huge Patterning Fan from the get go, glad to see version 3 drop with AU.

You’ll be waiting a while
@@Endlesssummer1yes woulda been good if Olympia woulda shown some love to us folks who’ve bought previous versions.. dang.
@@baseboardmattThere was a pre-order discount because the App Store doesn’t allow upgrade pricing.
can't really understand how 30 bucks is considered pricey for a piece of software that is this good.
agreed, not pricey for something this good
The GOAT of iOS tutorials. Thank you.
Yes, there are some acoustic drums, you have over 600 different kits to choose from
Super Demo Doug
It’s an amazing app……..very expensive
Thanks Doug!

Deep and a huge range of kits! Nice! Thanks, Doug!
Thanks for the thorough tutorial Doug. Love the visual interface with patterning. Allows very quick and easy programming on the fly.
A great tutorial. Thanks Doug :)
Another banger of a video from Doug. Great stuff
Thanks for the walkthrough! Awesome update!

Thanks for the walk through. Can you go over time signatures etc? Like I think that would need it’s own video lol
I imagine you can import your own samples to build kits?
Yes, you can import your own samples to make kits👍

I use Koala as a sampler and stem splitter to create drums kits for Patterning.

Interesting App. But I couldn’t find a way to add triplets, flams, drags etc. Also, couldn’t find a way to play two or more patterns at the same time.
How do u quantize
Can this be used in AUM or the like?
Yes it can
@@TheSoundTestRoom How? It’s not showing up in the internet app or extension lists 🤷🏻♂️
Is Patterning usable for Jazz or Rock drums? Are there any demos? Cheers
Is the midi learn easy to use? Can you map the mixer, fx and switching scenes, kits, parts etc?
Thats one of my issues with Koala sampler is that some of the features are not the most intuitive to map

nice new features…. but…
why not offering an upgrade from version 2 for, lets say 10 €, instead of having to buy the whole new machine?
but i loved your tutorial👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Can this new version change the pitch and duration per note, like hammerhead?
14 minutes in, parameter step modulation… or parameter locks as the Elektron crowd calls it.
@@SabcatPrinting cool, thanks!
Reminds me of hammerhead with more control
When using this app in bm3 it crackles , what is going on!?
What year/model iPad?
@@milk_bath 10th gen, on discord it looks like the devs are talking to each other which is very good news! Fingers crossed issue can be resolved.
Also just as a fyi, I'm not the only one, others get the behaviour too
What are the acoustic drums like, as in real drums, any rock kits or the like?
The acoustic kits on there are some of the best I've heard on IOS to be honest
@@DaveGriff Cool. I like the look of the interface over using a key strip in Cubasis or the like.
It’s not velocity layered though?
£29.99? I’ll think I’ll pass for now
