Matt, another cool way to get color effects on Copper is by flashing them with a torch. Just wave that flame back and forth across your piece until you see an effect you like. Then finish it, as you did, with an acrylic spray sealant. 👍🏻

You can put the LOS in the baking soda solution to neutralize it. Use 0000 grit steel wool for burnishing, too.

Great video. Safety warning from the interwebs:
Liver of sulfur, also known as potassium sulfide or potassium polysulfide, is a chemical compound that is commonly used in metalworking to create a patina or darkening effect on metals like silver or copper. The name "liver of sulfur" comes from its original use as a medicine in ancient times, where it was believed to treat liver ailments due to its dark brown color resembling that of liver tissue. However, liver of sulfur is toxic and should be used with caution in a well-ventilated area while wearing protective gloves and eyewear.

    Cool!
I had used Liver of Sulphur before, some years ago in a workshop type situation. Then I had a project that I thought Lover of Sulphur would be an excellent way to patina it. Except I FORGOT how STINKY Liver of Sulphur is! Wooo-wee, stunk my whole house up! I do love the effects you can get with Liver of Sulphur, but I'm not going to use it in the house where I live again! Outside, or in the studio 👍🏻

  • @ckdstyle_bags

Hi Matt, when using liver of sulfur you need to use copper, bamboo or plastic tweezers to put your piece in and pull it out. After using the tweezers they need to be designated for only this purpose. If you do not you cannot reuse the liver of sulfur again.
