Today we take a look at the GWM Ora - known elsewhere as the Good Cat, or Funky Cat - which is GWMs small EV answer. Does that mean its right for you? Well, there are good things, and there are bad things, so in today's in-depth review we will cover all of that! Let's get into it!

For the record the Ora Funky cat got the best Euro NCAP safety test rating for its size category.
The start up noise you heard is actually the high-voltage starter from your 12 volts battery working to “rev-up” for the power battery.
The interior is amazing! Would take this over a Corolla any day....
I drove one last weekend.
I think they've updated the driver monitoring software, because it didn't beep at me once.
I'm going to wait until I can drive the MG4 and BYD Dolphin, but I can very much see myself buying one of these next year.

I have just tested (today in Australia) the latest software and I didn’t get any of the annoying bongs and warnings so ask the dealer to update your loan car - I like the car it looks and drives great

I got the car as a car-subscription for 12 months really cheap and will be able to drive it in a few weeks. I am really excited.
But I heard/read that there is no apple car play or android auto support, at least here in Germany. I could not find anything online about it being supported now, except in your review. But I guess I will know in a few weeks for sure.
Any updates, i was wondering too!
We have Apple car play on the Ora in Straya and if we have it I am sure the rest of the world had it years ago.
hopefully these will go to below $20k on the used market in 2 years for me to buy as a 2nd family car.
Recently you reviewed the Fiat 500e. At the time I commented that it was a vehicle that made no sense because it had such limited range, could only accommodate 2 people and was over priced. This is an example of a vehicle that makes sense. It accommodates 4 and possibly 5 adults (certainly 2 adults and 3 children) has pretty good range and is sensibly priced. Granted the rear luggage space is limited but is would surely carry the school bags of 3 kids on the school run. You would have to plan carefully before setting off on a road trip (range and charger location issues to consider). But it would be ideal for the daily run around in the city.
This is supposed to be introduced in Mexico next week or around october 2023, looks ... looks fun something I'll like to drive around. Also the BYD Dolphin just started selling in México too and its such a cool car and most important ...100% availability.
And pricing while not perfect its starting to look affordable for me, compared to the old american and european petrol brands, Dolphin is a steal, and that EX30 from Volvo (Geely) are breaking the market.
I am torn between this one and the Dolphin, they cost the same here in Mexico! However the range on this one is significantly worse than the Dolphin’s but on the other hand I loooove the interior and the overall design of this. There aren’t Ora dealerships in CDMX yet however I loved the Dolphin when I saw it in person, the light and colorful interior was so cute, however the fact that there are only three colors available isn’t that good.

Absolutely love your review guys! I also love this car (and will have a review soon on Stormjuice). I'm glad I'm not the only one who had an issue with the indicator Pong. You might need to performance test in it again, as it has a Launch Mode..... Put it in Sport, put your foot flat on the brake pedal, then flat on the accelerator pedal..... wait for the slight sound that let's you know it's ready.... and LET GO OF THE BRAKE (and pray if you still have the Giti tyres on).
I really enjoyed your review - a real change from some talking head reading dry specs. 😊
The manufacturers certainly need to fix the indicator. Also, the wiper control is upside down and when you pull back to spray the windscreen, the wipers do not automatically sweep two or three times. The indicator problem will stop a lot of people buying the car. Which is a shame.

Is it me or is adjusting something as simple as fan controls through a damn touch screen dangerous? Amongst other features?? Buttons and muscle memory seem much safer..

The driver monitoring system does NOT work in this car in NZ and Australia, only works in the GT model. It is supposed to work but China don't have a fix for it. They have been trying to fix my cars DMS for 8 months now. it is not a 5 star ANCAP safety without the driver monitoring system working. please share for the safety of ORA drivers

The Indicators don't switch OFF
What are you talking about, of course they turn off. I've owned one for five months and indicators are fine, never not turned off. It's the operator that's the problem.
Much better than a Nissan Leaf. Compared to an MG4, it’s got worse range, tiny boot, slow DC charging.
And no rear wiper
And doesn't drive as well.
