In this video, I share my top 5 self-awareness activities. Many trainers talk about the importance of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, but I've become frustrated in the past by a lack of specific exercises that I can do. After years of experimentation, here's what I have found to be the most helpful.

    Thank you for the wisdom.
I also appreciate you reiterated that one shouldn’t be so quick as to conform to the results of these analysis tools. Many people looking into their emotional awareness are often detached, dissociated or have “lost touch” with themselves, making them vulnerable to labels and false assimilations.

When you keep a journal, do you keep it forever? I like to do a weekly plan, then daily add and subtract items as i complete or gain new activities.

I agree with Steve regarding assessments. They are first-level awareness and can be very helpful but change is made at the root of impulse - which is feeling. Coaches focus far too much on traits, qualities, preferences, and aspirations. If you want to increase your assertiveness and just start taking action, you're actually "by-passing" if you haven't worked with the feeling (or pattern)that usually inhibits your taking action. The action you take if you by-passed will retain an inauthentic quality that will corrupt the power of the action.

The issue is, even with the best will in the world, the reflector is still limited by their level of Dynamic Intelligence. Check out Constructed Development Theory for the reasons. It's very interesting.

It cannot. If you are making decisions using emotion, then you are limiting your thinking. In order to be a high level thinker, one needs to move through emotion in to cognition.

Writing it down would be less honest if i did it since you have evidence i said it. I would go out of my way not to be critical.
