Sinulog has deep roots in history and faith. In 1521, the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan landed on Cebu to erect a cross on its shores. He introduced Christianity and presented the Miraculous Image of Santo Niño as a gift to Hara Humamay (Juan), the wife of Raja Humabon. On April 14, 1521, the first baptism took place, during which 500 natives, led by the Hindu Raja Humabon and his wife, were baptized into the Catholic faith. 🇻🇦💐
Thank you so much Jackie for this amazing prayer dance video. Catholics during the Sinulog Festival simply give thanks and praise to the Santo Niño because this marks the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines. Devotees dance and shout "Pit Senyor," which means "call, ask, or supplicate the King!" This is NOT WORSHIP, it is just respectful reverence. Even King David, in 2 Samuel 6:16, danced in front of the Ark of the Covenant during the procession. "Holy Child" or "Santo Niño" is biblical and is found in Acts 4:30 KJV and Luke 1:35 (New American Standard Bible) or Luke 1:35 (The Bible of the Americas) Spanish Bible. Jesus bless you, Jackie, abundantly. ❤️💐💐💐
Jackie, will you be vlogging again this Sinulog 2025? Its back to its original route with much more participants, contingents from outside Cebu. Antipolo, Rizal in Luzon will also be joining. Cebu provinces will be back to join as well.
